  1. I was recently reviewing the rules (yes, lil ole me!) and noticed that you could get in trouble for resurrecting old threads. Most places I've seen that say this usually specify how old is too old (two weeks, four weeks, etc.), but I didn't see any suggestion here.

What are best practices in this situation?

  2. I can't live without the SSW. I save anything that isn't generally cheap or I don't care about (food, etc.) until I can get access again.

That being said, I realized recently that I've unconsciously developed a pricing pattern.

    • 10,001+: Drop to the next five hundred. | Example: object priced 54,239; I'd list for 53,500
    • 1,000-9,999: Drop to the next hundred | Object priced 2,354; I'd list for 2,200
    • 100-999: Drop by twenty-five | Object priced at 535; I'd list for 500
    • 10-99: Drop by five | Object priced at 75; I'd list for 70

The only time I go below ten is when it's food, as food almost always sells. If it's around 25 and not food, I'll probably chuck it, as it's very unlikely to sell.

  3. I finally came up with an idea! So far, I've written in two spurts of about fifteen minutes each...I just don't know how many words I have, because the second block was written on a legal pad and I haven't typed it up yet. :P

(Went out application hunting today and was so hot and tired that I stopped and had a drink at McDonald's and wrote some. ^_^)

  4. They get their slaves...er...human parents...to do it for them!

That quote at the very beginning of the thread was from one night when Ani and I were in the basement and a mouse was climbing the wall, and...yeah. xD

  5. If you're using Word, Lev*, there's a word-count feature in it. (Especially 2010 and later...it shows WC at the bottom of the screen, in that case.)

I'm not going to say how long it can take me to write a paper/essay for a class, because if I was on the reading end and I wasn't me, I'd be all, "Curse you, Daya!" :P | Plus, how long it takes me to write depends on what the topic is and how fast I can get those synapses to fire. :D

*I don't know if you want to be called "Patricia", "Patty" or what, so I'll just leave it at Lev. :)

  6. Who is this woman? The teacher? Your guidance counselor? If it's not the guidance counselor, you need to get him/her involved; especially if they know not only your educational track record, but also that you've been having seizures and issues at home. Your counselor will probably have advice above and beyond a doctor's note and may even be able to intervene with the teacher.

It seems like my counselor had to help me out in some fashion when I wanted to take AP English. The teacher was strict, but I don't remember him being so up-in-arms about having a perfect grade to get into the class. (Of course, he was one of those teachers that was straightlaced during classroom time, but when we had quiz bowl practice, he loosened up a bit.) My counselor probably had to help me squeeze into world literature or something to help me qualify.

If the woman in question is the guidance counselor, get your parents involved. They'll help you get the doctor's note and talk to the teacher and the counselor, if need be. I don't know what my mom did for me behind my back (and always in front of it!) when I was younger, but I know she was the sort that would've gone straight to the principal for assistance if need be...I hope your parents are the same way.

Keep us posted...that's what we're here for! (Thank goodness for the internet...there are a lot of nasty people out there, and then there are places like this, where cooler heads prevail!)

  7. I've thought about something like ESL, but I don't speak any language fluently enough to help people with the transition. (My Spanish would probably need to improve in great leaps and bounds for me to be at all useful.)

I don't know if I'd have the patience to do something like Teach for America and I'm not sure I'd be comfortable where I ended up, either. O.o

As for teaching in general, I'd like to be a professor, but you have to have a masters degree and programs aren't easy. I was going to teach between my masters and my doctorate when I started into grad school last fall, but I ran into some super-complicated math and fled. :(

  8. Sorry, Em...I unliked that because the collateral on the chokato was nothing worth liking. O.o

I was trying to think of how I did that. Seems like I got an angel lender.

In fact, I'm pretty sure I had an angel lender, because two or three people saw my trade lot to give it back and they asked for it. :P

I love the ALP here, though. Except every time I sign up for a pet chain, I end up deciding there's something more important in my personal swaps and I "ring" Brit to cancel. >.<

  9. Huzzah! *many hugs for Shels and everyone who has achieved their avvie goals recently*

Let me see...I think I need to update my avvie lists...*done*

    • I have 236
    • The wishing well is one of them
    • Looks like I gave up on Edna (no surprise...maybe I should start again after I recoup my AC memorabilia spending)
    • I have all the flash avvies
    • I gave up a long time ago on the LoD (someone report in if you get it?)
    • I can't even get past 100 items for the packrat before I get tired of doing it
    • I have no idea what to pursue next. (I have slorg on my Neopian profile, but I'd like to start writing for the NT, too.)
    • My last was the other day, when I got the stock market avvie

Aaand one more *hug* for Shels. :D
