.Brianna.
I recently acquired a Sword of Apocalypse and Icy Battle Duck. I was wondering if it is worth it for me to keep either (or both) or not. I read up on them in the Battlepedia and neither has an outstanding rating, but that seems to be because of cost. My current set is as follows: - Greater Healing Scroll - Festive Holiday Scroll - Ridiculously Heavy Battle Hammer - Scroll of the Wise - Scarab Ring - Downsize! - Green Frost Cannon (My last slot is empty) I consistently use the first 4 and occasionally use the next 2. I rarely use the cannon if ever. I've been contemplating adding a Golden Compass but have yet to do so. Would you switch anything out for one of these two items? Add one of them? My battle pet is xpaternox if that influences your advice at all. Any help is appreciated - I don't need the np I would earn from selling, so finances aren't necessarily an issue here. Thanks! wolfponies
I would totally change my Festive Holiday Scroll for the Icy Battle Duck, then I'd be happy :) Checked out your battle pet. Why not giving it a 13 icon weapon? Afraid to spoil the little baby? :P
Aquamentis12
Hmmmmm..... Icy Battle Duck would give you a 10-iconer. The Sword of Apocalypse would be 8.5-14 icons. So that wouldn't be AS good, just because fractals are annoying. lol If you only 1p, the Icy Battle Duck, like Wolfponies said, would be a marginal improvement. You might consider upgrading at least one of your other weapons sometime as well. Although, training is, at least imho, a bit more important than the icons a weapon deals. If you'd like your pet to be a bit more balanced. Train Defense to 200 for the boost. There's a nice jump from 3 to 4.5 there. ;) The next boost would be a 1 point multiplier at 250, bringing your total icon multiplier to 5.5 so that would be decent too. ;) Here is a list of the boosts if you don't know about it. http://battlepedia.thedailyneopets.com/index.php/articles/viewarticle/battle-strength-defense-boosts/ I hope this is useful. :)
.Brianna.
Thanks :) I'm currently working on training defense so hopefully the boost will come in the next couple weeks. I've thought about upgrading some of my other weapons but sometimes the bd can be a little overwhelming.
wolfponies
Awww now I wanna train stuff to 200 as well!
Aquamentis12
Well Brianna, when you consider there are over 2500+ different pieces of equipment for the BD, it can be a little daunting. The trick is to learn what the good items are, and what to avoid. ;) BP staff, the reviews, and the BP's main purpose is to help battlers by sharing what we know and what we learn. Of course non-staff contributions for verified tests and info is always welcome too. :) I'm pretty good at battle strategy, and since I spent so much of my battling history being underpowered, I've got a decent sense of how to battle on a budget. Of course there's an element of luck, and with the new abilities system, you will often have to rely on your luck a bit more. But really, training is key. Even a weak weapon can be made more powerful through training. just like in the hands of a weak pet, a powerful weapon can be supremely less effective than it could be. ;) I believe the trick is in finding a happy medium. Then, once you've trained to the maximum boosts, 750 I believe. You'll have a good start against most opponents. Even if your weapons aren't the most powerful. ;) For example, I still use a Leaf Shield, the green one from Illusen's quests. Not as useful as it USED to be, thanks to Lens Flare and Warlock's Rage stopping the opponent each once per battle. ;) But against the right foe, it can be very useful still. There aer better, more expensive pieces of equipment out there, but I really can't afford them, and at present prices, I think they're too high. LOL In fact, I still even have Downsize! even! And my ONLY Hidden Tower item is the Ghostkerbomb, which I got at a discount in auctions. Lots of players who are newer than I am, have fully decked out equipment with the anagram swords from the Tower, or even smuggler's cove weapons, which really look cool, but almost impossible to get a hold of. Anyway, if you know your enemy (thanks to the BP's 1-player profiles) then you can start looking for appropriate equipment to beat them. Stats are of course important for every aspect of the battle. So that's why it's important to train regardless of how expensive your equipment might be. ;) LOL Wolfponies, if you feel like making a thread with any questions you may have, there are a number of knowledgeable people who might be able to give you some advice if you have questions. XD Happy battling! :)
