I think TNT should preconced the entire plor before even launch it

What I mean is that the biggest issue everyone has with all the plots that had ever happened on neopets its the weeks people wait till a new step is finished. I think that, to avoid all this waiting, TNT should alredy make the ENTIRE plot before even launch it, that way we can all enjoy the plot without that annoying waiting time.

I'm not saying that plots should long like a month or so, but that we can replace all that waiting time with more activities that TNT would have the time to make if they took the time to prepare an extense plot with a lot of activities and almost no waiting time.

They even could prepare different outcomes that fits the better to the users feedback!

What do you think?

I don't think this would work. There's a lot to go into a plot, so they'd have TONS to do to get it completed. And they always have a lot going on, so they'd have to stop tons of stuff, just to work on the plot. I think it works better for them to do it as they do along. And personally, though I get a bit impatient, I prefer it that way too.

As a matter of fact from what we know, TNT already does prepare in advance to a massive extent. It's difficult to account for everything however, especially in web programming, so it's a good thing that they take the extra time to get the steps sorted out. I presume the alternative would be upwards of half a year of no site activities in the lead-up to a plot.

Additionally the wait time is good for some people, who for example might be having their exams during the plot, and need some space to catch up.

Well we have two options: Wait a year with no activities for them to create the plot. Or wait a few weeks at a time for them to create it as they go....

It's like reading a series of books. Not many people want to wait until Harry Potter is over before they start the first one (for example)

And this alsostops the prospect of people just skipping ahead to the end.

We still have to wait like a year for them to release an actual plot anyway :/, and with all these new activities happening like the altador cup or the game master challenge I don't think people will get bored

But with TNT spending most of their time getting the plot done, they wouldn't have time to organize the Altador Cup, GMC, Daily Dare, etc.

So basically you're saying that TNT needs more manpower and more efficient coordination, not that their current approach to development is incorrect. That's a point I think most of us can agree on. Unfortunately, Viacom doesn't seem like it will be giving them the resources they need any time soon. :(

It would be more than nice - it would be awesome!

Ian should totally buy Neopets from Viacom. :P

Ian is our boss. :P He's the owner and founder of The Daily Neopets. Unfortunately I doubt he's actually rich enough to buy and support Neopets (for now).

I like the waiting time to a certain extent. My college life doesn't allow me to get online everyday, so I need the waiting periods to keep up with the plot.

Agreed. I even missed out on a few things with TFR because I didn't have time to catch up.

I'm certain majority of the plot was storyboarded, though. Would be interesting if they were really making it up as they went haha (Maybe Snarkie can give some insight if she's around)

But, I think that the plot would feel rushed if they had everything ready and waiting/had it released on a set schedule.

I like this break. It reminds me to get ready for finals, so I don't just sit around trying to finish the latest plot step. 2 more days and I'll be home, complaining about the long wait like the rest of you, ha.

They also stated in one of the editorials that although mucvh of it is done before the plot starts, doing it as the plot goes along allows them to change aspects to fit our feedback which I think is good.

Where is all this "wait a year" stuff coming from? TNT obviously has an extensive staff of graphics people and writers to handle the continuous updates and events (advent calendar, pet days, GMC, DD, etc etc).

Why would the plot take an entire year to create if they did it ahead of time while taking considerably less time to do it on the fly? That makes no sense whatsoever. Obviously the site would not use ALL of its resources on a single plot, so we would not have zero activities for a year. Second, why would it take a year to create a plot that can be created week to week? If it takes X amount of time to finish the plot as it goes along, it would likely take X amount of time to finish it all at once. There is little reason to assume otherwise.

Not that I am arguing for full completion before the launch. I just do not find the "no activities for a year" or for 6 months to be a reasonable assumption.

I will say, that for TFR, there have been considerable less glitches than in previous plots. I also agree with many other comments, such as life getting in the way before we can get to the plot. The time lapse would definitely more frustrating if there were more bugs and glitches. I'm NOT a computer programmer, but I know several. The countless hours that must go into plots (especially for the part where we had teams for the puzzle, remember that!?) takes time to prepare for release. I'm sure that they have been working on this in advance and are taking time to edit in between. I like that this is taking time. Much better than Cyodrake's Gaze, that went by so fast, I missed it! XD

I completely agree with you on that. I almost missed an entire battle simply because I wasn't able to get online for about a week. It would stink if things happened so quickly that you couldn't safely take a couple days or even a week off. I'm rather enjoying the pace of things right now. :)
