rouge antivirus (scareware) etc on neopets

rouge avs are getting worser and worser

these are lurking on neopets you will recive a popup that bypasses most popupblockers highjacking your internet browser and installs itself onto your mashine there it unleashes heres a example

also to prevent getting this endtask your internet browser and run ccleaner and a malwarebytes scan

also for viruses i use microsoft secuity essendals

its all over again

I believe the original poster is referring to scareware, which is essentially a virus disguised as antivirus software, which a website then tries to trick you into installing.

 

TNT seriously needs to tighten up on their advertising provider. <_<

I came across this scareware over a month ago, and I wasn't happy at all. :sad01_anim:

These things really "scare" you into thinking that you have a lot of virus when you clearly don't.

I'm happy that my brother helped me on removing that rogue software.

Also, don't click any advertisements on Neopets at all. I basically ignore those ads by the way.

It's actually possible to get rid of the advertisements on Neopets altogether if you want. :yes: Check out the ad blocking tutorials on our site.

I know how to remove some scareware but it is a pain in the FILTEREDWORD to remove. I have to boot into safe mode (F8 while booting) delete all scareware files, remove registry entries regarding it. Run CCleaner then run advanced disk cleanup utility(built into windows computers) then restart and see what happens. Some of those nasty things remove after that, some don't.
