Advice on 1-player equipment

Recommended Posts

Hi! I was hoping you guys would advice me on buying equipment for my neopets. I only do 1-player and probably not thinking about 2 player for the mean time. Any advice on what equipments should i buy? Most probably 1m budget.

Well, depending on your pet's statistics, I am going to take a shot in the dark and assume your level is somewhere between 1-100, lol. My go to weapon, which a lot of people here know I love, is the scroll of ultranova. It is cheap, (keep refreshing the SW and you will find it for 1 NP) and doles out 11 damage icons. The ridiculously heavy battle hammer is also approx 1-5 nps and does 9 damage icons. Sun and moon chakram is available for under 5k and does 5 light and 5 dark damage icons (same as ramtor's spellbook for a fraction of the cost). Those should be your 3 damage weapons. Then I would keep a battle muffin on hand for 15 damage icons, an ultranova (which does damage and heals you, but doesn't count as a healer), and depending on your HPs, either a healing scroll or scorchstone for your main healer. That should be a fairly cheap, yet effective battleset.

I see. i have 81hp 20+ each stats and im level 30, i was thinking of going raw damage items, is it advisable? i could go for the cheap ones, what about the pricy ones? not more than 1m np. :D i've been looking through this guide http://battlepedia.thedailyneopets.com/index.php/articles/viewarticle/basic-weapon-sets/

But im not sure which weapon should i buy coz the ratings of the swords seem like a tie. It doesn't show if its for 1-player battle only. Which i think most of the items there are for 2-player battle.

I just became serious now with battledome so i don't know much =(

I have however set my eyes on the following:

>Golden Compass

>Hanso Charisma Charm

>Rusty Pitchfork

>Brynns legendary sword of wraith smiting

>Ylanas Blaster

That's a nice list of attacking equipment. Though instead of buying the higher-icon weapons now,, maybe you should focus more on training and get some of the intermediate weapons instead. The basic formula for the BD when deciding damage when you attack is Strength Boost x icons = damage. So, say your pet has it's strength at 20, which would mean the boost (multiplier) is 1.25.

So for say, the Hanso Charisma Charm, which has 10 icons. 10 x 1.25 = 13 damage. Now if you train your pet's strength up to say, 55, well then the boost multiplier is 2. 10 x 2 = 20. For my pet, the 750 strength the multiplier boost is 16, so 10 x 16 = 160 damage.

Battling, in my opinion, should be a balance between training and equipment. If you know your opponent, say from looking at TDN's 1-player profiles, you can shape your arsenal around the opponent(s) you plan on fighting. I would select a couple reasonably priced weapons from the list you posted. And work on some training as well.

I'm a budget battler too. i only have 1 Hidden Tower weapon in my arsenal, the Ghostkerbomb. Everything else is lower in np-value and standing than the g-bomb. lol I used a honey potion as my bomb for years, And I've got the breakable 50% reflectors memorized. lol it's always nice to meet another "frugal" combatant. ;)

One thing about your list, When you are deciding, and if you like BOTH the Golden Compass and Hanso Charisma Charm, Pick ONE. tThe charm is about 1 icon stronger, and blocks ALL darkness. While I believe the Golden Compass is 9 icons and blocks about 3 icons of darkness. Since they both basically do the same thing, it'd be pointless to have both. ;)

It's nice seeing someone use/link to TDN's articles other than staff. lol ;) Here are some other links on the battlepedia you might find useful.

A list of boosts and the stat-numbers you need to attain them.

TDN's own damage calculator.

http://battlepedia.thedailyneopets.com/index.php/site/damagecalculator/

Also, you might want to look into healing and defensive items. Downsize! blocks 50% of all damage once per battle. And it's usually pretty affordable. (AVOID Downsize Power plus, it blocks all damage, but is only 1-use and then it's permanently gone)

I hope this helps! :)

I see thanks for the insight Aquamentis12! ^_^ but if lets say i already have leveled, which of those is a good equipment for me to keep so that i won't waste my money on something else whenever i trained already? :D

Edit: oops. i didn't read your suggestion about the list.xD Thank you again very much! So among all the items in the list Golden Compass and Hanso Charisma Charm is the best?

I'm glad you found that info useful.

Regarding the weapons you listed, no, Golden Compass and Hanso Charisma Charm do basically the same things, just to different levels. So I meant don't buy both. ;) Hanso Charisma charm is a bit more powerful, 1 more icon attack than the compass, and blocks ALL dark icons. Golden Compass only has 9 icons attack and roughly 3 icons dark defense.

As for the other items you listed....

Rusty Pitchfork appears to have 11 icons attack and blocks 5 Physical icons damage. The defense might be useful, depending on your defensive boost.

Brynns Legendary Sword of Wraith Smiting has 13 icons of just attack, no defense

Ylanas Blaster, a decent but slightly weaker weapon. As it does just under 13 icons, 12.6 according to it's profile. Again, attack only, no defense.

Are you looking at any shields/defensive equipment? Or healing or freezing items?

I'm personally not a big fan of Golden Compass. It used to be a great weapon, but with new weapons released you can do better. It gives only 9 attack icons, which is the same as a Ridiculously Heavy Battle Hammer, and the dark defense is only useful if you are battling an opponent who deals a lot of dark damage.

The weapons on the Basic Weapon Sets guide are recommended for both 1- and 2-Player. There are some weapons on that page that are useless for 1-Player, usually because of an intelligence requirement for your opponent (all 1-P opponents have 0 intelligence) but they are clearly marked as 2-P weapons.

The other weapons are all good options!

If you are looking to battle a specific 1-P opponent, I recommend you look at our Challengers Guide on the Battlepedia and find out what weapons that challenger has. That way you can use attack weapons with icon types that they don't have protection against and you can use shields that block the icon types that challenger favors. If you want recommendations, just let us know which challenger(s) you're looking at and I'd be happy to offer some!
