  1. Hi everyone,

I wasn't here when the original Obelisk war plot happened, so I just join factions randomly so I get different battledome opponents to fight.  I see now that many people here try to join the same faction to try and work together towards winning.  I will try that out next time.

Has that worked out well for you?  Are there enough folks here to make a difference in the outcome?

Speaking of trying to win, I'm curious who you pick to fight.  My battledome pet isn't powerful enough to take on the leaders yet, though I can win now against the level 175 guys with enough effort.  Should I be using my 10 battles against the highest level I can defeat or should I be sure to beat each opponent a few times every day?

Does difficulty make a difference?   Should I choose the harder version (red) of the first level opponent or a medium version (yellow) of the next level up?  Is there any way to tell if you're doing well?

  2. update - I did some 2 player tests.

The healing only kicks in if you're wounded and your opponent has 35 points for you to steal.  You do not have to be blocking anything else for the stealing/healing to work.  For example, I used a lens flare, which meant there wasn't any attack for me to defend against, and it still worked.

Once it does the healing trick, it disappears for the rest of the battle but not forever.  It's still equipped for the next fight.

Also, it normally defends with 2 fire icons against a fire attack unless the attack also includes a physical attack.  Then it defends against 4 fire icons.  There may be other attack combinations that increase the fire defense that I haven't tried yet.

Also, the water or earth icons have stayed at 2 so far.

I did use the 35 point healing trick and the 15 point faerie healing dust in the same battle.   That's pretty nifty.

As a new addict to the battledome, I have to say that the yo-yo is a great prize.

    Original post

It's probably not random.  I've only tested it in 1-player mode, so I can't see exactly why it does things (2 vs. 4 fire icons, for example).  I'm sure it was waiting for me to be wounded or something before healing me, but I haven't tested it properly to say that f or sure.

  3. Thank you, lampost, for the advice.  I will definitely get a human involved in my next tests because...

OMG OMG OMG.  The dangerous maraquan yo-yo HEALS for 35 points!  Not only that, it takes the 35 points from your opponent.

I was trying to figure out what the koi warrior's strength multiplier was so I was letting him hit me for a few rounds and then, randomly, the yo-yo defended 4 fire, 2 water, and stole 35 hit points from the quite surprised koi, who promptly died.

  4. Thought I would test out the Dangerous Maraquan Yo-yo we got at the end of Daily Dare 2016 and discovered it was a defensive weapon, which is harder to test in 1P than I thought it would be.

First time I used it, it defended 2 fire icons, 2 water icons, and 2 earth icons.

Second time, it defended 4 fire icons, 2 water icons, and 2 earth icons.

Third time, it defended 4 fire icons only.

Fourth time, it defended 4 fire icons and 2 water icons. No earth icons were mentioned.

It would say different things each time such as "you fling your yo-yo to defend against the water attack" or "the physical attack" but I don't think that affected the number icons directly.

I realize now that I should have recorded more details of each battle and if anyone has a good guide to testing things (like what to write down), I'd be happy to follow it, but so far I can say it's multi-use, defends 2-4 fire icons, 2 water icons, and 0-2 earth icons.

  5. update: So the Volleyball on Fire that I thought was defending me by blocking actually disappeared.   Don't know if it's a glitch or there was a chance of the volleyball breaking or maybe I missed a message or something, but I no longer have my shiny new (though flaming) volleyball in the battledome  :sad01_anim:.

previous post: It looks like the Volleyball also does defense!

"The Volleyball on Fire sails through the air, drying up Giant Spectral Mutant Walein's water attack as it falls!" and blocked 3 water icons.

  6. It happened to me yesterday as well.  Refreshing didn't help.  Logging out and back in didn't help.

Buying things worked but I couldn't train because I couldn't actually pay my codestones since I had no inventory.

It fixed itself in about an hour, though, and has been normal today.

  7. Well, look at that.  It's there at the bottom of the list.
I didn't get a little window announcing the avatar after the battle and just assumed it wasn't there, but it was!
    Thank you

  8. I've recently returned to neopets after years away and have started playing in the battledome (1 player).  I don't remember exactly how battledome avatars worked, but I might have stumbled upon a glitch of some kind.

I got a new challenger, Black Pteri, in a random "Something Has Happened", so I went off to fight him.  I won, but no avatar appeared.  Is this a bug or do I have to fight and win a certain number of times or something?
