Spritzie
No one could ever shorted my name, considering it's already 4 letters. Anything trying to shorten it, wouldn't sound right. My nickname in middle school was Zilla, all because I made the mistake of mimicking my dad, when he said city name as he ate pieces of an ice cream cone, in front of my best friend. :laughingsmiley:
-Ryan
Gratz, swim! ^^ And mines 4 letters too. Athough there was a short lived thing where my 6th grade teacher called me Ry.
Captain Awesome Pants
Yeah, mine's five, but it's still hard to shorten 'Laura' without sounding like an idiot.
-Ryan
You could alwas call yourself Aura. That would be kinda cool. xD

Spritzie
Yeah, mine's five, but it's still hard to shorten 'Laura' without sounding like an idiot. I have you beat. lol My name is Lara. :laughingsmiley: My mother-in-law calls me Lar though. <_<
Nyssa
I would say 'La' for Laura or Lara.. or Larissa or something like that. As for my day.. it's vacation-time, so I woke up at 11:30 am (which felt sooo good), did some homework and played on my xbox 360. Tomorrow I'm gonna go see 'Valentines Day' (the movie) and eat Sushi with my friends, yay! And, again, CAV: I know how you feel, trust me. When I was about your age my whole school hated me for no other reason than that I was different from them (I used to be a goth). So my high school period SUCKED. I was called ugly, gay, stupid, dumb.. whatever. But now I'm in college (sort of, it's different in my country, but it's comparable) and everything is fine. I have friends, I have a boyfriend (2,5 years and counting!) and things are better. You're 13, you're waaay too young to start thinking about sex and stuff like that. Like everyone said, focus on your school work. It may not seem important to you now, but it will be in a few more years. [/rant]
Spritzie
I'd prefer 'La' to 'Lar' It just doesn't sound right to me. But people have always been fairly good about calling me by my regular name. (Now pronouncing it properly, that's a whole different story. :laughingsmiley: )
Swim freak
I'd prefer 'La' to 'Lar' It just doesn't sound right to me. But people have always been fairly good about calling me by my regular name. (Now pronouncing it properly, that's a whole different story. :laughingsmiley: ) The thing that annoys me about my name is that it's a really popular one so everyone has it. After awhile it gets pretty annoying to hear "Julia" and say "yes" just to be told "not you!" I think thats why I've often been labeled as Jules. Nyssa
Well, my name is pretty uncommon and still people call me "Lisa, Marissa, Nessa, Vanessa". I've even been called Nessy. Now how does that sound like 'Nyssa'?
Spritzie
I've always preferred unique names. Like my mom, she was a Debbie in the 50s. My dad, he shares a first and last name with a former CO senator, there's at least 5 men in our city with his first and last. So when they named my sister and I, they went more creative. -Ryan
Hello Irene, i'm more than likely to scare you after a few days. I'm obsessed with squirrels and it gets creepy after a while. Back to nicknames: I've been trying to get people to call me Super Squirrel but squirrel boy and the "I'm a nerd" kid have stuck. xD
Spritzie
SS... don't you realize? You're not allowed to give yourself your own nicknames. It's against the Nickname Rules of Etiquette. :laughingsmiley:
Shane for Wax
I'm legal now! Whoo hoo for me! I can legally drink!
Spritzie
I'm legal now! Whoo hoo for me! I can legally drink! Happy birthday! That's exciting. Do you have any special plans? On my 21st birthday, I went to Olive Garden with my family and got a strawberry daiquiri. But then again, I'm not a big drinker at all. I've probably drank more since I got married (8 months ago) then I did the entire 3 years before that, that I was 21. :laughingsmiley:
Swim freak
Happy Birthday! that must be exciting being able to drink now.
Spritzie
When I turned 21, I didn't think it was that big of deal. No one in my family, except my sister (occasionally) drinks. Right before I turned 21, I found my best friend was diagnosed with diabetes. So she couldn't drink very often. And I'm a social drinker. I like to have 1 drink, with friends. Or for a special occasion. That's it.
Swim freak
even though I'm not at the age where I can drink yet, I really not think I ever want to. I mean I know I still have awhile to think about this I just don't really agree with it. Though that's just my opinion and anyone who wants to drink I'm fine with its just me. *shrugs*
Spritzie
Yeah, I can understand that. The only time I mind it, is when people drink too much, or they're obnoxious.
Swim freak
Ya or when they become violent... I've had some bad experiences with that
Spritzie
I've been hung around people that drink much. The only people I've been around that do, is my aunt and uncle. They like beer. But they've never had too much, that I've seen.
