rinoa812 got a reaction from Excoecaria in Let's talk about GAY MARRIAGE!
I completely am for marriage to anyone who desires it. I grew up with two moms , and the love they showed each other and me (and continue to show 18 years later) should not be condemned by anyone. They always wanted to get married but even now , I live in a state where it is not legal. People should have the right to be with whoever they love regardless of gender. If you dont like the idea of gay marriage than dont get one. I dont understand why the opinion of some people based on faith ( not just christianity) determines what gets into the law, when there is supposed to be a separation of church and state.

rinoa812 got a reaction from Saxen in Your thoughts on legalizing marijuana?
I definately think marijuana should be legalized. It hasnt been brought up too much , which surprises me, but a lot of the over the counter meds that we take an a daily or weekly basis have more serious side effects than smoking a joint. Now i can see concern for the person who maybe smokes from morning to night but someone who uses it once a day even isnt going to have problems for the most part. Everyone does react differentely to things though. I was put on a very popular antidepressant when i was 18 and it caused me to hallucinate and have night sweats and terrors. My friend took the same kind of medicine and it worked fine. So i stopped taking it. I would assume that the person who reacts badly to marijuana would do the same thing. Financially speaking legalizing and taxing marijuana would do wonders for the economy . Not to mention opening room in the jails for people who actually do deserve to be there. And another reason is hemp. Hemp contains very little THC and it is impossible to get high off of it but it is mostly illegal because of the marijuana stigma. Hemp makes a fine paper, a wonderful rope, clothing, baskets, anything you can name and hemp can be used to make it. Seriously we kill so many trees to make all of the paper we use, what are we going to use when we run out of trees? Because it will happen eventually. The medicianal qualities of marijuana have been documented. No reason should it not be legalized. People bring up the slow and sluggishness. The inevitable accidents. Well I think most of the people that are going to drive high, do it now. And driving high is nowhere as common as driving drunk. Also in my personal experiance being high makes me just want to chill. Being drunk makes me reckless. Maybe that is different from other people though. So yes yes yes marijuana should be legalized.

Where can I watch True Blood? Is it on Netflix?

Also, I just recently finished 90210 and One Tree Hill on Netflix. I am watching Hart of Dixie, Reign, and Vampire Diaries through the CW app. And I am watching Baby Daddy from recording it. But I want to watch the last season of How I Met Your Mother still and I am currently watching Psych. I want to start watching Sons of Anarchy and Game of Thrones and Breaking Bad. Ugh... so many tv shows!

I am waiting for the last episodes of Breaking Bad to show up on Netflix, but I'm caught up except the last half season they did. I am watching AHS, Walking Dead, Revolution, The Following on regular TV. I loooove Game of Thrones and I'm a season behind on both that and True Blood. I just finished up all the episodes Netflix had on Sons of Anarchy, and apparently that's a season behind as well. I loved it. I just started watching a new series, Intelligence, with one of the people from Lost - LOVED Lost. It seems like it's gonna be pretty good. The Voice is coming back on soon so I'll keep up with that as well. I haven't watched this much tv in years, but I kinda got caught up in a bunch of good shows.

I am so bad at Catherine. I am a total Atlus completest, but I still haven't managed to 100% complete it. I played through it once on Easy, and it took me forever. Now, I am really slowly playing it to get gold on all the stages so I can skip them when trying to get all the endings. I am entirely reliant on videos. They are the same developers. Vincent made a small appearance in Persona 3.

The Megami Tensei franchise is my favorite. I have spent so much time fighting with emulators and keeping my PS2 working, but I don't think I will ever invest so much time in a video game series. If you like RPGs, I would definitely recommend checking out Persona 3 (it isn't as good as 4, but it is available for download in the US) or Persona 5 when it comes out.

I have never played the persona series which is weird because I generally prefer rpgs. They sound pretty good though =) I have been playing catherine recently and i guess they must have some of the same developers because some of the persona 4 music is featured in the game. Also annoying bosses....The bride is terrible in catherine >.<

Hmm I think mine would be a few of the Fallout 3 enemies; especially the Mirelurks - those things were a little creepy and rather annoying. Also not a huge fan of boss fights.
I can't dislike any of the Bioshock enemies as I love that game series too much! Though the splicers hiding as mannequins in the first game and the crow men in Bioshock Infinite really know how to make you jump!

I ended up abandoning my first character, because all the shopkeepers in Riften and Whiterun were dead, with the exception of Arcadia. I had to fast-travel all over the place to sell anything, which only killed off more people.

If bonus bosses count, Elizabeth from Persona 3 is definitely it. First, this is one of those games where 100% completion can take like 300 hours. Just getting ready to fight Elizabeth took me a month. Once you actually get to start the fight, there is a whole long list of things that you can do that result in her killing you instantly. If you want to win, you pretty much have to use a guide and a calculator.

I have a medical marijuana card. =) I guess that makes me biased, but I do use it for anxiety.

Legalizing it is the next step, in my opinion. There's a lot of reasons.

    1. Marijuana is one of the least dangerous drugs around. 0 recorded deaths from overdose. Ya know how many tylenol has had in the past year? More than I really care to think about. The amount of weed that would cause someone to overdose is several hundred times their body weight. So.

    2. Marijuana is a cash crop. Whether people like to admit it or not, our economy is struggling, and marijuana could change that. Not only could the government tax medical marijuana, but hemp could replace surplus of corn and wheat and make a ton of money for the world. Farmers especially would see the benefits of it.

    3. Stop filling our jails. Too many people are being imprisoned for the petty possession and paraphanelia charges. Saves money, and keeps people's lives in check.

    4. Weed is a fairly positive medication. I know I was taking a medication for anxiety, one for depression, one for appetite, one for insomnia, and one for nausea. Now I smoke pot and don't have to take any pills. Honestly, paranoia and all of the negative side effects happen your first few times smoking. I know I felt them, but pushed through and continued to use it medicinally. And it's really helped.

    5. Any one who lets marijuana demotivate them wasn't really all that motivated in the first place. I can't even function without weed, so when I smoke, it makes me a more productive person.

Uh, actually marijuana has been shown to help with mental illnesses, anxiety, depression etc. Oh, and what you're talking about at the beginning is what would happen if a developing CHILD smoked weed. If we're putting the age limit at 18 for medical use and 21 for recreational use, the chances of the brain's development being stunted disappear because, well, the brain is developed. That's the same reason we have a drinking age. So that the brain isn't harmed.

Anyway, everyone who's posted anything negative about weed is sadly misinformed. Marijuana is frequently cited as a treatment for asthma and other breathing disorders. Anything saying that marijuana is as bad as cigarettes, that's wrong. Cigarettes have a bunch of additives to help them cross the blood-brain barrier faster. Ever smoked out of a hookah? It's still tobacco, but without additives, so it doesn't give you a stimulant effect, and passes to your brain a lot slower. Marijuana is also free of these additives, a bunch of which are carcinogens.

To person saying she doesn't like full time stoners. HEY! I smoke weed all the time and I'm a pretty productive member of society. Actually, if I'm NOT stoned, I have severe anxiety that most of the time prevents me from even leaving the house. At least with weed I can do my own grocery shopping.

I guess I am just more open to this because I grew up in Colorado and then moved to California. I lived in Boulder, Co, which is probably the best place ever, and everyone there is so nice and carefree because they all smoke pot. The cops aren't worried about arresting you for smoking a bowl. Living in a hippy town, I think, would greatly change the opinions of everyone here.

    Okay rant over/

First off, Washington and Colorado state did not take a nosedive to crazy town for legalizing pot. If anything, there was an insane hype for the duration of November, and now everything is pretty much the same. The pot smokers still smoke, the non-pot smokers still think everything is insane. Life goes on. There has not been any corollary evidence that links crime rate or substance driving with the legalization of pot yet so you can't bring those states to example. Also, Washington and Colorado are not the only places to have cannabis legalized/decriminalized (link here!)

Secondly, in the US you have to be 21+ in order to partake in any alcohol or pot. And while I do understand that underage drinking/smoking is a big thing, that is mostly up to parenting. And as Americans, we have put a large part of that up to parents (video games, television content, etc). Parents are supposed to be the influence in children (yes teenagers are children) to control what they are influenced by. Children are not supposed to be drinking or smoking, that has always been there and will always be there. In no way is legalization encouraging children to start smoking. If anything, this will educate more people into the effects of marijuana and educate more children into what exactly they are putting in their bodies if they choose to or not to smoke rather than just having a blanket illegal stance on it.

Also, it leads a bad precedence legally. For a legal standpoint, to have alcohol and cigarettes legal and not pot seems contradictory. There are some undeniable parallels that can be pulled from this and prohibition.

You seem to be very misinformed about this. I definitley would ask if you would read evilminx's post if you haven't already. She is spot on and has done her research. Legalizing marijuana would not lead to some trickle down effect 'legalizing all drugs' as you seem to think. That just sounds silly. Crack, meth, speed, they are all harmful. Prescription pills are far more harmful, yet legal. Marijuana is beneficial and if someone wants to smoke it, the government doesn't need to stand in there way. It's not harming anyone. As someone previously mentioned, by legalizing it we are not encouraging everyone to smoke it. It just means those people do not face fines and penalties. Which is the way it should be. I feel terrible for anyone who has been judged from using or who has had to deal with being treated like a criminal.... over what? A beneficial plant. One that has so much crazy superstitiution attached to it that it has taken us this long to finally get somewhere. But we are getting somewhere, thankfully. I'm hoping in the next decade it will be legal everywhere.

Marijuana DOES NOT kill brain cells. That is untrue. Anyone who thinks it's true has been mislead.

PLEASE READ: As I am fairly well-educated on these subjects, I'd like to post what I think. (please don't kick me out D:) As AngelBones stated, I'm not going to be all "Yeah, YOLO, drugs are fun, lolz."
Between what others have said and my general knowledge of the plant, I think it'd be a smart idea to legalize CANNABIS in general. There's an amazing variety of benefits and items you can make out of cannabis. You can make clothes, rope, food (hemp hearts and other such things), paper, plastics; heck, I saw that these people had been making architechture from hemp:

And as other people stated, you can use medical marijuana to cure many diseases, like cancer and diabetes. Marijuana is beneficial to your health in many ways.
RANT AHEAD: I find it silly that people can get a flippin' criminal record for being caught smoking marijuana. It's fairly harmless to smoke it and for you to not be able to have an income because of an "offense" they commited over 5+ years ago. :sad01_anim:
    Here, let's take a look:

IF IT WAS LEGAL: Person smokes marijuana
It's legal, so they don't get in trouble
    THE END.

    RIGHT NOW: Person smokes marijuana
As it is not legal, they get a criminal record.
When they try to apply for a job, they are rejected because they have a criminal record. This happens multiple times.
They end up unemployed/they get a job with very very low income (not enough to keep them on their feet) and their life is much worse. All because of some plant they smoked ONCE.

I'm too lazy to post more, so here's my opinion. :D Once again, please don't ban me :)
