Anime Posted January 5, 2011 Posted January 5, 2011 It would be a while before we could do this, but I want to see if it's even worth planning out... What if we had a little TDN Pokemon Tournament with BW? We could use the offical Pokemon tournament rules (the BW rules should be out in April) but play over WiFi. The tournament style would depend on the number of people playing. Quote
The Score in Blue Posted January 5, 2011 Posted January 5, 2011 That would be cool but I wouldn't be participating. I'm not planning to buy B/W and there's no Wi-Fi where I am. Quote
Tyler. Posted January 5, 2011 Posted January 5, 2011 I will definitely participate in that if it happens Quote
CAV of Gang Green Posted January 6, 2011 Author Posted January 6, 2011 I would love a Black/White torney. I saw the 3DS mentioned a few posts ago, and I heard that it could hurt your eyes. Full story here. I hope it doesn't damage the use of the system. I really want it to be good. Quote
flyingeevee Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 A tournament sounds great! I just started training one of my dream team members and hope to at least finish before B/W come out ^^ Which I pre-ordered just today :laughingsmiley: Quote
Anime Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 That risk comes with anything in 3D. There's a reason they included the slider thing to adjust the angle of it. You can find the angle you feel is most comfortable, or you can turn it off completely. I pre-orderd mine a while aog. x3 The advertisement at GameStop that I saw when i got my Raikou said $34.99, so minus the $5 I had to put down to pre-order, $29.99 Quote
flyingeevee Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 *high fives Anime* I got that Shiny Raikou as well! That's when the guy convinced me to just pre-order now since I'm moving to a new location by that time and apparently every new pokemon game sells way more quicker than my little town does x3 Two of my other cousins are getting the games too and we all agreed to get different starters so that we can trade with each other ^^ I'm getting Snivy =3 Quote
Tyler. Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 I'll convince whoever picks me up from school to take me to gamestop tomorrow for the raikou Quote
Manta Posted January 7, 2011 Posted January 7, 2011 I saw the 3DS mentioned a few posts ago, and I heard that it could hurt your eyes. Full story here. Thanks for the read :/ I'm probably not going to be getting one then, as I already have enough eye problems to deal with :guiltysmiley: Although I already have a DS, so I should be fine. I might participate in a tournament, although I'm not very good at competitive battling xD Quote
jesse_rocket Posted January 7, 2011 Posted January 7, 2011 And me, I'm over 6, so I'm not too concerned ;) Also, yeah, I'm yuk at competitive battling, so I'll take a raincheck on the tourney. :) Quote
CAV of Gang Green Posted January 7, 2011 Author Posted January 7, 2011 Anyone over the age of 20-something should only use it for 30 minutes at a time. Nice to know that I share a bit of news and all I get is lectures. Quote
flyingeevee Posted January 7, 2011 Posted January 7, 2011 Thank you for the article CAV ^^ I considered getting it after hearing another Animal Crossing would come out with it too in due time and I'm already blind as it is! I haven't fought another human being in YEARS!!! I wanna try the tournament though don't laugh at me when I'm not that good xD Quote
jesse_rocket Posted January 7, 2011 Posted January 7, 2011 Aww, CAV, you think that was a lecture? Just you wait ...I'm teasing, of course. But srsly. I tend to be horribly sensitive to 3D stuff anyway, get quite the headaches, so I'll be waiting a wee while before getting the 3DS, probably once they start shifting their focus to games that can only be played on it. Quote
CAV of Gang Green Posted January 7, 2011 Author Posted January 7, 2011 Jesse, all of the launch titles that are made for it will only be playable on the 3DS. ALL of the games made for it will only be played on the 3DS, with some small exceptions. Quote
Anime Posted January 7, 2011 Posted January 7, 2011 Yeah, what CAV said. Full gen swap. The only reason BW is still on the DS with the 3DS release so close is because Japan likes to have it's glory time and makes us wait 5 months to get our new Pokemon. I will, however, note that the 3DS has full backwards compatability to the DS. You'll be able to play all your old games on it (though naturally they'll still be 2D). 3DS games will have the same chip type cartridge as the DS, but they'll have a little notch thing sticking off to the side at the top. You won't be able to put them in your normal DS point blank. Quote
Manta Posted January 8, 2011 Posted January 8, 2011 Full gen swap? Uh oh. :O It wouldn't be as much of a problem if I could actually see 3d :P Quote
Anime Posted January 8, 2011 Posted January 8, 2011 You will be able to turn off the 3D, you know. There's a slider switch thing so you cna adjust the angle or turn it off completely. Quote
CAV of Gang Green Posted January 8, 2011 Author Posted January 8, 2011 It's actually well known by now that you can turn off the 3D. It's not mandatory, allrealelements. Quote
jesse_rocket Posted January 10, 2011 Posted January 10, 2011 Ah, makes sense (regarding the releasing-only-3DS-games thing), I wasn't sure if the 3DS was actually a whole new gen thing, or just another shiny enhanced version. With it being a new gen, I probably won't be getting one for a while then. My motivation s for buying a new Nintendo handheld is always almost entirely reliant on when they first release a Pokemon game on it. :D Quote
Anime Posted January 10, 2011 Posted January 10, 2011 European and Australian release dates! Get this- Europe gets BW on March 4th. Seriously, this is the first time they get a mains series Pokemon game before the US. The Aussies and Kiwis (Australia and New Zealand for those of you who don't talk to Cameron on a regular basis) get them March 10th. Quote

Normally it's delayed by weeks, even months :P Quote
Anime Posted January 10, 2011 Posted January 10, 2011 Reported on Serebii today. So I'd say 100% true. You lucky lucky people. Quote
Spritzie Posted January 10, 2011 Posted January 10, 2011 Is it generally better to pre-order a game like this? (I'm assuming you are able pre-order) Or is it fairly easy to get the game right after it's released? Quote
Anime Posted January 10, 2011 Posted January 10, 2011 It really depends on where you're buying. If you're getting from GameStop, I'd say yeah, pre-order. They tend to have a slightly more limited stock per store. If you're getting it at, say, Target, aside from not being able to pre-order there, they have a much larger stock so you'd be safe just heading out to ge a copy. Overall, I'd suggest pre-ordering from GameStop. They always get things on the offical release date (Target and such tend to get all new games on in Tuesday or Wednesday regardless of the offical release) and you're garunteed to get any pre-order fancyness. HG/SS, for example, not only came with Ho-oh and Lugia figurines when pre-ordered, but had special pre-order only boxes (they are very very shiny). Quote
Spritzie Posted January 10, 2011 Posted January 10, 2011 Shiny is good. :D Is there a date at which point you can no longer pre-order? Quote
