SidtheSnail
So I'm restocking my shop, and i come across like 5 shops who have a low price, then a few thousand neopoint jump in the price. Am I allowed to buy out the cheaper ones and re-increase the price, what what point does that become a monopoly and purposefully raising the price of items, which I know is against the rules? weezieb3
butterflybaby8628
I've done that (buying out the cheap 1NP items so I can reasonably price my item with the other 3,000+NP items) and never had an issue. I believe the monopoly rule comes into play if you are buying out ALL other items and pricing WAY above market value. (i.e, a Lint Jelly for 99,999). Just don't go crazy and you should be fine. And remember, if you're using the Shop Wizard, the only prices that matter are the ones in your category. For example my username starts with a "b" so when I'm pricing out items I refresh until I see other usernames that begin with "B" "O" or "0". Hope that makes sense! :nerd:
CylonPirate
I don't really think the rules regarding monopoly are enforced all that much tbh. People have been falsely inflating codestones for years and it never seems to go noticed by staff.
Moga
If I recall right, the monopoly rules only apply to groups of players. This is probably because with so many players across so many time zones, a single player can't corner the market for anything except items that are already in very limited supply. But players aren't allowed to coordinate buy-outs with anyone else, since a group would have much more power over prices and supplies than an individual. Rune Valentine
Well it really depends. Was the item 100 NP before, and you're trying to sell it for 99,999? That will probably get you reported. But if you're buying items a couple of thousand NP under what you're selling it for, then that's perfectly natural. A lot of resellers actually do this with books, codestones, neggs, gourmets, etc. But buying out a single item for the sole purpose of jacking up the price is a big no-no. As long as what you are doing is done by yourself and you are not asking anyone for assistance and claiming your item is worth such its completely fine.
