Site Elders

So, I was just browsing the Top Posters page, seeing how close I was to the front page (not far now. :P ) when I saw that both Noog and Superfly were in a group called 'Site Elders'. Upon further investigation, I found that Izzy is too. Now, my question is: what exactly is a Site Elder? How would you become one? What are their advantages, their perks, their duties? Thanks for answering, whoever answers. :)

First of all, you need to have been a TDN staff member to be qualified.

To quote Ian:

Site Elders are staff members of The Daily Neopets who have been on our team for several years. Site Elders do not have any expected responsibilities to the site, but are still involved in the site's staff community to give vision, direction, guidance, and friendship (because they're too awesome to call "not staff" anymore). They are welcome to contribute to any project they wish freely.

Site Elders are welcomed to be a part of all TDN-related meetings and give their invaluable thoughts and opinions.

So you would have had to be a staff member before to qualify, but you don't have to be one now? Sorry if that questions confusing. I just mean - are they just regular members 'not staff' who used to be staff? Also, is there a thread somewhere where I can find all the ranks and there perks? For example, post counts and how many likes you can give/other benefits to having a higher post count... if there are any?

Thank you! Sorry if my question is confusing.

Some of the site Elders still have forum titles (Superfly for example is still a site admin and still works on things), and some resigned because of other commitments and appear like other forum members would (Noog for example appears like a regular member, albeit with Fntastic Member title because of his super awesome high post count), but to be a site elder, you would have had to be staff at one point or another, as it states in the quote Xepha posted.

That thread described the ranking for non-staff.

Emily, the 3 sites elders appear under the staff elder forum mask (color) :P Noog is not showing as a FM.

To become a site elder, you need to have been part of TDN staff for a long time and have contributed a lot. Site elders no longer work under any head of department and are free to stop by and give their insight on any TDN issues and projects. Basically, they are cool and we don't want to let them go :P
