Are you open about Neo?

I was wondering if you were open about Neopets. Like if you talk about it, or even if anyone were to even know you play.

 

The only people who know are my family. Which I regret one of my brothers know because he constantly mocks me for it. I mean, I enjoy Neopets and he just mocks me for it. He is 16 and played online games like Neopets till he was 15... I know it shouldn't get to me, but it does. I can't really explain why. But no one at school or anywhere else knows that I play, and I intend to keep it that way.

 

So are you "open" about Neopets? Who else knows? Struggles?

Well, yes and no. To some of my friends yes, definitely to the friends that still do, and those that have never played Neo before sort of do, but I really don't talk about it to them. My mom totally knows (and not to mention is always irritated when I buy NC), but as for most friends that used to play as kids but no longer do; not really. I don't bring it up around them; unless they see the Neopets drawings in my sketchbook. XD

Neopets is one of the few if not the only thing i'm rather self-concious about. Very few know I play it.

Not really. The only people (outside of the internet) that know I play are my parents and brother and they don't talk to me about it much.

However, I do reference Neopets from time to time around my friends and even show them some Neopets doodles (but they don't know they're Neopets doodles, just random animals) but like, I've never actually told them I play Neopets.

My friends and I got into it when we were 12. Most of us are now in our 20s. A few of us still play and those who don't know the others do. My roommates know and used to play themselves. If anyone asks, I'm not going to lie. And let's be honest, how often does neopets come up with people you don't know/ don't know well? It's not like you introduce yourself by going up to someone and saying "Hi, nice to meet you. I play neopets". To me, it's not really a big deal.

Only my older sister knows, but we don't talk about it. Although she does tell me from time to time, to stop playing games =(

 

My parents think I've stopped - my dad tried to ban me one from playing. Now that I'm >20 years old, I can buy NC, although I only buy if I think my account/pets really need it.

 

My friends don't know and it's going to stay that way - it's already bad enough that they think I'm weird o_O

 

And who knows maybe all the university students that walk past me when I'm on Neopets know by now I play it :O

I don't hide it at all. I always post things about Neopets on my blog, I play Treasure Keepers on Facebook, there are always Neopets tabs open on my web browser and a lot of people use my computer when they're here. I see nothing to be ashamed about. :)

I don't necessarily hide it, but I guess I'm not all that open about it either. My husband knows, partly because he has an account too (though he rarely uses it). I do find myself talking aloud about Neopets when we have friends over & then I feel a bit embarrassed trying to explain to them what the site is and all.

 

Still, it isn't as though I'll stop playing it if one of my friends does say "it's weird." I guess that's mostly because I'm just used to being weird :)

I joke about it with everyone if it happens to come up. I don't have a problem mentioning it. I figure I shouldn't have to hide playing a game around people. If they judge me for it, they aren't worth talking to in the first place, and this comes from a stay at home mom.

Most people around me don't know because I don't see the need to tell anyone. I don't allow others access to my computer for other reasons.

 

My cousin and ex roommate know I play and one of my friends. That's about it. Because when they've stayed over I haven't hid the fact I play it.

It's not something I start conversations with, but if asked I say yes. It does occasionally come up in refrence to TDN, as I'm rather proud of being part of the site for so long and mention modding whenever I can. xD For the most part, though, the only ones who really know how much I play are my family and my roommate.

I'm terrible. My mum and my little sister know, but not my dad or anyone else in my family. I haven't specifically told my friends, but a couple of times there's been a picture I've done pop up when going through my computer, so some of them may or may not know. I wouldn't mind them knowing too much, it's some other people I know that wouldn't let me hear the end of it. <_<

I'm not the most normal person you'd see around, so a little more weirdness won't make a big difference. After I tell them, I go "DON'T JUDGE ME. WHY YOU JUDGE ME D8" and just like that, they can't really say anything because I'm so open about it! I tell everyone, so there's no point even if they discuss it with someone else, cause their convo would go like:

 

DUUDE. That girl is SO weird she plays Neop-

Yea, I know.

Isn't that weird??

Super, AND she's letting it get in the way of her studies. Complains to me about it all the time. xD

I think it's not needed to tell them, i'll play it anyways, so it doesn't matter if i tell them, and they find me strange enough, 'cause i am 0:) ;)

I just don't want to bother people by telling them something they don't need to hear, so i just don't tell them.

Simple as that.

 

BUT I WILL NEVER LIE ABOUT IT, they'll find it very stupid if you lie about it and then find out.

But i'm not going to post a new status update on facebook every week that says: I PLAY NEOPETS, COME JOIN THE COOL WEBSITE, AND, IF YOU'VE GOT ANY TIME, JOIN TDN TOO :evo:

My best friend knows, because I was the one who referred her to the website. :P

 

I'm assuming my college roommate knows, but she's never made any comments about it. She probably thinks it's just another random website I browse. Ditto for my father.

 

Even though he should know because I have a used Neocash card sitting right by his computer. I kind of wish my roommate would ask about Neopets, because I'm sure she'll love it. She loves cute things and animals, and Neopets are pretty cute.

 

Other than that, I don't even bring it up in conversation. I'm not ashamed that I play it; it just never comes up when talking to people.

I don't exactly lie about it but neither do I tell everyone that I'm on it. If a close friend asked then I wouldn't lie but it's not something I mention in everyday conversation.

I've very open about it. Pretty much everyone knows I play. My older sister (who is 29) still plays. My parents know, and have known all along. My husband knows, and he also plays. His family knows. (His sister used to play.) And even my manager and co-workers at work know. (We have a lot of downtime, where we can do whatever we want, so what each person does comes up in conversation.)

I'm not a person who is that OPEN into revealing that I play Neopets. My family and a couple of my friends are the only ones who knows that I play Neopets, that's all. :P

I have a couple of RL friends who play, and obviously I'm very open about it with them, but otherwise I don't really talk about it. If I was asked I'd say yes, but it doesn't really come up much and I don't really bring it up.

Am I open about Neopets? Of course I am. I just don't like to hide my interest for Neopets, especially after 9^1/2 years of playing. I have a few Facebook friends who are into Neopets, alongside with some of my friends from the various Neopets forums I go to (including this one). Anywhere that's not a Neopets fan site or forum, I'm feel like the resident Neopets addict of that other site/forum since not many of the other members over there are into it.

My parents and my sister know that I play neo, they don't mind or something. My sister plays neo too sometimes. I also had 3 friends who played neo and they knew that I played too, but I don't see them in real life anymore. I don't think I have to be ashamed for playing neo, but it's not like I'm sharing it with everybody...

I used too, until people started to say crap to me about it. So now, I barley talk about it, if not at all. I love my pets but am scared to talk about them and be open about them. For awhile Neopets was ruined for me and I didn't play for two weeks.

I don't talk about it, cause Neopets isn't so know in my country but my closest friends know, my ex-boyfriend knew, my family knows so .. if I do ever mention Neopets I do it with proud. I don't care what others think and actually I don't think anyone would mock me for it .. they're all scared of me :evil: haha :D

 

Well actually the only person who does mock me about Neo. is my dad. But I just ignore him :)

This is a fun and good question lol. I am in college and I still play neopets. I love it and there isn't anyone who can make me stop plying or make me ashamed of it. Its an online game just like what those people who mock neopets plays. Just a little different and with cartoonish looking graphics. Anyone ever play Dofus? People mock me for that game too and I always have a non-verbal comback having to do with my hand :P If people see me playing those games and ask about it I tell them and I am porudly playing treasure keepers on facebook where others can see that I am into that game too.
