Thandiflight
I collect sand for my gallery, I do not have purple sand, and the mixing recipes requiring purple sand, I will need about 2,000,000 NP to afford to complete my collection. Is it worth spending that money?
livvy
It's up to you, really, on how complete you want to be. If you want to have a complete sand gallery, and that's your goal, then yes, it's worth spending the extra NP on. If you just want a place to show off what you've collected, but don't have it necessarily as a goal, then I'd wait until you either have a ton of NP to burn, or feel a little more driven to complete your collection. Shadaw the Rampage
Complete gallerys are worth more in the resale aspect. I myself collect retired books for my gallery, and I spent 300k on a book entitled "jump to the future". It's not so much that I can outright pay it, I had to scrap and save for about 12 days straight of gaming.
Sakurabelle
As livvy said, it really depends on how complete you want your gallery to be. I have a negg gallery, meaning that there are some items that I simply will never be able to own, but I still want it to be as complete as possible. I really only save np so that I can buy gallery items. I get distracted sometimes by clothes, but having as complete a gallery as I can is why I save at all. :)
Secre
I would, but only after setting myself a period of time in which to make it back. And becoming completely obsessive! Although as I collect plushies I have many lower price plushies to buy before I really think about the biggest ones!
quit
That really depends on how important your gallery is to you. I would never spend that much, as it takes me a very long time to earn NP, and my gallery doesn't matter to me that much.
Angeló
if you want to have a prized gallery that can compete in the Gallery Contest , especially with a common theme like sand ... then yes ... if you want the bragging rights of having something rare and unique in your gallery , then yes ... if you want a more complete gallery , then yes ... I never buy my pets books or food .. but I never hesitated in paying any amount of NP's for my gallery .. I have a music gallery and each one of the items I'm missing costs an arm and a leg but I'm always saving for the next item .. the moment I have enough NP I just buy it !! I have literally spent millions of NP's already, and in return I won the Gallery Spotlight despite the fact that there are tens of music galleries out there and one of them won the spotlight not much earlier than mine (a couple months). I've been entering the contest since 2006 (with a 3-year hiatus from neopets in between) and of course not every week , I would only send in a new entry every 3-4 months or so when I felt that it's updated enough , and I finally won when my friend made me a custom layout in addition to the super items the gallery contained .. the win was only 10,000 np .. I didn't do it for the money .. I did it for the recognition , fame and the shiny trophy ... of course I'm obsessed with my gallery and even securing the win didn't slow me down on upgrading it with every new item I can afford. The way I see it , a gallery is a great investment in case you decided to resell it all ... most normal rarity items deflate over time, but most retired (180) or special (101) items will only continue to inflate in price and they'll more than make up for it .. like the dancing aishas stamp which I obtained for less than 1000np and now it's 200k .. or the punk rocker hotdog which I bought in 2004 for 200k (that was the price of the full lab map at the time, mind you) and now it's worth 2 mil .. (but of course I'm never gonna sell my gallery .. money comes and goes but precious items are priceless .. besides I don't really have any pet goals on Neopets .. I have all my dream pets which I got mostly lucky with ... that's it ...) Also sometimes telling the seller you're collecting items for your gallery will get you a huge discount ... that's how I was able to obtain the wock til you drop trading card , gruundo fan usuki and other items ... Kazedo
Most galleries go for that or more. Any collection on there you will run into a bunch of items that cost in the millions if not hundreds of millions. So have to consider how badly you want the full set before you get invested. Haha. If you can live with an incomplete set, then your good for prob 5-10 million or so, if you want all of em that epicly rises.
stephiime
Well, it's all up to you. I'm saving money to buy paint brushes and stuff, but if your goal on neopets is making a collection then go for it :D!! Though, if you have other things you plan to spend np on then 500k/2mil is wayy too much for me ahahah ;D
britt
I wouldn't be able to say, because so far I don't have anything close to that amount of money to spent. I have never really been into the whole collecting thing
Alleycat
I suppose, if I was so rich I had the highest bank account upgrade and I still would have after buying the item.
