Completely, even if it was a colour I don't like at all. I didn't know this could happen :weird:

Well, today I took to the Lab my Lab Rat pet, as usual. And then I got this message: The ray is fired at anie513273 and she changes colour to Purple!!

 

You are probably thinking... so what? That's what the Lab does! Well, the thing is that Anie was already purple colour (since last week I think, when she was changed from Swamp Gas to Purple). I've never been zapped like that; I mean... without any colour change at all... :mellow:

 

 

 

Day 12: Three matches. 19,500NP. I feel it's weird, yesterday I got two matches and I got almost the same amount.

I think the sketch colour is so simple yet so nice. I love it! (Even if it looks too perfectly drawn to be called "sketched")

Pastel on the other side... yuck, I don't like it al all, it's just there is something weird with the colours they put on him.

I got two matches (two yoyos, an usuki gift and a pot of cream) and I got 19,000np

I've read all the posts on this topic and I must say that I only agreed with a little part of them. I think we all have pets that we like and pets (or colours) we don´t. While reading I felt that many nice designs were posted on here just because people don't like them and not because they really need a review :mellow:

 

I mean, that Christmas Usul is pretty sad (A yellow usul with an elf hat, really? :whofarted:), some Royals are just regular pets with a crown and faeries are just regular pets with wings... and they need a change but others just look good they way they are. We all know that not every design from a same colour (Tyrannian for example) has the same work or details or creativity but I really think that most of them are cute and special in their own ways.

 

I totally agree with the one who said that the re-design of the pets when all the clothing and customization thing came ruined many well-drawn pets. I will never forgive myself for changing Deejenya, my Darigan Ixi.

Day 9: I got Three matches and  19,500NP. This is easy np, no doubt

I love the wig and the navy top, I am pretty sure that a Lenny will look awesome with both items :P

People may be voting for poorer quality art because of the avatar that comes from the Beauty Contest.

If people want to promote their entry then that's fine with me. Everyone deserves a chance to win no mater what their drawing capabilities are.

 

I agree, and art is, you know, such a complex and subjective topic. Probably the one that doesn't have that drawing skills is putting more effort on their work than "the good ones", and asking for votes is the way for them to get a trophy. We can't forget that making a campaign for your drawing on the NeoBoards is hard work too!

I like to go to the Beauty Contest page to vote to my favourite drawings of the different species of Neopia, it's nice to see that many people still join the contest and try their best to make art.

 

I am a little surprised because it looks like in these last weeks there is a hard debate between two factions of contestants:

 

• On one side we have the ones that want the Beauty Contest section on NeoBoards to close down, they say that it is unfair that many "bad drawings" win the BC even with "no quality" just because the SPAM on the forums (the vote for vote thing) or just because they know more people on neopets.
• On the other side we have the contestants that defend that the advertising of the drawing is a part of the Beauty Contest, probably as important as the drawing that you made for that contest.

 

I must say that I understand all the points of view, it is logical that good artists feel that their work is being understimated, but, on the other hand... If the only winners of this contests were the real artists probably most of us won't have a chance to win... :sad01_anim:
