Tyler. Posted February 24, 2011 Posted February 24, 2011 Maybe you should take classes that could get you towards becoming a squirrel trainer :P JK see what you like the most Quote
Spritzie Posted February 24, 2011 Posted February 24, 2011 I took 2 years worth of Algebra in HS, because it was fun. (So Algebra 1, 2, 3, and 4.) Most people skip 3 and 4. Quote
DeAndra Posted February 24, 2011 Posted February 24, 2011 We dont have Algebra 3 & 4 ; after 2 its Trig or Pre-Calc, Then Calc And lol Ryan why a squirrel trainer ? That would be too funny; Im actually a bit afraid of squirrels :/ LOL Quote
Wembly Posted February 24, 2011 Posted February 24, 2011 Its useless HS math I hate; Like I am in Calculus now, and to be honest, when will I ever have to know how to graph a tangent, sine, cosine graph or whichever ones. Like seriously ? Yea, I'm totally gonna be walking down the street one day like hey a parabola, Let us use the quadratic formula to figure out the equation for it. Come on ! LOL :laughingsmiley: You'd be surprised how applicable those equations really are but sadly when you tell people such, like when you spout off the equations of motion for say a projectile in a parabola, people usually just tell you to shut up. -_- or they throw things at you :rolleyes_anim: Quote
-Ryan Posted February 24, 2011 Posted February 24, 2011 OMG TYLER I'M GONNA DO THAT! Oh btw, we're doing stuff about checks and that sort of thing in my intro to buisness class lately and our teacher lets us choose what each check is for. One of mine says buying squirrel food. :D Aw, you're scared of me and my family? -goes off to sulk with other squirrels- Lol, I have nightmares about calculus. :P Quote
Spritzie Posted February 24, 2011 Posted February 24, 2011 At my HS, it was generally Algebra 1,2, then Geometry 1,2, then you could chose from there. I went to Algebra 3,4 after Geometry. Quote

But I think it all depends on your level of interest and what career you go into. In truth my mom is a doctor and my father a psychologist and neither of them use more than basic math lol. And neither do I outside of school. *throws book at you* lol could resist ;) J/K LOL aww not too scared Ryan , promise :) And lol nice, squirrel food, squirrels are so erratic and unpredictable lol But yea a little part of me dies when I walk into my Calculus class lol This post has been edited by a member of staff (Spritzie) because of a violation of the forum rules. Spritzie Posted February 24, 2011 Posted February 24, 2011 My husband is a super math brain. One day, he was trying to tell me how he has this idea for an possible equation that could prove.... something. He looked at me and saw me looking at him like o_O. He replied with: "I'll call my dad. Then my old math teacher." :laughingsmiley: I'm not a math person. I'm an English/language/writing person. Quote
Wembly Posted February 24, 2011 Posted February 24, 2011 *ducks* See I knew where that was going because of equations :) But equations will help you get the Lenny Conundrum right 1/2 the time too :king: Quote
-Ryan Posted February 24, 2011 Posted February 24, 2011 Yay! 8D Yes, yes we are. And we are proud of that. Calculus is one class I shall NEVER take. Quote
Wembly Posted February 24, 2011 Posted February 24, 2011 If you are going into buisness/marketing more than likely you will be at some point :laughingsmiley: Quote
-Ryan Posted February 24, 2011 Posted February 24, 2011 Nevuuurrrrr! I will be taking squirrel training 101 instead. -nodnod- Quote
Tyler. Posted February 24, 2011 Posted February 24, 2011 my sister took calculus I took one look at her homework never wanted to use my brain again Quote
-Ryan Posted February 24, 2011 Posted February 24, 2011 Yeah, in Avid class a highschool senior also in Avid showed us some honors calculus work. I almost had a breakdown. CURSE YOU ISAAC NEWTON! Quote
DeAndra Posted February 24, 2011 Posted February 24, 2011 True and the Lenny Conuncrum can be hard lol haha nice duck ;) And lol im not a math brain at all I would have the same look, im an english type also :) Quote
DeAndra Posted February 24, 2011 Posted February 24, 2011 My school has AVID classes too lol ; But yea they only offer AP Calc at my school, that is one AP exam i will NOT be taking :) Quote
-Ryan Posted February 25, 2011 Posted February 25, 2011 Really? Are you at a Junior High, Middle School, or High school? Quote
Masaryk Posted February 25, 2011 Posted February 25, 2011 Calculus = :sick01: I did not enjoy it one bit. I needed to finish a full-year Calculus for my science degree, and I barely scraped through it, in spite of attending every class and trying really hard. Of course, I kind of neglected to take it in high school, because I didn't like the teacher, and I wasn't even supposed to be allowed to take it in university without either a high school credit or pre-Calc course, but they let me take it anyway. EDIT: What is AVID? Quote
DeAndra Posted February 25, 2011 Posted February 25, 2011 Im in High School, Im a senior. Im not in AVID but I know people who are And AVID stands for Achievement Via Individual Determination. Its like a college readiness class sort of. Quote
-Ryan Posted February 25, 2011 Posted February 25, 2011 How do you know what it stands for but I can't remember for anything? xD And that's cool. ^^ Quote
Masaryk Posted February 25, 2011 Posted February 25, 2011 Thanks! I'm very lost on a number of American things sometimes. Quote
DeAndra Posted February 25, 2011 Posted February 25, 2011 LOL Is it very different in Canada ? I have been a good few times but never for an extended period of time :) And lol because I am a student aide for my old psychology teacher and she is also the AVID teacher so I see it all the time haha Your about to be a HS freshman right ? Quote
-Ryan Posted February 25, 2011 Posted February 25, 2011 Hey Masaryk, whats the funniest prank a student has ever pulled on you? I'm asking because today in class someone brought up the thing about how in the first week of school a kid named Justin in my Avid class took a picture of himself on our teacher's phone and saved it as her background. xD Cool. ^^ And yep. Quote
DeAndra Posted February 25, 2011 Posted February 25, 2011 Freshman year was the best year ever, dont mess up :) Your grades for that year set your whole GPA for the next 4 years. And HAHA omg that is soooo hilarious, I wouldnt be brave enough to do that. I love pranks :) Quote
-Ryan Posted February 25, 2011 Posted February 25, 2011 I'll try not to. xD No pressure though, right? :P Yup. He also taped her stamp thing to the ceiling after accusing him of taking it earlier that day when it went missing and he found it. xD Quote
