yesadnil Posted September 25, 2014 Posted September 25, 2014 257 avatars, trying to get some more of the luck-based ones. Just spent 50,000 NPs on the lever of doom, clicked 1,000 times and STILL haven't gotten the avatar. D: Is it just me? Or does everyone spend this much for it? And I was playing Grand Theft Ummagine to get the avatar, struggled for hours to get to level 17 because I'm so terrible at games, when my computer crashed. I was so frustrated I almost threw my laptop out the window. AHHHHHH!!!! WHYYYYYY Quote
blackberrypatch Posted September 25, 2014 Posted September 25, 2014 Well, I remember when I was trying to get this avatar I did some digging in the forums and found that plenty of people spent over 100k. Comparing np spent to other people's experience is probably better than focusing on the fact you clicked 1000 times. :) IIRC it took me over 100k for this avatar. Quote
Shelley Posted September 25, 2014 Posted September 25, 2014 hmm yep, sounds about right. Thankfully I had good luck with the lever...but don't get me started with Kelp. yikes. haha i also have yet to complete grand theft for the same reason lol, very frustrating indeed Quote
teeniem55 Posted September 25, 2014 Posted September 25, 2014 That stupid Kelp Avi. I felt so bad for my Pet. I went with her being more than bloated and I bought one thing from every menu, then went back and bought two things hoping I'd get it and nothing. I don't even want to think how much money I spent. yesadnil 1 Quote
nousha Posted September 25, 2014 Posted September 25, 2014 Oh, I hate luck avatars :( I'm trying for the Discarded Plushie and Snowager, and Wheel of Knowledge AND Treasure Island for ages! And now we have another one, the new Kiko daily, to get on my nerves :) But yes, I spent tens of thousands of NP on the lever of doom. Maybe 60 or 70K :( yesadnil 1 Quote
blowupthesun Posted September 25, 2014 Posted September 25, 2014 If neopets EVER awards me the buried treasure or deserted tomb avatars, my head will probably explode! I spent about 40k on the lever of doom. I found this a while back in the neopian times: "When the Lever of Doom obtains 100,000 neopoints from different Neopians, the Grundos decide to award the 100,000 neopoint "donator" a gift, which, is, indeed, the avatar!" I did not want to ever have to see that stupid robot hand again, so I opened two windows side by side and pulled in both of them just to try and get it over with - and that's what worked for me! There are a lot of people who spent over 100k on it, though. yesadnil 1 Quote
yesadnil Posted September 25, 2014 Author Posted September 25, 2014 That's encouraging to know. :) I'll try that trick of opening two windows, and hopefully speed the process along! I need that avatar or it's going to plague me for the rest of my days.... Quote

I need that avatar or it's going to plague me for the rest of my days.... Use at your own discretion! I don't want to be responsible for someone throwing tens of thousands of NP away :( But I'm super unlucky with pretty much everything on neopets, so I figured if it does work that way, with a certain NP amount, that might "tip the scale" and force the thing to give me the avatar. I didn't want to have to keep doing it everyday. Quote
brynchilla Posted September 25, 2014 Posted September 25, 2014 I didn't spend too much on it, but that was because I was lucky. Not everyone is lucky. :( *rubs good luck off on you* My bad luck comes in the form of scoring 20 points away from the score needed to get an avatar. Quote
jcpet Posted September 25, 2014 Posted September 25, 2014 I spent probably 200k on the lever of doom avatar in one sitting. Most people get it after spending 100k or so. It's just one of those avatars where TNT wants you to spend your money, unfortunately. As for game avatars, I'm pretty bad at them too. I think for most people it takes a lot of practice and determination, so don't be discouraged! You'll get the avatar soon :) Quote
Avia loves Chias Posted September 25, 2014 Posted September 25, 2014 i try to spend only 1k at a time on the lever of doom. over time, i've probably spent about 50k on it, but only doing it a few times a day makes me feel less like i'm dumping a lot of money in it and prevents my head from exploding. >_< Quote
Sara_1 Posted September 26, 2014 Posted September 26, 2014 This is why I don't avie collect. Too many books, codestones, paintbrushes and weapons to buy with my NP and throw it away in that manner than throw it down the proverbial trash shoot for a square graphic that I won't ever even use. Maybe when I'm a neopian gazillionaire *lol* I'll start to care about avatars but for right now, I'll stick to clickables, game avatars if I get them and random's. Quote

Rune Valentine Posted September 26, 2014 Posted September 26, 2014 We've all been through spending a ridiculous amount of NP for an avatar (hello HT - Richest :P) but it does take quite a bit of luck for these avs. I think I only spent like 10k on the Lever of Doom though. Wait til you only have random avatars left to obtain...those are driving me mad... Quote
Mumtup Posted September 27, 2014 Posted September 27, 2014 I keep trying sporadically spending several K each time. Have you tried a guide for Grand Theft Ummagine? It did wonders for me. Quote
yesadnil Posted September 28, 2014 Author Posted September 28, 2014 I have tried guides! I'm still horrible at timing, and get so flustered when the guards come too close. Quote
gingerew Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 I'm sure I spent at least 250k on the Lever of Doom avvie, and that includes playing on Neopets birthday where random events are more likely without getting it...until finally I got it later after only spending a few thousand. That's why they are random unfortunatey, so there's not much you can do but decide how much money you are willing to put in! Quote
jorydan_dopeaf Posted October 1, 2014 Posted October 1, 2014 I try to pull the lever at least 10-15 times a day. Still haven't gotten it yet :( Quote
