  1. I'm at rank four, but I had to skip a day already for some family stuff.

I'd say I'd like to hit All-Star, but between my bizarre work schedule (I do freelance writing for multiple local groups) and preparing for my last semester of college (and the inevitable employment struggle to follow), I really ought to set a more reasonable goal, like level 10 or so. We'll see what happens, I guess!

  2. My third year playing KI, but my first getting past level 1, lmfao. I'm a lot better at YYB than I used to be (I finally had my first 14 point game the other day, it was awesome) but it's still a slog to crank through. I've got a post-it above my desk that I use to track progress toward All-Star, which I totally doubt I'll get to, but I'm at least trying for it this time, haha.

I ended up joining KI after reading some fanfics people had written that featured Garven Hale and became kind of enamored with him as a character, and I ended up liking Dinksy and Coco a lot after playing a bit my first season, so it's just stuck for me, haha.

Anyways, good luck, everyone, may our Spotify playlists and Netflix queues and handy bottles of bourbon lead us to victory!

  3. I finally picked up both AC avvies this week -- I've meant to get to them for years, but June has never been a great month for me to take up Neo, and I inevitably forget.

But my past self managed to put reminders into my phone to pop up when the AC started up, and I logged in to knock the two out, and even went a bit beyond the required playing (I think I'm at level 4 now?) so who knows, if I keep playing, maybe I'll try for all-star this year? c:

  4. So, everyone knows Shockwave games are hit and miss and a pain to even load, but finally after a couple of months of fighting across an array of browsers, I managed to get Revenge of the Slorgs to load and get an avatar score.

Problem is, when I finally hit submit score, I wasn't taken to a score submission box thingie, I was taken to the "load soundtrack" page. Has anyone else ever had issues with this specific issue? Is there some weird trick to get it to trigger (like, opening other games or putting the game in a new tab instead of pop-up or whatever)? I'm just kind of bummed that I finally managed to pull it off (did a lot of frog shots, lmao) and didn't actually get my avvie or even a posted score at all.

  5. I'm entering for the week! My song choice is "Streetlights" by Ludo, which is a song that sounds like late spring/early summer and is all about starting a new relationship and opening up yourself to someone new -- it's a really pretty song, and a personal favorite of mine.

When the streetlights come on, the pooling night

Is leveed aside, and pressed in twilight

Against our two rooms -- I'll see you tonight

The pavement is aching; cicadas are crying

The wine-colored air's breathing thoughts through your hair

Breezing to me, taking me there

I come alive as the shadows parade

My hot summer blood comes in floods and in waves

Curbside confessions, no longer afraid of what you'll say

  6. I'm leaning Thieves, if only because I need the avvie and the boons are solid.

I also need Seekers, but the boons are "eh" so I'll skip for this round (unless there's a significant favoring toward them, I guess), but I got Order a couple skirmishes ago.

  7. If you're strapped for cash, I'd sell it and make a decent profit, especially if you regularly lurk the food shop.

Then, you could use the profit to buy another bag of peanuts at cost, get the avvie and have some spending np left over.

But if you've got money in the bank, I'd go ahead and knock out the avvie now!

  8. I've accidentally listened to the Hamilton soundtrack around 150 times in the last month, but I'm kind of okay with it lmao. I'd suggest it to anyone who likes strong songwriting, history, showtunes or hiphop. It's pretty frickin' great.

  9. - Be different, be bold: RSing at unpopular places may give you an advantage since there is less competition around, it is good to have a few unpopular shops in your regulars for that chance that you may see something valuable there.

This is super good advice if you're kind of trash at RSing, like I am. I've gotten a couple lucky grabs in toys and beauty, but i made a decent amount of money from like, buying cheap tropical fruit and selling it at market value, which seems to tend around 10-15x the in-store price, and stuff like that. People are gonna search shop wiz for any random item, so as long as it'll make some kind of profit, it's worth grabbing, imo, even if it's just a few hundred np.

Maybe in a distant future, I'll be able to sit in magic or stamps and actually grab something great, but in the meanwhile, I'm happy stumbling through the less popular stores occasionally lmao

  10. Oh, that sounds so cool! I used to love books that would have cool little fun fact stuff at the end -- I remember reading some picture book that had like, an appendix about all the animals portrayed in the story, it was really awesome. Plus, it came with the rad bonus of like, actually having educational value alongside the fun story.

There's a couple people in my capstone class who are focusing on children's and adolescent lit, and a couple of them are actually working on completing a book as their final project, which just seems like an insurmountable amount of work for one semester, lmao. Then again, I'm supposed to finish writing a book of poetry before the end of the semester -- we're halfway through and I've only written about a third so far, so I need to get myself going.

  11. Oh man, congrats on the FFQ, I've been praying for one for weeks (and have burned through a couple fortune cookies trying for one)! And welcome back to Neo! I remember when I was much younger, circa 2000 or so, my grandpa used to play Neo with me, and he taught me how to code HTML and figured out all the neat tips and tricks that I had no idea existed -- your kids are lucky to have a parent who's able to help them out!

  12. I graduated from KSU (I also live in Ohio!) with an AS in Integrated Language Arts, didn't care for the teaching part, so I have a BA in English with a Creative Writing concentration. I was the publicity manager for Canto, their Creative Arts magazine. Nice seein' ya' on Neopets! I don't feel so strange or alone in my addiction now lol!

Oh, cool! I applied to KSU back when I was still in high school, but the allure of Columbus overtook it in my personal rankings and I ended up at OSU for a few years instead, lol. What kind of stuff do you write? I tend toward poetry but I'm trying to learn how to do lyrical essay/creative nonfic stuff as well!

It's always nice to hear of other adult-y people playing Neo, though; it validates my random addiction periods and makes me feel less weird about spending hours taking care of my little pixel clusters, lmao.

  13. Welcome back! Nice to here you figure out the college life. I am terrified of declaring a major. I've been debating between Bio and Math. I normally do the same thing with neopet around the worst of times. I have exams I should be studying for lol.

Haha, my binges are usually coincide with midterms or finals as well (midterms at the moment, yikes).

Deciding a major is so difficult -- I, myself, went from Microbiology to Anthropology at one school, switched to a community college for some cheaper credits, and went from English with a Literature concentration to English with a Creative Writing concentration at my current school, so I can tell you firsthand of the horrors of figuring stuff out. I'm just glad to finally have managed to get into a program that I love and feel like it's going to go somewhere after school -- my science majors always felt more like walls I had to climb and conquer, my English majors have felt more like boosts to what I already was doing well in. I wish you all the luck in figuring it out!

  14. If I've used a fortune cookie, does that mean I can cash in two quests each day? I didn't realize this was coming up and I opened a cookie two days ago, haha.

EDIT: It appears that I can, plus, with the boon I got from last week, I can take on the bonus crafting faerie challenge and refresh it into something more useful -- I'll have 3 chances to get the FFQ I've been hoping for, at last for a couple of days, while the boon is still active.

  15. Hey! So I was around for a while a couple of years ago, and then I disappeared, and then I was around for a while again last spring, and then I disappeared again, and now I'm back once again! It seems like once a year I get a solid month or two run at Neo before Real Life™ gets in my way.

Introduction stuff: I'm a sixth-year undergrad senior at a university in Ohio, finishing up a degree in English after jumping majors thrice (it's been a long, winding road through hell, lmao). I write copy for a textile company in New York and help run the campaign of a local charity group, so between these three rings, my life seems to constantly be in a state of half-organized chaos.

I play the ukulele pretty well and the mandolin, banjo, and guitar not as well. I write poetry (and am actually working on my capstone project -- a full chapbook of work for potential publishing, yikes) and play a lot of video games, when I have time. I listen to the Hamilton OST at least thrice weekly.

And once a year, I binge hard on Neopets for like a month or two, and suddenly disappear for like ten months, and it just so happens I'm in a binge period, lmao. It's nice to be back at it.
