nicolelouise
Hi all, I changed the language on Neopets so that one of my pets would read a couple of books he thought were boring. With one of the books, this worked fine. For the other item (which is actually a scroll and not a book), the title of it remains in English, although the rest of the books are now in Italian. Obviously, if it remains in English, the number of letters in the title doesn't alter at all, so he's still not going to read it. And before you ask, I did try it. What I want to know is why this doesn't the title of this scroll translate into Italian? I'm about to go and try some other languages, but if anyone has any clues, I'm really curious to know. EDIT: Eventually one of the Asian languages worked for me.
Scoobert_Doo
I've seen that happen, too, with Italian, and, I believe "Deutsch". This is only a guess/opinion, on my part, but I believe that either 1) the item was never translated, so it is left in "English", or 2) the item does not translate correctly into another language, with whatever program they use for translation, so "English" is kept. Would be interesting to know. nicolelouise and rntracy1
HomuraAkemiTheHero
It's probably because they aren't translating item names at the time or they quit translating that language (I highly doubt Deutsch would be discontinued) . Here's an editorial from awhile back about why it may be happening http://home.neopets.com/ntimes/index.phtml?section=editorial&week=704. Also this was another not really recent thing but was the most relevant http://pinkpt.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=38030&p=828051. I guess they still haven't found translators for Italian from the looks of the forum post. Hope this helps you. TaffyTaffyYumYum
Ive seen it happen on Nederlands and Portugues. Both lost support, and I usually do it so my Vandagyre will drink healing potions. I got a fairly recent item (after the February 2015 non-support) and it remained in English. nicolelouise

It looks like it depends on the age of the item as to whether it will translate or not. I'll have to just play it by ear. I know I'll be able to work out what I'm doing in one of the other languages, but the fact that I know a little bit of Italian was helpful.
