Divya Bean Posted March 8, 2010 Posted March 8, 2010 Oh, I hope he becomes a good lawyer :) ! I know this is KINDA of topic, but today in school I was super duper happy because I got aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa 100 percent on my science test!!! Yessss! I though I failed but I just checked my grades on this powerschool site and it said 100%!!! YAYYYYYY! :graduated: Quote
Swim freak Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 Right now I'm in algebra, it's ok though i cant wait until its over. I got my first C in that class, though I've raised it now to a B. :) when i grow up I want to be an research doctor. My big goal is to find the cure to cancer :) I know its a big goal so if that doesn't work out I'm ok. My back up is forensic scientist. It's weird math is my worst subject and science is my best. You would think since they go hand and hand they I would be good in both or neither but I had a bad experience with math in 5th grade... So I never really learned some of the basics of math it really stinks Quote
Spritzie Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 Math is my worst... though Science is my 2nd best. Often, it breaks up into science/math and language/history. But I take from each, the language, then science. That would be awesome. A cure for cancer would be amazing. My grandma was diagnosed with cancer when my mom was pregnant with me. They gave her 6 months to live. She died in Nov. 08. Which was 23 years after they gave her 6 months. She did chemo, and was eventually considered cancer-free. Though when she got sick again at the end, they found she had bone cancer, and that cancer was technically never gone. Quote
Divya Bean Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 I am so sorry! But I am very glad that she lived for 23 years more than she was supposed to. I hope my parents live a long long long time! Quote

Divya Bean Posted March 10, 2010 Posted March 10, 2010 Finding a cure would be great! Personally, I want to be a cardiologist. The heart has always fascinated me. Plus a lot people have heart problems. Quote
Toyz Posted March 10, 2010 Posted March 10, 2010 Hey, last year I raised hundreds of pounds for Cancer research, it ruins so many lifes :( Quote
Spritzie Posted March 10, 2010 Posted March 10, 2010 Spritzie iam sorry your mom pasted from cancer I hope they find a cure for it someday I know how it is to lose you mom since my mom died a year a go from a heart condition Thank you. It was actually my grandmother. But I know how hard it can be, not only because of how close I was to her, but my mom and my grandma were extremely close. Finding a cure would be great! Personally, I want to be a cardiologist. The heart has always fascinated me. Plus a lot people have heart problems. I know a lot of people like that. My grandpa had 4 or 5 heart attacks. My mother-in-law has had a couple. So has my father-in-law. Hey, last year I raised hundreds of pounds for Cancer research, it ruins so many lifes :( That's incredible. I do what I can to support it. My sister used to do the Cancer Walks they do here, with the women from work. Since my grandma had cancer, it's hit closer to home for my family. Quote
Divya Bean Posted March 10, 2010 Posted March 10, 2010 Yeah I did a hissi Cancer 5 km run. It was $50 per person so they must have raised A LOT because at least 300 people it!! EDIT: And thank you so much Spritzie for the Green Kacheek Biscuit Jar! I kept it in my SDB and now I officially have 618 items!!! Thanks! Quote
Spritzie Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 You're very welcome. I thought of you when I saw it. So I had to get it for you. :) Quote

Nyssa Posted March 12, 2010 Posted March 12, 2010 Finding a cure would be great! Personally, I want to be a cardiologist. The heart has always fascinated me. Plus a lot people have heart problems. Wow, really? I'm learning basic cardiology stuff in school now and I must say it's REALLY hard :worried: it's so complicated. As for cancer.. yeah it sucks. My sympathies to anyone who has lost someone because of it. I am wondering though.. if someone has lung cancer, but he/she is a smoker, do you still feel bad for them, or would you consider it 'their own fault'? (question to everyone) Quote
Divya Bean Posted March 12, 2010 Posted March 12, 2010 Sometimes I would and sometimes I wouldnt. Like my dad, he smokes 1 cigarette a day (max) and he is trying REALLY REALLY REALLY hard to quit. Same with all of my neighbors. But then are people to dont care and they think smoking is cool. Quote
Spritzie Posted March 12, 2010 Posted March 12, 2010 I am wondering though.. if someone has lung cancer, but he/she is a smoker, do you still feel bad for them, or would you consider it 'their own fault'? (question to everyone) This one, I'm torn on. Some people, do it for stress reasons. (Like my husband and his family) Others... well, I honestly have no idea why they do it. I've never smoked, never tried it. I really dislike it. My husband was a smoker. (As is his parents) He started when he was 11. He smoked until 21. When we got together, he quit completely. This is kinda similar to people who get skin cancer. If it was someone who would purposefully get sunburns, or whatever, just to look tan. Or was it like my grandpa, who was a crane operator, who spent 10 hour days, on top of cranes so high, that you went up in the morning and stayed until the day was over. He had skin cancer on his ears from that. My mom used to lay out in the sun to tan when she was younger, putting on baby oil. But that was before people knew about the damage and skin cancer. Or with me, I loved being outside. I used sunscreen most of the time. I burned a couple times every summer, almost. I have extremely fair skin. I can put on massive amounts of sunscreen, and I still burn. I do better now... but if it happened to me... it wouldn't be a horribly shocking thing, since I know how fair my skin is. Quote
Nyssa Posted March 12, 2010 Posted March 12, 2010 I know, it's kind of a mean question ;p but not to judge, I'm just curious. I think that people (me included of course) always judge. Even if it's just for a second. Like when we see someone who is obese and he/she is eating a burger and fries. If it's just for a second, we think 'no wonder he/she is obese'. I think it's the same with smokers and lung cancer. Quote
Divya Bean Posted March 12, 2010 Posted March 12, 2010 Yes I totally agree. Even though it is KINDA mean, it is human nature I guess. I just really hope that I am not like that when I grow up, obese or smoker. Quote

(question to everyone) I would still feel bad for them because they may have started before people knew as much about smoking and everything today, basically you just never know why she started so I still feel bad for anyone who is put in the situation of having cancer. -Ryan Posted March 13, 2010 Posted March 13, 2010 I have to agree with Swim Freak on that. But they can't really use the addicting excuse becasue they had to ahve started by themselves and they have anti-smoker pills... Also, today has been my best day ever! ^^ 1. I turned 13 today 2. Me and my mom went to Dunkin doughnuts for breakfast and they gave me a free doughnut 3. Half day at schol 4. No homework 5. Did nothing but have fn at school today 6. I think it's the same with smokers and lung cancer. No. I agree with what you're saying. It was definitely easier for me to judge before. I never knew anyone that smoked personally. But now I do know a bit more behind the scenes. But even then... it can be quick. Though with the obese thing... I have a way easier time understanding that. My grandma was a Type 1 diabetic. She had to be on insulin. She followed her eating plan, and watched her diet meticulously. She exercised as much as she could for her age. And because of the insulin, she could not lose weight. If she wasn't absolutely crazy careful, she would gain, for no reason at all. Plus I've known many people who gained due to medications. Though the majority of the time, it isn't a medical reason. A lot of people just don't care. I would still feel bad for them because they may have started before people knew as much about smoking and everything today, basically you just never know why she started so I still feel bad for anyone who is put in the situation of having cancer.
