General Technology
Hey guys :) I have a target set to go for right now but I'm unsure of what to get. First, here's my supposed ideal battle set: Crisp Blue Tunic (Healer) Heavy Blue Tunic (100% Freezer) Ghostkerbomb (Bomb) Downsize! (50% Blocker) Hubrid Nox Memorial Shield (Blocks 100% Light + 20 defensive icons) Faerie Tabard (100% Water + 11 defensive icons) Now, I'm mainly doing 1p. My dilemma is for constants. I know that the currently harder to block icons right now would be Fire, Air and Earth. I was planning to have a combo of Skarls Hasty Mace (13-29 icons, combo of air and earth) and Sword of Reif (18.25-24 icons, fire and physical). Would that be better than a Kelpbeards Trident + Sword of Skardsen combination? I know that Skarls Hasty Mace is less consistent, but I like the icons and the possible payoff. Any suggestions? I'm currently trying to level up my Habi to level 50 so making nps would be easier :) I'm training at Swashbuckling Academy, and my pets stats are pretty low. But I'm planning get to this eventually XD
Aquamentis12
Which of your pets is going to be your battle pet? Imho, you've got a really nice (yet expensive) ideal set. Though eventually you'll probably want to change Crisp Blue Tunic to Bag of Healing Dust. In the meantime, make sure you read lots of books, play the Wheel of Knowledge and visit Coltzan's Shrine for chances to increase your pet's intelligence. It'll need it for the tunics. But I'm sure you already know that. ;) With your shields, it seems like the only icon you wouldn't defended against would be Darkness. So I'm gonna recommend you consider a Hanso's Charisma Charm. 10 icons, 5 earth and 5 light. And it blocks all dark. You could switch it in/out with either of the weapon combos you are aiming for. Unfortunately, I do not have battle experience with the HT weapons. Though I am considering the Sword of Reif for someday, probably sooner than later. ;) The mace is up to you, It does have some interesting stats/icons. Though Leaf Shield would take out a LOT of it's Earth icons. I guess it depends on which opponent you're planning on fighting. Since you're planning on mostly 1p battling. Skarls Hasty Mace might work well for you. When I battle, I keep a few things in, (healer, freezer, Downsize!), but have a few weapons/shields that I can switch out depending on which opponent I'm facing in 1p battling. Including reflectors. It's something that I recommend to anyone who battles. Keep your set a bit fluid so you can change things around if you go against an opponent that could otherwise kick your pet's rear. ;) I hope this helps you with deciding. Good luck and happy battling! :D General Technology
General Technology
My BD pet's gonna be Ygrygor. Gonna be a LOOONNNGGG way til he's ready :/ I already have a BD Set right now. I know its super expensive but it's a target right? XDD There are lots of books that are for less than 5k, so I think that I'll be able to increase his intel relatively alright :)))) And yeah I do XD I kind of want to directly upgrade from CBT to JSS when I get to that high (or maybe I'll just morph him into a different species with a nice species healer) I noticed that :D I think that the only multi-use combo that can block all icons would be Rod of Dark Nova + Hubrid Nox Memorial Shield right? Comes with an attack + heal too XD But can't afford that much :D Thanks for reminding me. I've used SHM before and it served me well but I was just wondering if there were possible better combinations, like Kelpbeards Trident + Sword of Skardsen, or Sword of Reif + Sword of Thare :/ True though. I might shift over to 2P but that'll be til I get around +L7 :/ I'm not particularly fond of reflectors (apart from Kings Lens or Craftsmans Lens which seems pretty cool) because they're kinda situational. But since I battle mainly on 1p, they'd be nice XD I'll be buying a couple of the 50% reflectors to keep :D Thank you very much :D I'm currently getting a bit impatient with the training :/ I don't like being "poor" on neo :/ Edit: Are there any other weapon suggestions or weapon/set combos that work nicely? :D
Aquamentis12
lol Right, He might take awhile, but you'll get there. It does stink, putting so much NP into training. At least you can get SOME codestones saved up from battling for right now, then when you can't use the academy anymore, you'll have a nice little stockpile of them for a good portion of your training. LOL Yes! Target sets are good. Means you've got an idea/dream/ambition. I would love a JSS when i get higher too. Just because I'd be afraid of a LEV vanishing on me. ;) I'm not sure if that is the ONLY combo to block some of everything. Getting hold of a T.Tear, or a Castle Defenders Shield would really be an awesome way to block all damage, times 2! :D Like I said, the different weapon combos really depend on who you battle the most among the 1player opponents, or IF you do go to 2player battling, you might want a weapon based on your opponents species. Like Sword of Reif would do extra damage to a Peophin, due to the species weakness. If it weren't a bit pricey, I'd consider the Sword of Lameness. Might be a good novelty weapon if it weren't so expensive, because it can do nothing, or it has 2 levels of attack, can heal or freeze and is multiple use. Oh yes, the 50% reflectors are GREAT imho, especially if you're like me and like to battle DoN opponents much stronger than your pet. (i was impatient with training too.) ;) The two that come to mind at first that reflectors helped me win would be Tekkitu the Witch Doctor, and Commander Garoo. I keep a small stock of 50% reflectors in my SDB just in case I need them. ;) Reflectors are also a good way to budget battle, if the goal is to beat an opponent for an avatar or to progress in DoN. ;) If you battle Jelly Chia, Use a Leaf Shield and you should take little to no damage. ;) Here's a tip for np if you like to take chances. Play BIlge Dice. You can get 5k a day from it, and if you go a little over 5k, you get to keep the overage. Basically, get your winnings to 4990np, and then bet and win a 1000np bet, and you CAN get 7990np a day. HOWEVER, it's also possible to LOSE BIG. I've had a couple bad days with that game. Lost over 30k in a day. But, if you're skilled and lucky, you can make quite a bit of NP over a month. And there are 2 trophies for that game, as well as a lucky streak avatar if you can get 10 wins in a row. Best I've been able to do was 8. (It's been a long time, but if you haven't played before, you might have to unlock the higher wagers. You do this by winning the highest wagers a number of times. I do not know how many times you need to win though) Once all wagers are unlocked they should be... 10, 50, 100, 200, 500, 1000 It's not a flash game, so you can also get random events while you play. Hope this helps! :)
General Technology
True true. I'm itching to train at the Mystery Island Training School because its faster :/ Thanks! If only someone on neo would be like "Here, have my Moehog Skull/Ghostkerbomb" XDDD But since that's unlikely, I have to save up for a nice set myself :/ I know about Thyoras Tear and Castle Defenders Shield. But they're once per battle :) But RoDN + HNMS is a multi-use combo :D Sword of Lameness is pretty awesome. If only it didn't do "nothing" :/ I think it's better for higher HP pets though. One day... one day. I haven't bought any yet, but I'm looking to buy like 10 of each XDDD I didn't know that before! Thanks!!!! :))) I'd rather not risk my neopoints that way :/ "I have a serious gambling problem" - Cynthia Rose, Pitch Perfect XDDDD But thanks a lot dude! :D
Lamppost
With your pet's low stats, you definitely should be focusing on your training. If you're really impatient, you can always do item training like Neggs and Shrooms. It's expensive, but it's much faster.
Aquamentis12
*nods* It's too bad training school usually runs more, at least with the BD giving out codestones, the prices came down a bit. :D LOL I wish I had been around when some of my friends retired, I don't know what happened to their battle gear, but would've LOVED to see what price they'd have quoted me if I hadn't been taking my own break from the game. ;) Ah, just about everyone knows about the T.Tear, but Castle Defenders Shield, I'm a little surprised to know someone else who's also checked that little gem out. Having both, even at once per battle, would be Incredible! But you're right, RoDN + HNMS is a pretty epic multi-use combo. ;D Yeah, it may indeed be better for higher HP pets. LOL One day? I'm thinking the same thing, someday, if I had the np to blow on a simply novelty weapon that could kick rear, I'd definitely consider the Sword of Lameness. XD Depending on what you get that blocks a certain icon type, you might just forgo the reflectors. OR, you could double-team with the blocker or two different kinds of reflectors! I remember using a Double Dryer and a Bubble Blaster. I can't remember against whom though, I think it was in the Curse of Maraqua plot.... I don't know the exact percentage that using both reflected, but it was greater than 50% of using just the double dryer, or the 25% of the Bubble Blaster! LOL I'm not certain if that can be done in the new BD. But it was something fun I came up with way back then. lol Sure! I usually battle the Jelly Chia so I don't have to heal much, and you can get some decent prizes aside from the spooky foods. The only time he gets anything through when I battle him, is when he uses an evil snowball. And unless the battle drags out beyond 2 turns. He almost never gets the chance to. If he uses it in turn 1, My Golden Peophin Harp blocks the darkness of the Evil Snowball. While my leaf shield defends the rest. Once he's frozen, I blast him hard in round 2. Defeating him with relative ease. :) LOL I learned my lesson with Black Pawkeet Slots! Cut yer losses and RUN. lol Though Bilge Dice isn't THAT evil, usually. And once you get a win accumulation over 5k, you can't win anymore until midnight NST. But you can practice all you want for free after you win over 5k. Good way to try to get the lucky streak avatar without it costing a ton. It seems like some days the luck is just BAD. lol But usually I can guess what die will come up or won't come up, as I play. I'm thinking it's some pattern that my subconcious picks up on, but won't tell the rest of my brain what it is. LOL But hey, if you want to avoid games of chance, that's cool. I haven't played it in some time, actually. lol :D You're welcome. :) You sound very knowledgable with the battledome and with weapon stats. :D Budget battling is how I played when I was starting out, and I try to stay thrifty when looking for new ways to win in the battledome. Helps to save some np for better weapons later on. ;) If you need anymore help, well you know this, but feel free to post and ask! LOL Happy battling! If you're really impatient, you can always do item training like Neggs and Shrooms. It's expensive, but it's much faster. Indeed That's what I'm focusing on now. I'm levelling up my habi so I could easily gain neopoints for training items (Bubbling Fungus + Armoured Negg + Snegggs and the like) Currently, I'm currently trying to do Kitchen Quests as well. But so far, not much luck :D Hopefully my Habi levels up fast so I'll get to saving up for weapons and training! *nods* It's too bad training school usually runs more, at least with the BD giving out codestones, the prices came down a bit. Now they're around what? 3-8k max depending on the codestone :) Training just got easier XD I had a couple of friends back in my previous account who weren't battlers and some of them usually quit at a time when I was on hiatus :/ I miss them. That must've been hard for you XDDD Nice!!!! :D I haven't checked up lately if you can equip more than one reflector in the new BD. But I assume that people still could. I have to check on that XDDD And I'd definitely buy Sword of Lameness too if I had a lot of money XDDD But I don't. So Scroll of Knowledge it is for now XD Thanks! Nice strategy, I might add. Golden Peophin Harp? Those are really rare aren't they? Wanted to buy one for my Peo on a previous account but couldn't find one with a price tag. XD When I rebuild a bit, I'll try doing the whole Bilge Dice thing XD LOOOLLL XDDD Thanks! I really kind of "study" the BD at times, I just have trouble with the other aspects of it (like application XD). I'm rather forgetful, but I mainly stay on Neo for the BD part Oh yeah, question: For a pet with 340 HP, what would work better - Short Sleeved Yellow Tunic, Crisp Blue Tunic or Everlasting Crystal Apple? I recommended ECA because its a bit more apt for my friend because of multi-heal capability, but the drain on CBT is also kinda tempting but requires a bit of strategy. Which one would be better? Aquamentis12
lol Oh so much easier, but still a little higher priced than my liking, even if it IS closer to what codestones were going for some years back. :D Yeah, it sucks when people quit or you lose touch with them. :-\ At least I'm in a somewhat active guild with a bunch of Older People on Neopets ;) Old friends and a good group of people. Drama is not allowed! :D I haven't checked the new BD, but in the old BD you could equip 2 reflectors that reflected the same type of icon, but not 2 of the same reflector. So 1 double dryer and 1 a bubble blaster would be ok, but not 2 double dryers. Thanks! Glad you like my strategy. *nods* They are r99, but yes, pretty hard to find. If I remember my screenshots correctly, I got mine in 2007. Boy has Neopets changed a LOT since then. I got the harp for a Pirate Paint Brush and 800k np. I think back then that was around 4mil in total value. It really ticks me off when people don't have any message in their trades except "offer or you will be ignored". How are people supposed to offer if they don't have an idea what the seller is looking for. You know? EVENTUALLY you will find someone who will reply to a query on what they were thinking about for such an item. And those people are the kind you want to deal with anyway. NICE people. ;) LOL good luck with Bilge Dice after you rebuild then! :D Same here, I like to check out weapons and armor that I'm not familiar with and see if I can use it. It helps cut down cost too, if you can figure out budget-friendly ways to battle. ;) Some people look at set-costs, I take a one weapon at a time approach to cost. lol Well, I had a SSYT for awhile, then made a bid for a Bag of Healing Dust. 75hp was good for a good while, but I would say it's between the Crisp Blue Tunic and the ECA.... MAYBE ECA for the lower listed cost and multi-use function. Then your friend could heal and defend multiple turns if need be. As well as see their opponent's equipment. that's 3 points for the ECA. The Crisp Blue Tunic, the 100hp heal could be a lifesaver and total gamechanger in a close battle. Especially if used at the last moment. ;) Could turn a probable TIE into a VICTORY! :D The higher cost is not so good, and the intelligence may or may not be a problem. Also, since the opponent must have 101+ hp left. You're right, it would take a bit of strategizing and careful tactics to use it to where it'd be most effective. So yeah, I think I'd agree with you on the ECA. I've never used either the CBT or the ECA, but I've always found them to be two very interesting items. ;)

I'm in a Habbytarium guild for now. They seem nice but I wanna partake in a BD guild one day :/ Yeah. Like dual PPots =)))) No problems. It's a really nice weapon :D Nice icons + 100% freeze is a keeper. It's probably super rare now, if I'm not mistaken XD Thanks again XD I look at weapons if they have a nice power-to-price ratio. That's why I'm such an advocate of Skarls Hasty Mace XDDDDD Nice! Thanks a lot dude! I know. I'm just suggesting ECA to my friend because that's the most reliable healer at the price range she's looking at XD Her pet has around 350 HP, 250 strength and 250 defense XDDDD
