Bodhi
What on Earth is this all about in shops? I often see things like 6 says '9' or 6 says '11' . Am I missing something here? Is this some sort of code or something? Have you come across this phenomenon?
carlyle
Yes. As a daily jobber, I have come across these stores before. It may be a viral trend as I assume players can just enter in numbers in their shop quotes to imitate that. On the other hand, I think it may also be a sign of Neopets changing offensive shop descriptions. The owners were not banned as otherwise you cannot enter their shops to begin with, just that the administration felt the need to change it to a default - the numbers, I presume. All baseless speculation, but I can't think of any other scenarios besides it being a player prank or administrative action.
Duskitty
I think it's a result of the owner of the shop's age being under 13 when the shop was opened, and then when the user turns 13, the default shop description and such is changed to random numbers. Not quite sure, either.
Scoobert_Doo
I've noticed it, too, but didn't think much of it. It would be interesting to know, though. I noticed (and it still is) that when I created my shop, the default shopkeeper name is "Sprite" and the default shopkeeper saying is "Welcome!" So, mine says, "Sprite says Welcome!". I noticed many other shops with the same thing - "Sprite says Welcome!" Although speculation, I believe others, as well as me, just kept the default "settings" because we did not know how to change them at that time. Now that I do know, maybe it is time for a change. I speculate that the numbers may be the defaults for languages other then english - that they do not translate well or they translate to numbers. I've noticed the numbers with shops that seem to also have a diffent language displayed with another message in their shop, if that makes sense, and why I think the numbers are displayed. Brit
Duski is right. You'll usually see that in shops or even galleries where the user who owns them are under the age of 13. Meaning they can't type out a shop name, shop keeper name, and as such they are able to use numbers. I'm not sure if it's defaulted that way, or if that's just what they choose to do, but you'll see this 99% of the time in a user's shop or gallery who are under the age of 13.
