  1. I cast my vote for you! Nice job on the elephante. Good luck in the contest.

Glad to see TNT is running at least some of the contests... If they ever start up the CC again, I may not even realize it because I've stopped checking... and who knows if they'll ever run the prize scripts for the ~8 prizes they owe me (at least...).

  2. That moment when you feel like answering "ORLY?" :P

    Neopets_Chocolate_Factory.png

This reminds me of when my pet is whining that it's been forever since I've taken her for training... when I'm in the secret ninja school, in the process of paying for her training...

  3. Well done. I definitely was wondering what JS was up to...

(thinking, hey, this isn't related to that lame JS.com takeover thing... until I realized it was actually mischievous TDN that was up to something...)

$900 for an UC? I bet there are people who would pay that. But not many. And hey, it might pay for the site for a minute or so...

  4. Thanks, Shelley. There's also a tie for third right now, too (though I guess if there's a tie for first, then the next person is technically third...). Anyway, it's very close!

I already have my entry for the next contest just about ready. I might try to tweak it some more tomorrow, but I got bored and stopped for several of the item categories after finding something "good enough." If only I could remember which categories those were...

  5. Speaking of Daily Dare and other annual events, I usually wait to get prizes until prices stabilize, near the time for the next competition. Does anyone have any links to any outstanding prize shops for annual and one-time events? I should probably go spend all my prize points for all the things, if they're even still around. I know I still have some unspent for several different plots, etc. I didn't even think to do that pre-transition, and I suspect JS could take those down at any point (if they haven't already).

(Sorry if this is a little off-topic, but if we do have a DD, I'm sure I'm not the only one who waits to spend prize points that might poof any day...)

  6. Wow, that's very generous, Tess! Thanks! And that's a really cool theme idea, too!

I had an interesting idea for a theme, but I'm not quite sure how to word it. I guess maybe "optical illusions" -- where you use an item in a way that makes it look different than it was originally designed to look (through layering). I'll try to go through previous contests and see if I can find a good example of what I mean. (I have one on one of my pets, but then I wouldn't be able to use it if that theme were ever chosen... so I'd rather find an example of something already submitted).

ETA: Maybe something like this, where the cover of darkness foreground turns a regular happy Terror Mountain background into a blizzard: http://impress.openneo.net/outfits/875375

Or the same foreground turns an underwater treasure background into a spooky deep sea adventure: http://impress.openneo.net/outfits/875377

Or LillytheGrundo's winning entry from this contest: http://www.tdnforums.com/index.php?/topic/43767-customization-contest-v2-voting-3/

Alright, none of those are really spectacular examples... I can't find the one I was thinking of, where someone used a water-containing foreground to really change the dynamics of a background in a recent contest.

  7.

Well, technically you can if a stock goes bankrupt. ^_^ Mercifully though, this doesn't happen very often... I think it's only happened to 8 stocks in all of Neopian history or something like that.

Also, the last time it happened was pre-Viacom, I think. Shhh, don't give JS-TNT any ideas! (I have no idea if TNT manually did that or if it was programmed to randomly happen, but since it occurred 8 times in the first few years and hasn't since, I'm holding out hope that it's broken/been forgotten about...)

  8. That's strange that the person got in trouble for receiving an unsolicited NM. Either JS-TNT is completely incompetent, or the site in question is a known cheating site (just being active on there could get you in trouble). Either way, it's not really your fault that they advertised their Neopets name on that site. If you really want to apologize, you could try to do it on the other site (via PM), but you're probably just better off leaving it at that and hoping they forget about you. It really wasn't your fault.

My friend received a warning for talking about his bartending job on Neopets (we usually talk elsewhere, and he forgot we were NMing instead of PMing). It's really just that, a warning. It goes on your Neopets "permanent record," but as long as you don't slip up again, it doesn't really matter. You could respond to the ticket and point out that you were not advertising a site nor soliciting/sharing info to contact someone off-site -- just trying to find out if they needed an item and letting them know where you got their contact info from (it's not advertising because the other person obviously already knew of the other site, and you didn't try to share a link) -- and that you thought you'd be safer conducting all of your interactions with them on Neopets instead of off-site....

You have to be really careful even mentioning other websites (including Google...). And communicating outside of Neopets, even if you know each other in real life (I've known of siblings who got in trouble for mentioning that they'd call the other... no exchange of info, obviously! they already had it!). I guess if you want to contact someone from off-site, contact them on the off-site place first, and then keep any discussion on Neopets without reference to that outside conversation at all.

  9. I just looked in my NC log, and I've won 12 times (assuming every "prize" of 150 NC) is an Expellibox win...). You can play Expellibox 3 times a day (I thought this was a glitch and submitted a ticket, and TNT confirmed that it's supposed to work this way, despite the "come back tomorrow" message), and I used to be able to squeeze in 3 plays most days -- and I've been playing 2-3 times a day with very few misses since it started (if I only had 30 seconds to do Neopets, I'd hit up Expellibox and my bank interest first).

I've had two wins since the transfer: October 2014 and February 2015.

I've often thought that I've won when I landed on the next one over (until I counted), but it does make a different sound, so I usually play with the sound on (low). If your country doesn't allow you to buy NC, then you unfortunately can't win any.

  10. When I went to check on the status of my Ghoul Catchers ticket, I found this message instead:

    Maintenance

The support site you are trying to view is undergoing maintenance to bring you a better experience. You are seeing this page because the site administrator has engaged Parature, from Microsoft to provide great customer service for you.

The maintenance is expected to last from 6am EDT on Tuesday, March 17th, 2015 to 3pm EDT on Tuesday, March 17th, 2015.

    Thank you for your patience.

  11. I don't understand this, because doesn't every other game in Neopia give out NP? I thought we had information about ghoul catchers giving out np and items before it was even released.

Linked-account games haven't typically awarded NP or items, though -- not Petpet Park, and not the only other Facebook game that I had as a reference (Treasure Keepers -- it gave out item codes, which you could redeem on any account on Neopets). There might have been information, but I've been really busy and haven't been reading the news, etc. When I went to Ghoul Keepers, there was no warning/explanation there. You couldn't access the rules until you linked an account.

I understand that you guys who can't connect your mains are in a tough place, and that it's frustrating and doesn't seem fair, but not everyone can play this yet and that's just the way it is right now. Not everyone has a facebook account or wants to connect their facebook and their neopets, or can/want to get it from itunes, or want to play right now while its still so buggy, so I'm willing to bet there are a lot of other people who can't play yet. I'm personally not playing yet either for all the above reasons. I wasn't trying to be a "tattletale" or condemn anyone and I don't think Shane for Wax was either.

I think there's a difference, though, between choosing not to play and not actually being able to play; it would be like someone who refused to install Flash griping that they couldn't use the Habitarium vs. someone who was locked out of their habitarium. But glitches happen, and there are far worse ones on Neopets right now. It's frustrating because there's not much to do on Neopets, and I actually like the game, but it's not worth risking my account. I just hope TNT gives me the benefit of the doubt when they get around to reading my ticket update... (no update today, and I have a feeling they don't respond outside of normal business hours with the pared back staff...)

I had already pointed out that it was problematic to link to a side; having other people repeatedly saying "that's against the rules" felt like an attack, especially when someone was saying it was possible to play on mains in the same post (as if we were just choosing to play on sides out of contempt for the rules). Thank you (and Shane) for explaining that you did not mean it that way.

  12. I think the issue here was the fact of apparently talking over each other.

Then I have zero idea what your earlier post was for given I was never saying everyone can get in on their mains (which is silly I can see all over the place that people can't, I just seem to be lucky in that regard) only that it's possible (because I was able to) because of what post I was responding to which the language seemed to insinuate that main accounts no matter what couldn't log in, and the implication was that it was a universal problem when it came to logging in with a main and that the only solution was apparently to log in on a side. Also that people should be aware of what they're doing by logging in on a side on the meantime and playing (especially given it doesn't matter if they plan on getting onto their main later when things are fixed up they're still earning on the side in the meantime). But all right.

Neither Hert nor I said that "only sides can log in." Just like you were able to see that others couldn't get in on their mains, we could see that plenty of people could get in on their mains. Just because we were talking about our own specific issues (and maybe helping to inform others who might be in similar situations on what not to do, so they don't get stuck like us), that doesn't mean we were implying that those issues applied to everyone. Therefore, I took your response that it is "possible" to get in on mains to imply that Hert and I were doing something wrong and that's why we couldn't get in on our mains -- which is simply not true. That was the "point" of my reply to you (which was really basically only the first part of my earlier post).

The rest of my post was explaining why we linked our sides -- we didn't realize they would actually create items and NP that would go directly into our Neopets account. Multiple people have expressed concern about linking sides given that the game generates NP and items; I think that's a dead horse at this point. To reiterate: If you can't link your main, hold tight! Do not create a new account or link to a side. The game generates NP and items. Wait until TNT responds. That being said, TNT has no official position at this time regarding this very specific issue. Who knows when they'll get the issue resolved? In the meantime, it's not fair that our choices are to either not play or change mains (if we want to be very safe), but Neopets has never been fair.

No one has really addressed how to unlink an account, which would be useful to Hert and me -- we can't put the water back into the broken glass, but we could donate/discard all items and NP we earned and unlink our sides, which would be useful to demonstrate our intent to follow the rules strictly. I think that's because no one really knows. I don't actually know how to turn off an app in Facebook (other than disabling all apps), either. I tried to submit a report via the app, but it just took me to Neopets.com's ticket system, and I already have a ticket in. So... does anyone know how to unlink a Neopets account from GK? And/or how to disable the app?

  13. I never said "mains can't get in and sides can." I said some people can't get in on their mains; the only people who would even try on their sides would be those for whom their mains didn't work (or I guess maybe people who wanted to gather twice the sign-up bonuses... which is clearly cheating, and seemed to be the insinuation some people were making about those of us in the former category).

I have no idea what the issue is; I thought maybe it had something to do with differences in what kind of characters were allowed in the passwords between the two systems (which is why I tried changing my password), but that's not it. I have heard that it seems to be older accounts having issues, but I really don't know. I'm sure TNT are working to figure it out.

My rant about switching mains was more directed at the attitude of people "oh no! you're breaking the rules! how dare you!" when we had no idea how the game worked until we started playing it (it's only once you start playing that the game starts handing you NP and items -- and at that point, it's too late -- the accounts are already linked). If we must play on our main and we can't access the game on our main, our only alternatives are to either not even try the new game or to change main accounts (until TNT fixes it, whenever that is...). As far as I know, TNT has not specifically addressed the issue of signing up with a side either way. While I also agree that we should exercise caution (and I have repeatedly advised others who are locked out not to join on a side), we should also wait until TNT gives clarification before going "this is 100% clearly against the rules." Because there's no real precedence for this; the Treasure Keepers game relied on codes to link your accounts. We have the rule "you can only earn NP and items on your main account," yes, but there's also the rule that if you're locked completely out of your main, you can play on a side until you regain access. As far as I'm aware, there hasn't been a glitch where a part of the site was closed to certain accounts randomly (well, people got locked out of their Habitariums -- and could temporarily create one on their sides to help unlock it -- but that was different, because the glitch was caused by how they played the Habitarium).

In short, I'd advise people who created new accounts/linked to a side without realizing the nature of the game's rewards to not play GK anymore, and to submit a ticket asking for advice on how to unlink and link to their main instead (no response on mine, yet). I'd advise those currently locked out to wait until TNT clarifies before doing anything (besides continuing to try to log on with your main). (So basically, I think we're mostly in agreement.)

Hopefully TNT will answer my ticket tomorrow.

  14. But... it is possible to connect main accounts. They can't tell if it's your main or side to not allow it to load the game.

I logged in just fine and have gotten my rewards. On my main. Also you aren't missing much since it isn't exactly something you can farm np from like habitarium. And the gameplay itself is similar to every other connect-3.

Not when it's saying that your username and password don't match when you're 100% certain they do... some of us are locked out of Ghoul Catchers on our main. That's a fact. It's been acknowledged by TNT, and I know I'm not the only one with the issue. I didn't realize I'd be earning NP and items... I had no idea what the game was and just wanted to try it. But you have to link Ghoul Catchers to a Neopets account if you want to play, and since my main wasn't working, I tried on my side. For now, I'm waiting to see what TNT's response is to my ticket before I play any more. I have a 12+-year-old account with trophies, site themes, avatars, a huge gallery, NC items, a battle pet that would cost over 1M NP to transfer... I'm not going to switch mains just to have access to the same things everyone else can access, things that are supposed to be available to all. But I'm also not going to risk said account trying to access a Facebook game and earn a few extra NP and some rare items...

So I'll wait to see what TNT's official word is regarding fixing the access issue and linking side accounts. I can't unlink my side account (I don't think), but I can stop playing while waiting...

  15.

Yeah, it downloaded automatically when I first visited the page. Which is why I'm a little confused about it not working.

I had to change my Facebook settings to allow apps (and then allow this particular app). I had the never-ending spinning-eye-of-doom, too, until I changed my Facebook settings. This may not be your issue, but I figured I'd throw it out there just in case it is.

  16. Someone suggested I try to connect to my side account since I was getting the username-and-password-don't-match error. I did so, but I hadn't really read anything about the game (besides how to access it), so i didn't realize you would get NP and items. I submitted a ticket about the not-being-able-to-log-in issue, and I updated my ticket to ask what I should do about having it connected to my side. (I don't recommend anyone try adding their side, since you do earn items and NP.) I really hope TNT can figure out how to connect it to my main instead (though I guess it might not be a bad idea to create a junk Facebook account to play on, rather than connecting it to my "real" account -- I'd previously had apps disabled. Obviously, once my main was connected to an account, I'd discard any duplicate prizes, etc., and stick to only playing on one account.).

  17. After I finished my faerie quest cookie FQ, when I try to refresh to try to see if Delina will pop up like last time I get an error that I'm trying to give the wrong item or trying to give an item that isn't in my inventory.

    Rude.

This is actually not a new glitch (or not even really a glitch). It happened to me last Faerie Festival, when I rejected one of my quests (too expensive for the stats) and then accepted my cookie quest. When I refreshed to see the option to hand over the item, it repeated the prior action, rejecting the new quest. I sent in a bug report, and they were basically "that wasn't a bug; don't do that." Stupid, I know...
