Today I read Grimoire of Prosperity to my pet. I got "richer," which was a goal for the year. Yay!
-
YES, siniri! I quit fishing because switching is a giant pain and the payout is typically junk. But I feel for everyone working on the avvie--this is one of the few I got randomly before I knew what avatars even were. So now I just waste my time at geraptiku, symole hole, tdmbgpop, wheel of knowledge.... y'all know the drill.
-
I am saving to make it to the highest interest level. After that I'll celebrate my self-control by buying Grimoire of Prosperity (1 mil) and reading it to my pet for the avvie.

Every few days I change the language before doing my dailies. I have this ludicrous theory that they're spreading the luck geographically: France, China, Brazil... everyone is winning depending on how many people play. What makes it extra crazy is that even if something that far-fetched were happening, it would depend on your IP address. But I can't stop, just in case, you know?
Wow. It sounds so much crazier when I type it out.

That awkward moment when you see your fave stock at 15, and buy without refreshing the page... only to realize the price was actually in the 20's. Or 30's. Ugh.
-
I didn't realize it ever hit 70--I guess that's pretty flaky. I still have 10k shares... I think I might sell some if it passes 60 again. Thanks for the advice.
-
What do people think of SMUG? I sold some shares @ 58 and now it's @ 62. What is everyone else doing?
-
I also want to test the theory that it may have to do with how many
months old your account is, and you have to discard the same item.
Interesting! I also saw a few people say they got it by discarding 70 Red Quiggle Plushies, which also is R101
Let's combine theories, yttrium and hrtbrk: hrtbrk, do you know how old the account of the person who discarded the 70 red quiggles was? That might give us a hint. I don't know if you can give a username, but if you could, we could look at their profile and investigate different stats, starting with yttrium's account age theory.
Of course, if it has to do with an overall # of discards, none of that will help us. But it's worth a try.

My goal is to make it to make 1.5 mil a month on stocks and reach the last level of interest (10 mil) before I start spending again this year. 1 down, 11 months to go.

What annoys me is using a different computer to log in. I don't know my password! That's what cookies are for.

Reading battledome guides confused me too so I worked from trial and error. I'm definitely not a pro (I've fought mostly for avatars) but I love my set and it's served me well:
Essence of esophagor
Scarab ring
Snowager sword
Obsidian dagger
Enchanted cobweb
Greater healing scroll
Downsize
Oversized Maractite Rune Sword
Hope maybe it gives you some good, affordable ideas. I think oversized maracite sword and snowager sword are a little redundant and at least one could be replaced, but the rest works for me.

And I got a Camo pb from Keyquest.
This is kind of my dream... and I don't even play Keyquest.
Edit: I won 10k off a scratch card RIGHT after posting here. Everyone should try.

What I don't understand is how they make enough profit to buy space on the ad board! They might make some profit off noobs, impulsives, and the lazy*, but how is it ever enough to afford that space and STILL make profit? I don't get it.
*No judgement passed on noobs, imulsives, and lazies. I've been all 3 at different moments.

1 Once I went fishing and got an Irritable Genie-in-a-bottle
2. I got some fancy omelette piece once
3. And I complain I haven't gotten geraptiku or dmbgpp yet, but I did get forgotten shore right away--so I should shut up :laughingsmiley:
Remembering all this good luck and reading about everyone else's has me in a good mood!

I don't remember it, although it kind of sounds like a Neopets urban legend. Do you think it really happened?
And I know we complain TNT can be senselessly strict, but I am glad I've never seen anything gross/frightening on Neopets profiles. Thanks, TNT!

Miemieh, I totally agree about getting more attention for looking rich. When I see flashy lookups that say "omg I am soooo tired of all these neomails and friend requests!" I do a little internal eyeroll. It's like a rapper telling everyone to stop talking about his cars and jewelery.* Whatever, bro, you know you love the attention.
Back to pets though, can UC pets be traded? I thought they couldn't be transferred without changing, so I'm surprised they're important to people who don't already own them.
*Okay. No more analogies for me today, I promise.
-
I'm with everyone who says to sell it unless you want the avatar. I used mine from the avatar and got gross food.
Someone about 2 weeks ago got a Water PB out of 3 nerksStill, Finn the Human points this out and I'd be tempted to try it for PB's even with bad odds. Let us know what you do!
-
Nope, Zanescene, the odds don't go up. You have to give 21 NP minimum per wish for it to count, and it only listens to the first 7 times you wish in each 12 hour period. Here's the TDN article with more info.

It sounds like you mostly regret trading the pet in the first place. If you didn't regret it, you wouldn't have looked up the pet to investigate and check on it. I'm sorry :sad01_anim: While I agree that a trade is a trade, as missjustina said, I think it would have been polite to neomail you first, at least if they knew you cared about the pet.
If you want some closure about it, the best thing to do would be to neomail who you originally traded to and see if you can get the story about what happened.I agree, Haliaetus. That's probably the only solution, along with working towards another dreamy pet. I wish you luck!

I heard that if you ask people to make a string of 20 or so random numbers, they are FAR less likely to include bits like 1234567 or 444444, for example, than a computer program asked to do the same. In the same way, I bet people are much less likely to pick one user 4 times than the computer is.
So this doesn't seem unfair to me. It's just a quirk we wouldn't predict because we're people and bad at imagining what truly "random" odds look like.

What is disappointing though is that it seems people ONLY play games or take their pets to kelp or spin the daily Wheels for the avatars and nothing else. I got the TDBMGPOP avatar before, and I still go back there to visit him, hoping he'll award NP or feed my active.
I'll be the first to admit the dailies can get very tedious. When I get that avie, I'll happily quit! But I'm not sure what's disappointing about that for anyone--if anything, it might give you a better chance of getting rare items if less people go. Some people really enjoy dailies (maybe they luck out routinely), but 999/1000 times I'm getting the same pull toy/scorched food/nominal NP prize.

Gnorbus are really unique! Did you know they're only the 43rd (out of 53) most popular pet? Here's a list.
Top 5 are probably not surprising: Shoyru, kacheek, kougra, lupe, xweetok (my personal fave, along with korbats).
PS I am definitely a korbat. I should have said who I am!

I'm sorry about that. It seems like a silly thing to warn you over, especially compared to what some people get away with.
Anit0523, advertising! lol totally ridiculous. The security guard must have been weirdly insecure or just trying to impress his boss/girlfriend.
