Masaryk Posted January 10, 2011 Posted January 10, 2011 She'll get over it. You'll just have to play no/less games for a few days, and she'll forget about it. :rolleyes_anim: Did she give you a reason why you shouldn't play games? Quote
CAV of Gang Green Posted January 10, 2011 Posted January 10, 2011 Tbh I don't think Smosh is that funny. -shrug- *twitch* I'm gonna kill you.... my mom doesn't want me playing video games anymore, which is quite idiotic if you ask me Same here. My father and grandmother think I'm overdoing it with the games and internet, even though they are the only things stopping me from going insane from depression. Quote
Spritzie Posted January 10, 2011 Posted January 10, 2011 My mom was the same, when I was on the computer a lot. I had trouble sleeping, so I was up on the computer a lot. But we just talked about what was going on and worked around it. Quote
CAV of Gang Green Posted January 10, 2011 Posted January 10, 2011 I tried explaining it to my family. I had an entire therapy session based on it. But it seems to not have gone through their thick skulls. Quote
Tyler. Posted January 10, 2011 Posted January 10, 2011 Same here. My father and grandmother think I'm overdoing it with the games and internet, even though they are the only things stopping me from going insane from depression. Same thing happening to me, except my dad's cool with it Quote
Spritzie Posted January 10, 2011 Posted January 10, 2011 It takes time, and more than one talk. At least it did with my parents. It took awhile for them to understand. Quote
CAV of Gang Green Posted January 10, 2011 Posted January 10, 2011 I've talked to them several times. It just goes through their heads. Quote
Spritzie Posted January 10, 2011 Posted January 10, 2011 Keep trying. Reasonably. I found that if emotions are high, it's harder. For everyone. Quote
CAV of Gang Green Posted January 10, 2011 Posted January 10, 2011 Oy. No matter how hard I try it won't work. Quote
Spritzie Posted January 10, 2011 Posted January 10, 2011 Family can just be really difficult. My mom and I went round and round for a year or two. Quote
CAV of Gang Green Posted January 10, 2011 Posted January 10, 2011 Aheh. I won't be surprised if it takes until I move out before I can go online or play games without getting hassled. Quote
Spritzie Posted January 10, 2011 Posted January 10, 2011 :laughingsmiley: My mom still bugs me about the computer, and other things. And I haven't lived at home in 2.5 years. But when I'd come visit, it was like I never left. Quote
CAV of Gang Green Posted January 10, 2011 Posted January 10, 2011 Well then I'll never be able to get them to understand. Quote
:)Doc Posted January 10, 2011 Posted January 10, 2011 My parents haven't bagged on me yet about my current Xbox addiction -huggles xbox- Quote
CAV of Gang Green Posted January 10, 2011 Posted January 10, 2011 They will eventually. That's one thing. My father didn't want me getting Xbox Live because he was afraid that I would get addicted. But yet I wasn't the one spending 7 hours playing Left 4 Dead non-stop only getting up for bathroom breaks. My little brother did just that. Now I have a 3 month card BUT: Everytime I connect the Xbox to my laptop, my laptop freezes. I don't get what's going on. Quote
Spritzie Posted January 10, 2011 Posted January 10, 2011 Parents will be parents. They're just concerned. Quote
CAV of Gang Green Posted January 10, 2011 Posted January 10, 2011 They should be concerned with how I am when I'm offline. Quote
-Ryan Posted January 10, 2011 Posted January 10, 2011 -hugs CAV- I felt the need to make things akward. -waddles away- Quote
Spritzie Posted January 10, 2011 Posted January 10, 2011 The age differences make things hard. I thought my parents were being horrible and cruel and didn't understand anything. But now that I'm older, I see why they did what they did. But when I was 15-17, I didn't get it at all. Quote
livvy Posted January 10, 2011 Posted January 10, 2011 One of those "you'll understand when you're older"? Aww, Spritz, you're sick too? :( So am I. Bleh, and on a snow day too. (We have almost six inches. :D ) Quote
-Ryan Posted January 10, 2011 Posted January 10, 2011 Both of you as well? xD Lol, I was looking for a page a few hundred page back and I didn't see that there was a new post, because of this. -Was amused by this- Quote

(We have almost six inches. :D ) Yes! It's one of those. It sounds so cliche, but it's true. *sits down in my rocking chair with some hot tea and a cross-stitch* Yep. My body has been fighting something off for months, but I finally hit my max stress level and my body said "Pfft forget this!" I took a nap, and woke up sick. Quote
livvy Posted January 10, 2011 Posted January 10, 2011 I was sick, and then I went away for vacation and got better. Then a couple days before I left for home, I got sick again. *rolls eyes* I mentioned the snow? Well, it's lovely and all, but I'm worried 'cuz it's interfering with our exam schedule. We're already out for today and Tuesday. I have no idea what that's going to do to our midterms. Quote
Spritzie Posted January 10, 2011 Posted January 10, 2011 I hate snow. It snowed here yesterday and last night. We only have a couple inches though, and we're supposed done. But it is supposed to be cold tonight. I hope everything goes back to normal for your classes. And you start feeling better. Quote

But they don't seem to listen to me when I try to explain myself. It's one of those "my teen son is an alien to me" even though I try to talk to them. Quote
