jennybean
So I'm having kind of a rough time right now. I just moved and left some of my closest friends 2000 miles away, I'm going through some personal issues, I was recently discharged from the hospital, I'll probably need some serious surgery this summer, and I'm just all around having a rough time because I'm having a tough time making new friends here. In short, I'd love the help of the awesome TDN Neopians to help me with a little pick-me-up, maybe? So, what always makes you laugh or smile when you're feeling down? Favorite jokes, pictures, or whatever? :) I love surrounding myself with happy people, and Neopets is my own little corner of the internet where I can go to escape the world. I figure putting the two together will yield some fantastic results :)
Mouseykins
Awe I'm sorry to hear you've been having a rough time lately. I hope things get better for you! :) When I'm feeling a little down I usually try to snuggle with my puppy if she's around. Other things I like to do is dive into a good book, or do some writing. I hardly ever get a chance to read or write these days. My favourite thing to do though is spend time with my daughter and snuggle with her. :) jennybean
emily_speck_15
read. Pick up a good book.... Whatever genre you like, it doesn't matter. you can get lost in anything and avoid reality for hours at a time. Try City of Bones. It has action, romance, and magic. Or Perks of Being a Wallflower. It's about a kid going through a hard time in high school. LillytheGrundo and jennybean

He'd pretty rowdy, but when he's sleeping, I definitely take advantage of the opportunity and just let him sleep on my lap! I know what you mean about not having time to read or write. Grad school drains so much of my time, and I feel like all my reading is always for class (I can't imagine that's healthy :p ). But I love, love reading and writing, too! :)
Duskitty
Aww! :( I'm so sorry your life is hard right now. You seem like a wonderful person, though, and I bet there are many who would be fortunate to meet you. ^_^ I usually go and watch funny/cute videos of cats and things. I have a folder in my bookmarks bar of cute things for when I'm feeling down. LillytheGrundo
Hey there! I'm sorry you're going through a rough patch... You may want to try to watch this great TED talk. I watched it the other night, and this woman totally blew my mind. It's about being in a really bad place in your mind and working your way out of it. I've also heard that she has a web site called Super Better that has helped a lot of people as well. Here's the link to her talk. It's really worth the watch. :-) http://www.ted.com/talks/jane_mcgonigal_the_game_that_can_give_you_10_extra_years_of_life.html Good luck! jennybean
Dashana
Hey, I know exactly how you feel. I had to transfer from a private school last summer because of my dad, transferred to a new school, transferred back again. I went through a whole bunch of things, but I'm still here. What I tell myself when I'm feeling down is this; You're probably better off than a million people in the world. Hope it helps, and good luck in life! :)
Rebecca~
Awww, I am so sorry that you're having such a rough time! :( Some of the others have already posted my go-to feel better materials, but I also tend to go for Disney films. They allow me to regress to my childhood, and just enjoy something that is silly and fun and heartwarming for a couple of hours (and I usually sing my heart out!) My puppy is very hyper and loves to play but once she's curled up, she's the perfect snuggling companion and I find her company to be rather soothing when I'm in a bad mood. Rebecca's Disney movie activity is fun too. Except when it's the same Disney movie repeatedly!! My daughter controls the movie selection most days and for a while it was Tinker Bell all day, every day. :P Rebecca~
Zephyr
Aw, I'm really sorry to hear that. I hope things improve for you soon *big hugs* Besides reading, what I like to do is to listen to light or fast-beat music. It gets me pumped up in no time :) The other thing I like to do is to watch funny shows. My personal current fav is Korean rom-com: short & sweet. I won't examine the plot too closely since the point is to relax. Once, I caught a cold & after laughing my way through an hour long program, I felt better; at the very least not so frustrated c: Lastly I'll try to get out of my house to catch some sunlight (& get some vit D in the process). I hope you find something that works for you. Fighting! :)
pheddy
Just do something for yourself that makes you happy :) I do have a hilarious joke for you: Two muffins are in an oven, the first one says "Man it is really hot in here" The second one says "Holy crap a talking muffin!" Also something I found really funny: Go to google translate, and type "....................." from English to Japanese
Kyurri
Aww... Life will get better. Just go get some ice cream. Or some popular comedy website like 9gag (if you like). Or find a group and fangirl with them. Do something you like. It should cheer you up a bit.
jennybean
Thanks so much, everyone! I appreciate all of the positive wishes and suggestions! In the end, I neglected my homework (completely worth it, even if it means I've got a long day ahead of me today :p ) and instead did some reading for pleasure, then I played a Disney movie in the background while I splurged and spent all of my saved Neopoints for one of my dreamies (now I have a Desert Lutari! Woo!). This community makes me really happy, and I really appreciate every single one of you who took the time to send along warm wishes, hugs, suggestions, videos, pictures, and jokes <3 Rebecca~ and LillytheGrundo
missmadiemay
Sorry you're having a rough time Jenny! If you're in a nice area, take your book outside! Vitamin D always does the body good. Or you could do what I do and go shopping lol. That retail therapy... ;) jennybean

Desert Lutaris are really lovely, and it's always nice to spend your NP on a dream pet! :D I'm so glad that you took a day to yourself and engaged in a little self care. :) jennybean
