Mouseykins
I am unsure how to pm here. But I would love to adopt the UC faerie Wocky :) To use the PM feature, the easiest way to do that is to hover over the person's name you wish to message and under their picture there will be a button that says "send message". You can also go directly to that person's profile and click the send me a message button above the likes indicator. The final way to start a PM is to go to your Personal Messenger by clicking the envelope icon at the top beside your username, click on compose new and then either type in or copy paste the username you wish to send a message to. :) rntracy1
Snowbell
I sent you a message :3 I heard that your sister's draik was stolen. I hope it all works out and your accounts are intact. There has been a lot of hacking lately. Are you quitting? So many people have been quitting lately and its sad :( The community keeps getting smaller. The PC is sometimes pretty hostile and seems to only be interested in UCs and its really hard to trade converted pets.
acmerasta
Hi. Sorry about your hacked account and stolen pets fruitcake. Hope it works out with your sister's account and I'm sorry that you're leaving. I know stuff like this can turn anyone off and the response time from TNT doesn't help. Now, know I've been around for a while but what's the PC?
life_eclectic
Hi. Sorry about your hacked account and stolen pets fruitcake. Hope it works out with your sister's account and I'm sorry that you're leaving. I know stuff like this can turn anyone off and the response time from TNT doesn't help. Now, know I've been around for a while but what's the PC? I think PC refers to "Pound Chat", which is the un-official name for the section of the Neopets boards where people talk about adopting/trading pets. I don't go there, but I have heard people can be rude and get too caught up with just wanting to trade for rare (mainly UC) pets and don't care about the pets. They are also strict about pet names like having to be "well named" and be like three or four letters. I don't think everyone who goes there is like that, some people genuinely want to find a home for pets they are unable to keep, but a lot of people on there are that other way and I think there are better places to find folks who want to adopt and actually care for the pet. fruitcake - I'm sorry to know you're quitting Neopets. Despite all the problems (including frozen and hacked accounts), I still love Neopets and want to keep my pets and keep up with things on the site, but I definitely understand the frustrations. Maybe someday things will change and you will want to come back. In any case, I wish you the best! acmerasta
acmerasta
Thanks funkydragondiva! I understand about the foul behavior. I actually started playing neopets from way back at the beginning but I lost my first account due to hacking. There was a guy that frequented the forums and was in a guild I was in. He was really into high scores, trophies and avatars. I thought he was an okay guy if a bit too serious about scores and such. Other people complained that he was obnoxious and aggressive towards them. Well I learnt later that he would befriend players then hack their accounts and get them frozen. When my account was frozen, TNT didn't care. To them it looked like I played a game and submitted a really high score and it looked like I cheated. When I checked, he'd transferred the Ruki and Orange Gruundo I'd had. Suffice to say, I left neopets for a few years. It was just too depressing. I'd worked hard on my account and I couldn't do it again at that time. When I came back, I've stayed away from the forums and I never joined a guild again. A number of the people that were in that guild with me have been frozen or stopped playing entirely and that guy eventually got frozen too. rntracy1
It is definitely hard to know who it is safe to be friends with. I check things out on the boards to see what is going on, but I NEVER EVER post on them. For one, people are just rude, as Funkydragondiva said, and also, you never know what information could be used against you.
nicolelouise
I had an interesting experience recently with the PC. I found it absolutely obsessed with UC's and well-named pets, as stated above, except I couldn't for the life of me work out what the majority of the acronyms stood for, so I didn't ACTUALLY know what it was they were so obsessed with. I asked a couple of questions on some of the threads and got roundly ignored. But then a random PC'er who'd seen me ask the questions PM'ed me and answered all my questions and we had a bit of a chat for a day or two. Which was nice of her. And unexpected. And completely unlike everyone else I came across on the PC. The other thing I discovered was threads of people pound surfing looking for well named (WN) and very well named (VWN) pets and then posting their finds for others and chatting about the names. They're into real world names, the shorter the better. So, I have a Kacheek on one of my side accounts and her name is a surname in Indonesia. It could get a favourable mention because it's a real-world name, but it's not a traditional first name, and it's not short (it's seven letters long and they seem to like five or less), so I don't know how she'd go. Not that I'm planning to pound her at the point in time but... Anyway, I just found that in interesting phenomena. I wasn't sure if it was a public service or if it was more of an idle interest with no actual intention to adopt, in the same way that I might chat with someone about foreign destinations that interest me but with no actual intention of travelling right now, or if it was something a bit more predatory. I wasn't sure if these people would swap out their pets at the drop of a hat if a better-named pet came along which made me wonder about their attachment to their pets. *shrugs* Fruitcake, I'm not here to ask for a pet. I have plenty. (Although the plushie draik is VERY cute! But I already have a draik.) I'm sorry to see you go, and good luck for the future. Maybe you'll come back to Neopets sometime in the future like acmerasta did. If you do, make sure you come back to TDN! acmerasta and aminoshiki
