mg394551
Hi! I'm back on neopets after a little hiatus. I just recently started working on my coffee/tea gallery and would love any feedback, suggestions or advise. I've been using jellyneos item database to help me find items. I started at the lowest cost ones, and worked my way up, with about 5-6 ~200-250K items and a few 90K+ items. I really want to apply for the gallery spotlight soon so any feedback would be lovely! http://www.neopets.com/gallery/index.phtml?gu=mg394551 Thank you all :) Oh, I also tried to order them from most expensive to least expensive :) This post has been edited by a member of staff (Rune Valentine) because of a violation of the forum rules. Avia loves Chias
i'm not sure if they'll let you win the gallery spotlight with a layout made by someone else. i'm not sure, so someone can correct me if i'm wrong. and disregard my comment if that's just a temporary layout. .Brianna. I was under the same impression, but again I may just be wrong as well lol Personally, I feel the way you currently have it arranged seems disorderly - I noticed you mention that in your description, but I honestly missed that the first time I viewed your gallery... The galleries that I find to be most visually appealing tend to be organized by theme (i.e. coffees, teas, chais etc) or by color ^_^ Just a suggestion - take it or leave it! I won't be offended :) *sips latte* I will say that I love your theme though!! Good luck!
fullonparanoid
I think you CAN win Gallery Spotlight with a pre-made layout. However, especially with items that are popular to collect...TNT judges tend to give weight to custom layouts. I would try to arrange the items in something other than order of value. Devise at least a few different categories to sort your collection into. As suggested above, organizing by theme or color would also be an improvement. I would also have a unique 'introductory' paragraph or description, links to things like a Thank You page and/or Wishlist page...basically anything you can think of to personalize the gallery. Tea and Coffee are popular items to collect because the items are pretty and fun...so you will likely have several other Neopians as competition. As such you need to do everything you can to make YOUR collection stand out. Good luck! :P Avia loves Chias
mg394551
Thanks everyone for the feedback. I really appreciate it!! I'm very very new to the gallery thing, and i loveeee coffee which is why I chose it - plus a lot of the item art is so pretty; even though its a common thing to collect :) I tried to mess around with categories but didn't really know what I was doing, so I'll give it another try. chubit
Maybe we should make a "general gallery feedback" thread, because I'd also really like some feedback on my gallery. It's definitely still work in progress, but I'm currently trying to work out the best way to divide up the items. Also, I really like the tea/coffee gallery (as you can tell from mine, I'm very partial to food items) but I agree with others on the arranging. Try grouping together items that are the same type but different flavours, that tends to be pleasing to look at. mg394551
