rachiee Posted April 6, 2011 Posted April 6, 2011 For those who haven't heard of it, Speedtest is a website that measures your ISP's ping, upload and download speed. I love Verizon. ^_^ It's so much faster compared to dial-up, which my family had about five years ago. xD Anyway, post your results here. :)
Guest ErikaChristine Posted April 6, 2011 Posted April 6, 2011 I have the worst internet connexion ever. It cuts out all of the time. Argh.
Tank Girl Posted April 7, 2011 Posted April 7, 2011 It's supposed to be 50!! Stoopid Virgin Media, bunch of con artists.
Masaryk Posted April 7, 2011 Posted April 7, 2011 I took one look at your times, Erika, and went o_O . I'm also with Shaw, and my speeds don't seem that bad. So, I ran the test, and these are my results: Go figure. My upload speed sucks, but the download is pretty awesome.
antiaircraft Posted April 7, 2011 Posted April 7, 2011 Just for the sake of nitpicking, I should mention that these tests are generally quite approximate, as they don't account for the load on different test servers, local networks, etc. For example, the download speed result I got from this test is about 16 times faster than my average transfer speed when pulling actual files from nearby servers.
Xepha Posted April 7, 2011 Posted April 7, 2011 Here you have my results... which are not too bad I think.
Guest Yoshinho Posted April 9, 2011 Posted April 9, 2011 Well there you go. the Upload is messed up because someone is playing CoD Online on the same network in my house.
Suus Posted April 10, 2011 Posted April 10, 2011 I don't think this is true... (maybe I just don't want to believe it's true) But, when I did it a second time, I got a different result, especially on the ping-thing: Weird <_<
antiaircraft Posted April 11, 2011 Posted April 11, 2011 Your connection speed will vary considerably with time - and since ping is measured in milliseconds, it can vary quite a lot.
Suus Posted April 11, 2011 Posted April 11, 2011 Your connection speed will vary considerably with time - and since ping is measured in milliseconds, it can vary quite a lot. Oh, okay! Thank you for pointing that out ^_^
ThisIsJ Posted April 13, 2011 Posted April 13, 2011 I don't exactly know what all this means, but I feel like I usually have a good connection.
Andheri Posted April 16, 2011 Posted April 16, 2011 I blame RoadRunner for this: http://www.use.com/images/s_3/f94ed85d95d706dce7be.jpg It's horrible. :] Ah well, Neopets usually runs fine with quite a few other tabs open, but I'm not up for heavy downloads in gaming.
hrtbrk Posted April 16, 2011 Posted April 16, 2011 Oo this is cool. Sure renders interesting results.
Emily Posted April 17, 2011 Posted April 17, 2011 mehhh. I can have Habitarium open and play KQ without major problems. That's how I judge my connections lol. Though if my roommate is using his Apple TV, things slow down a bit.
xLaura Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 verizon fios, not the fake kind, the real kind. pay a pretty penny for it too
queensorchadragon Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 Meh. It's an A at my parents' house. I'm living with my grandparents though. Honestly, I think computer speed has much more to do with keyquest etc than connection speed does... My internet is pretty good but my computer can hardly handle keyquest.
siniri Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 It's not even DSL, either, but AT&T's allegedly faster (and more expensive) Uverse service. It goes out quite often, especially when it storms, but AT&T won't come out and service it -- even though we have a utility cable down across our driveway (every utility company claims it's not theirs). Really not happy to be paying more for such terrible service (I just moved here a month ago) -- I can barely use Skype, which is my only phone service.
Guest Yoshinho Posted May 13, 2011 Posted May 13, 2011 Then switch to something else or another cable company if it is like this.

Guest Yoshinho Posted May 14, 2011 Posted May 14, 2011 Comcast is not really that bad. I used to have comcast and it was all good.
Jeran Posted May 15, 2011 Posted May 15, 2011 Actually it kinda is not really that good. :P Thanks. I feel much better now. :P To be fair though, the server was in a different State. :worried: Do you know of a way to make the results better?
