  1. These are all great stories! Here's a tip for new players. There have been times over the years that while using the Shop Wizard I would find something for sale way below the correct price. I would then buy it, and mail the seller, telling them of their error. They would then thank me, and tell me how surprised they were that someone would do that for them. We would become friends so that I could gift it back to them. Then they would re-sell at the normal price. It's those little acts of kindness that we can all do to make the world a little better--even if it IS fake money. Believe me, that is worth infinitely more than getting a few thousand (or even a few million) NP.

  2. I'll be voting for Steampunk. If I had a 2nd choice, it would be Toy. I think they are trying for shiny plastic cuteness. On any design, it would be nice to see a wider range of pets to sample before choosing. Maybe the artists have already done that, but no one will bother to post all of the potential new looks for all the pets.

EDIT: I changed my mind. I voted Toy in hopes it will get enough votes to be the next new brush after Steampunk. I also think it will look good on many pets. Let's remember, this is basically a toy based imaginary world, so I'm trusting the artists will have fun playing with this theme. :santa: :icecream: I'm also curious if "toy" will always mean plastic, or if it could have features such as fake hair and other non-smooth surfaces and textures. Maybe there could even be a mix of materials, including thin pieces of metal, as many toys have in addition to just plastic.

  3. This is my first day clicking the Fruit Machine with the purple haze. It slowed it down so much I left before it came to a stop. If I had won anything, would leaving the page before the fruit have stopped spinning make any difference? Wouldn't it just show up as extra NP and/or a prize in my inventory? Or do I need to wait it out?

This was fun at first, but now it is just annoying.  I don't battle in Battledome. Never have.  I don't want to spend a fortune in NP to get potions, because everyone has jacked up the prices on the components.  They need to wind this up or give the pacifists on Neopets another way to play.

I agree totally. I knew I wouldn't have time for all of this, so I haven't done any. I would have thought they could make an event that didn't affect non-players. Or at least remove the purple haze once it's clicked. It comes back even after you click "OK".

  5. Rntracy1, congratulations to your son and best wishes for his national service. Prayers for his safety and success. I'm sure as time goes by you'll adjust better and get into a routine that will help you deal with the apprehension from his absence. I am not familiar with all of the military careers. Do you know what type of electrical work he will get? Does it deal with the wiring of buildings on army bases? If so that will be useful in the private sector later.

Thank you! Though hopefully Star doesn't need any changing during training...I forgot to pack diapers. lol

:laughingsmiley: After I got done laughing, I did a search on the Shop Wizard. I didn't see anything under diaper or diapers. Maybe you've started something NeoStep! :cheff:

  7. What Mouseykins said. I know some rich players like to donate things, which is very generous of them. Sometimes it makes a person's week to receive such a gift. It feels great to give, too. But on the other hand, one of the good things about playing Neopets is that it promotes saving over time for something you really want. You will have the satisfaction of earning it yourself, which makes it feel special. Other ways to gain valuables and Neopoints: the more pages you visit (or refresh) the more chances of getting random events that are usually positive more often than negative. And as a new player many years ago, I won a valuable paint brush on the Fruit Machine. A good surprise will happen to you too eventually. Meanwhile, enjoy the games and special events. And what I still enjoy best about Neopets is just looking at all the cute designs of everything. That's worth more than anything else to me.

P.S.: If someone ever does give you a paint brush, be grateful. But I'll bet earning your own NP for another pet will make that one seem unique to you. :nod_yes:

Good question. I haven't been able to find anything yet (I tried to visit the soup kitchen on my side accounts to feed my pets, but gave up because the fog is too annoying). I have noticed that Firefox is worse at loading the pages with the fog (and removing it) than Chrome is, so if you haven't tried Chrome yet, perhaps you could try what clicking 'OK' does there?

First, thanks for replying. I was afraid I would sound like a complainer if I was the only one a bit bothered by this. I already use Chrome for Neopets. If Firefox is even worse, I'm glad I'm no longer using it for this site.

i dont think it would give any high-end items since every body got one (millions of people) it would de-value the rare item big time ...

You may be right, but I was wondering if it might give a few high value or rare items randomly. I'm looking for sites or any page here that lists previous gift bag contents. Don't they give various prizes? I didn't think it was the exact same things for every bag. The comments I saw on another forum showed a range of items, but they were not worth the current value of the unopened bag. For comparison, the Fruit Machine gives the chance of winning a paint brush. Millions click on that every day. That could also potentially lower the value of any existing paint brushes.

I'm checking this link now. So far I don't see it even listed.

  10. Here are the links, for quick reference. Still no items inside described as of this posting. The SW lists it above 20,000 for now.

Open the gift bag for amazing goodies. This was given out by the Advent Calendar in Y19.

EDIT: a quick Google shows it giving just low value items so far, but if there is even a chance of something like, say, a Lost Desert Paint Brush inside, then maybe it will always have some potential of keeping its higher price. I'm speculating and have no actual proof yet of what's inside. If anyone is willing to open theirs, please post what you get. I'm sure we're all curious.

  11. Hi Deborah, welcome! Yes, we are friendly and helpful around here, (and well moderated too). I'm curious, if you don't mind me asking, what is the meaning behind your user name, Gimstana? It sounds very unique, I don't remember ever hearing it before.

  12. Sorry for what happened to you, birdgofly. But it could have been worse. Several years ago my Kougra J88KK was randomly turned Invisible. I've gotten used to it (it allows me to see backgrounds better). I'm just glad it started out as Yellow and that I had never bought an expensive paint brush or something to make it my dream color. (I believe random invisibility has been taken away now.)

Random events can be "good", "bad", or "pointless" (neutral with no gain or loss). You will see "Something has happened!" and then the description.

  13. MiraiKT, I'm sorry to hear that you are leaving. But I also wish you the best in your business. I will ask some less wealthy friends on Neo what they may like. As for me, I like special backgrounds, paintbrushes, potions, and anything scenic or beautiful. I may add a new pet soon so I'm considering new looks for them. Thanks for your generosity. Even if I don't get anything, I appreciate you doing this for everyone else.

EDIT: Sometimes I think we longer players don't deserve to ask for anything. But it occurred to me that we are also the ones who are more likely and more able to donate to others. I once gave a Lost Desert Paint Brush to someone and felt great for doing so. But even if we don't "re-gift" these items, it's also a case of giving to people who appreciate the items and the whole experience of Neopets on a deeper level. These gifts make us remember who gave them as well, like a keep sake full of memories of past friends and fun times. I know that "real world" collectors often do this for each other. I really admire the time and effort the artists spend on designing and creating an item. I also respect the hard work a player put into gaining the piece and what it meant to them.

  14. I recently was able to play all three levels of Kou-Jong on Medium as part of the GMC. I got a score of 311. However, in the days since then, when playing on Medium, the third level doesn't complete loading. The graphic that shows the usually brief loading process just keeps going. Maybe it would eventually finish, but after a while I just stop and try starting over. So far each game has the same problem. Sometimes I get a pop-up (I believe from Windows) telling me that Adobe is slow and something about the computer may become unresponsive. I'm using Chrome which is up to date. Note that this happens only when loading level 3. Any suggestions?

  15. Thanks for the list Shoyru. I used a lot of my SDB items for the Charity Corner last time. Let's not forget that we can also sell them. Sometimes I'd rather make a sure 150K or whatever the inflated 5 items might go for than get an item worth only a few thousand. I hedged my bets and did some of both and may do that again. I suggest that those who would rather have a sure thing ("bird in the hand") do that, especially if they are saving up for a potion or paintbrush. For those of us who could afford to gamble we enjoyed the dice roll of seeing what we'd get. I had some pleasant surprises. Another advantage of getting the NP is that way you don't have the hassle of trying to sell things on the Trading Post or Auction. Some newer players may prefer the cash.
