I'm the opposite. I spent about 10 seconds getting a name for my first Neopets.

I like to make sure it's something I won't change my mind about. I'm picky. I don't like numbers in my pet names... or underscores. None of my pets have either of those.

I'd say all of my pets but The_Lost_Desert_Guy have numbers, and most of them have underscores too.

Heh, I guess I'd be able to pick out pet names more carefully these days, but my pet (stalker271) and some of my brother's pets (who I'm now taking care of) were all born back in the days where we didn't know much better. I'm kinda okay with the numbers though - as Anime once said, they give you a convenient full name to yell when you're angry. :P

 

I really want to go to Australia. It's my dream place. I love all of the animals there.

Australia's a pretty cool place. :yes: I grew up in New Zealand, so I've been on a couple of visits there (and almost been kicked by a kangaroo xD ). I also have an old school friend who was born in Australia. Her family moved to Malaysia early on, so she grew up here, but she's now studying to become an architect back in Melbourne.

I spend forever picking the perfect name, if I have something in mind for them. But then again, sometimes names just pop into my head. Like I'm going to be painting one of my Jubjub's fire, and the name "HeatedDiscussion" popped into my head. Or "HolidayAngst" for my Christmas Jubjub, because it looks like it fell into a box of Christmas decorations.

I am not creative in case of names, so I use sites like A Gift For Life, Classic Roots, and Beauty's Ensign for Untaken Pet Names. :yes:

Heh, I'm very bad at coming up with random stuff that sounds even remotely like a decent name. My brain's just not wired for that brand of random. xD

I try to think of what comes to mind when I look at a pet, or what color I plan to paint them. Or like with my Draik, I wanted certain types of names for it.

Generally when my brother or I want to come up with a name, we get together and do a whole lot of random brainstorming (inevitably involving some bad humour) until we settle on a pretty good final choice. :yes: It works pretty well for stories and the associated worlds (not just for names there actually), and it seems to do okay at picking Neopet names too.

Sometimes when I get stuck with ideas, my husband helps me. He does really well with that. He has a Grundo that seems randomly named (humorously randomly named) but it's actually the name of an alien is some movie. (I don't remember which one.)

I suppose we can conclude that having two people to churn out ideas and bounce them off each other greatly improves selection diversity and final quality. :yes:

Those websites just saved my naming lives. :laughingsmiley:

 

When I try for names, I think of the name first then check to see if it is taken. If it is (which it generally is) then I try the same name but with a one letter or so difference until I find one!

I've never heard of any of them, though I'm assuming there for finding names that are close to something.

You're right. I'm almost positive it's the twin thing. There's no other logical explanation for it.
