why is dressing pets so fun??

Recommended Posts

So, I've been playing for a couple of years, and I played a few years before that some time ago on a different account.

Pretty much this whole time I have shunned the idea of NC... what? Spend real money on fake stuff?? Wth?? There's no way.

I have a baby pet. She's hard to dress. Anyway, last year I decided to buy a tiny bit of NC, plus I had some as neopets prizes here and there. I bought a few cute things, it was fun.

Now I have 3 pets and I am suddenly ALL ABOUT customizing them and dressing one in particular (dartessa the yellow aisha - hopefully soon to be transparent... it's either that or leave her as she is - always in her geraptiku mask.. haven't decided yet).

Yesterday I hit a low and bought NC to buy dartessa a new outfit. REALLY???!! I can't help but laugh at myself. Honestly lol. The people I work with think it's hilarious, though I have never admitted to spending $. That's too far, haha.

Anyway, I don't know how to put her picture in but here's a link to my dressy pets... I change them up here and there, though spteri the cybunny's always stealthily stoic ;)

I just thought I'd share... Neopets is too cute and I can't help but like it.

The same thing happened to me! I was so against customisation, because when it first came out it was almost entirely NC. But with the NP clothes, I've customised almost all of my pets.

I have a lot of pets, actually.

I used Dress To Impress obsessively before I decided to buy anything. Most of my clothes are NP, because I still refuse to spend money on items. :P I have premium, though, so I do get bonus monthly wearables (and that was real money spent, but I think it was spent well).

I love transparent Aishas. Hopefully you can change her into it! I think the mask would look lovely on her if she were transparent.

I've personally alays been against the idea of NC, kind of like you said " Spend real money on fake stuff?? Wth?? There's no way."

but customization I think is pretty nice. It adds some variety other than just the color to our neopets.

As far as NC goes, I admit have bought a bit, but only enough to make the free NC they've given us worthwhile enough to buy something from the store. I still think it's a bit of a scam though as they already make (I assume lots of) money from the ads they have around the site.

I can't explain it, but it is completely addicting. Both customizing in general, and NC.

I remember when customization first came out and I thought it was one of the dumbest things I'd heard of. Then I thought, "Oh, well, a background would look nice." It just went item by item until I was even sold on wigs, which I originally couldn't stand.

Same with NC. My husband got me my first NC card for my birthday and I had trouble figuring out what to spend it on. Now, I'm addicted to NC items and find myself buying cards whenever I can.

Premium also adds to that. With the recent company downsizing, though, I'm not sure of their profits and expenses. Servers and web hosting are pretty hefty!

I'm still not comfortable with the idea of paying cash for virtual goods, but there are loads of other sites/games that do it. My ex boyfriend made a bunch of IRL money by selling online items in League of Legends. It's insane. Of course, I don't look down on anyone who does participate in it! It's there money and if it makes them happy, then no griping from me about it. :)

Wow Coryl, you do have a lot of pets! And they all look great. I have never heard of Dress to Impress but it sounds like I need to - that was the one thing I preferred about the NC - the 'try on' feature. It sounds like maybe the same thing for np items?

And Spritzie that's is exactly how it went down for me: oh maybe a background, well ok maybe a foreground or garland.. a trinket maybe??... now it's wigs, eye makeup, you name it ;)

I've bought some NC too, I like to keep some of the Fortune Cookies for things like Faeries Quests, and Games. Though I only really use the game ones when there's a scores galore or something where I can get the best bang for the buck out of them. I also like the morphing items. Those are pretty fun, usually. ;) Oh yeah, Key Quest tokens too, but I'd LOVE to see them come out with a Peophin token, someday. ;)

Originally, I never thought I'd buy NC ever! Especially because, I think the original NC items were not permanent, so it'd have been more like RENTING the item(s). Either that or I severely misunderstood at that time. lol Anyway, after a long hiatus from Neopets, I came back, and there was a bit of Free NC for something, probably the Advent Calendar or something, and that kinda started the ball rolling, as they say.

Oh well. ;)

  • 2 weeks later...

I've never been interested in NC... Until I joined TDN's Puzzle Challenge in 2012. It was so much fun and the grand prize was a $10 NC Card. I'm happy to say that I was one of the winners of that game (thanks Izzy and TDN!) and it was the first time in my life I had anything to spend on NC. (NC Cards aren't sold in my country. NC have to be bought online through a credit card).

After that, I bought a few as time went by but I still try to control myself. One of my biggest low points was buying a 700-NC pack to trade for Jeran's Sword.
