As the results were released, we heard several screeches of joy, and an equal amount of disappointed boos. I’m at the Colosseum where one of the highlights of the day’s matches occurred. Yesterday the Darigan Minions took on the Lost Desert Marauders in what was sure to be a decisive match. The Minions were ranked third going into the game, looking to upset the Marauders who have dominated the standings since early in the tournament, as well as the game of Yooyuball until a recent defeat by the Natives of Mystery Island. It was a momentous battle, and one that will be remembered for a long time (or at least until it's eclipsed by the next big match). When push came to shove, it was the shrewd strategies employed by Layton Vickles and his Yooyuball squad that won the day for the Minions, hammering the Marauders' morale with the second defeat in a row. The Lost Desert did manage to draw Slushie Slinger and win the other two side games however, keeping themselves in the leaderboard's top seat for now. The Mystery Island Natives were hoping to continue their winning streak today with their next opponents, the Shenkuu Ninjas. However, the Ninjas were fired up and would have none of it, flooring the Natives with a one-two punch in Yooyuball and Make Some Noise, while leaving the other two games drawn. Volgoth, the Native team captain who led his team to an upset victory over the top-ranked Mummies, was pointedly unavailable for comment. However, his teammate Teylor Nix was able to spend a few moments with us. What happened out there? “I think that we focused so much on the Mummies that we didn’t really think about what was going to happen the next day. We all gave our best in that match, and I still have cramps from that experience. We may have been a little overconfident after our win, but I guess that was fixed yesterday.” Very well said. Good luck with the rest of the cup! Our next match up was between the Kikos and the Magmas. Both of these teams haven’t had very much luck recently and were ranked 16th and 18th going into the match. Both teams, each hoping to get a taste of victory, tried their hardest yesterday, but from the results it seems that the Kiko Lakers were trying harder. Team Moltara suffered an across-the-board sweep, an outcome which they seem to be getting used to. Another interesting battle took place as the Knights of Meridell fought to keep their spot in the top four against the Roos. Both teams hold positions in the top eight, although the Roos are still trying to prove that they are better than the middle tier team they’ve been labelled as this year. The brave teams ended up drawing in Yooyuball, but a win for the Roos in Make Some Noise and Shootout Showdown, complete with their usual flair, proved that they still have some of their stuff. Next we had a remarkable match up with the Fossils and the Pirates. The Fossils have not had that much luck this year getting wins, but they have been able to stay steady in the rankings with side game records unlike any other. The Pirates came in hoping to join the handful of teams that have been able to beat the Fossils in Yooyuball and also manage to perform in side games. The Pirates won in Yooyuball, but the Fossils didn't let up in the side games. Hoping to push each other out of the way, the Wizards and Robots met yesterday, each hoping to eliminate the other's chances of ranking in the elite top four. The Wizards came into the match only a single place ahead of the Robots in the standings. The Robots did a very good job and rolled away with wins in Yooyuball, Make Some Noise and Shootout Showdown, though the Wizards won Slushie Slinger. In a fight to stay out of the bottom tier, the Zombies took on the Suns. With the Zombies barely staying ahead of the Suns for much of the season so far, both teams have felt a sort of desperation lately to win their match ups. The Zombies swept over Altador, which brought them a much needed standings boost.
There has been doubt that Maraqua is as good as last year, while others believe that they just haven’t had enough motivation yet to truly perform. The Mermaids won in all games but Slushie Slinger against Faerieland, where the two teams drew. Team captain of Faerieland, Kakoni Worrill, commented, "I think that our fans expect better from us and we just aren’t able to perform at the same level as some of the other teams. The other teams are just lucky that it is against the rules for us to use our faerie abilities to fly past the competition. Solid ground is not our cup of tea.” Last but not least we have the Moons from Kreludor, whose recent success in all areas has buoyed them up in the top tier since day one. On the other hand, Terror Mountain has shown almost no prowess in Yooyuball but has dominated Shootout Showdown and kept up a spirited performance in the other side games. The Moons' run of success continued with a win in Yooyuball and Slushie Slinger, but Terror Mountain shined in its home sport, Shootout Showdown, and also took Make Some Noise. That wraps up our news for today ladies and gents, this is Lion, live reporter from Altador, singing off. *strange pop singing in the background*
CAV of Gang Green
I couldn't play yesterday, but at least we still won. Congrats and good game to all participants, especially to my MQ comrades.
Monica
I dont see the name Shenkuu Ninjas in there, btw. Did anyone proof-read? Thank you Shenkuu for stepping up, I still feel like the only one doing any work around here, but I know you guys are working hard. Still feeling like my conspiracy theory is holding up, too, but we'll see.
Person335
Man, I didn't play yesterday. Got caught up doing other stuff. Now I get to see the consequences of not playing: red in my face followed by "LOSE". (I am seriously starting to lose hope now...)
j_l_e_s_t
HW is finally getting to move up in the standings. But, on the other hand, we have MI today, and I'm kinda worried.

Thank you Shenkuu for stepping up, I still feel like the only one doing any work around here, but I know you guys are working hard. Congratulations on your victory! :) It appears our choppy transmission managed to silently drop one of the packets in today's report (translation: that'll teach me to copy and paste in chunks). I've retrieved the errant paragraph from our original copy and inserted it back in. My sincerest apologies for the error. That said, I strongly resent your assertion that our reports are not proof-read, having spent a considerable amount of time proof-reading and editing this particular report. tempdisplay
I saw Shenkuu, even before the edit...? Anyway, lovely report Lion! I just wish Maraqua swept the Faeries :( Yesterday's match gave me a GREAT comic idea, I'll do it on Saturday, our break day
Noog
I'm glad we got the win against LD. Even though our rank didn't rise, I'd rather just perform than set future goals.

Secre
What on earth is happening to LD!? We've gone from a clean sweap to two losses in a row!!!!
-Ryan
What's so bad about losing to Darigan Citadel? And you guys haven't beaten MI since AC2, you're just following the pattern. :)

I'm sorry, I was not asserting that you do not proof-read. I am just glad that we here on the Shenkuu team finally seem to be getting back to the level of play I expected and was stung by the lack of mention. And you guys haven't beaten MI since AC2, you're just following the pattern. :) Ah, that makes more sense! I wasn't trying to say that we should have beated DC or in anyway demean your win - I was just surprised by the 10 streak being followed by two losses! I didn't know that we always lose to MI either! dsj9999
True, Darigan's got so many YYB all-stars on it, its pretty hard to win against us.

voteforpedro333
Mmm, I expected the loss to DC sadly. Looking back at my records, in AC III and IV, we drew three times and LD won the fourth meeting near the end of IV. Plus, with the additional sting of MI and DC's pretty good gameplay (you guys should really lay off the Layton Vickles scoring, haha) it was sort of expected. Not that I had no hope, but I just wouldn't be disappointed about a loss to what seems very likely to be a top tier team. It should be smooth sailing through the next five teams though  So don't be worried about the two losses, at least we know that we aren't perfect and that we need to know when to step it up. That's fine, I was a bit too tired when I wrote that post and I apologise for jumping to conclusions. :) Oddly enough, you were indirectly mentioned before the edit - Teylor Nix was actually discussing MI's loss to your team, I just accidentally dropped the paragraph containing the actual match information. xD
Monica
Your stats are amazing. :wub_anim: Keep doing the team proud :D It's funny you should mention that, I have a screen shot of my scores from last year 10 days into AC IV and they were abysmal (952/164/360/1200).
