Anxious Zombie
I'm tired of seeing the argument that weed (yes, I do mean cannabis) only makes you mellow and never kills (not talking only here, I mean 'everywhere'). Like any other substance, it actually varies from person to person. 'Mellow' is only what is reported on average. But here are some facts for you: -Some people are actually allergic to it and have no idea until they try it -There are reports on people getting high on weed then going out and shooting others -Weed 'is' ranked one of the least harmful drugs, but that doesn't mean it 'isn't' harmful Thank you for suffering through my rant. I would love to see your thoughts. This topic has been edited by a member of staff (Spritzie). The topic was posted in the wrong area. Welcome Back Apathy
-Some people are actually allergic to it and have no idea until they try it People are also allergic to nuts and have no idea until they try it. I am allergic to coconut, and I had no idea until Girl Scout Cookies. That doesn't mean we ban nuts, peanuts...anything that people are allergic to. The difference is that marijuana is in the air, so you can have a reaction if someone ELSE is doing it. But that's why I think that marijuana should be legal, but only in certain places--like, you would have to go to a marijuana room to smoke, for example. Or in your private residence that does not share walls with other people's private residences. Smoking on the streets should not be legal. -Weed 'is' ranked one of the least harmful drugs, but that doesn't mean it 'isn't' harmful To the majority of people, weed is one of the least harmful drugs. That includes medication, remember. Yes, it can be harmful...in the same way that any medicine can be harmful. My doctors put me in a coma after my first surgery because they gave me anxiety medicine that I didn't need. Plus, any recreational activity can be dangerous. Skiing accidents send people to the hospital or kill them. Baseball causes a lot of injuries. Cooking leads to cuts, burns, slips, falls...it can injure you in so many ways. Watching TV and using your computer are mostly pretty safe, although not really healthy to do all the time. Pretty much anything can cause some harm. Marijuana, surprisingly, tends to cause less harm than many completely legal things. -There are reports on people getting high on weed then going out and shooting others I often hear that there are reports of people getting high on weed and then going out and shooting people. I've just never seen one of these reports. Can you give us a link? And some kind of evidence that says the weed caused the shooting? ~Xandria, Duskitty, Emily and 1 other
Anxious Zombie
I may be able to, as soon as I find it again. I only actually found the information through a report of gun deaths happening nearly every day around the world. Just so you know I am actually pro weed. I just wish people would do their research first is all I'm saying. 'It just mellows you out' makes me loose a little more faith in my own generation. Edit: a small part of me has to be pro weed, otherwise I am a walking contradiction for being alright with my cousin doing weed. Double edit: I'm looking over the report now and there is no evidence that the weed actually 'caused' the person to do it. It just happened that they did weed then went and shot someone. So I retract that fact. But it does stand that the weed either did not mellow them out or perhaps mellow them out 'enough' to stop them from being violent. Yeah that. And as for the rest of your argument. I think Karina did a pretty good job of saying everything I was going to. =)
Emily
People get drunk and shoot people, yet alcohol is legal. Just sayin'.
anorexorcist
Incidentally, it's also possible to overdose accidentally on pretty much EVERY over the counter or prescription medication existing. Yet marijuana is practically impossible to over dose on. Emily and Duskitty
