Why Amazon? Why???

I placed an order of ten items on Amazon and the wait for it to ship is driving me nuts! I did that free shipping speed that's 5-8 business days which I'm assuming means it takes 5-8 days for the items to ship. The delivery date estimate is Monday the 12th through Thursday the 15th. So I'm assuming that it will ship tomorrow, but the wait is making me excited because I ordered a book that I haven't read since Middle School and I managed to buy the last one in stock. I ordered my package on the 5th so it's been four days. I just wish that my package was here already.

Sorry about the long post. I'm just super excited.

I'm addicted to Amazon, I feel like you can find everything you could possibly want there. I kind of want to try prime but it seems so expensive - I've heard good things about it though.

What book are you waiting on??

I know right? I can even get my makeup from Amazon. I even found the yummiest looking Japanese candies I've ever seen!

I actually ordered quite a few books, but I'm mostly excited for "Love in Vein" by Poppy Z. Brite. If your into darker literature I highly recommend it. :)

5-8 business days usually doesn't include weekends or holidays, unfortunately. So that means longer than 5-8 actual days, depending on what day of the week you ordered from Amazon. However, if you ordered from the Amazon company itself and not from an independent seller, that usually means that your package will arrive within the expected delivery dates. If you are a student with a .edu email address, you can try Amazon Prime for free, I think maybe for about a year? If you are a full time student, prime is great for ordering your books, because you get free two day shipping, which is a bonus when you really need a book for a class and you forgot to order it early. You can also often find sellers of used book that will be offered for Prime two day shipping. The used books are often in great condition, sometimes with helpful highlights or notes! And they are often cheaper. Prime also has a lot of free instant streaming movies or television available, but nothing comparable to the content available on Hulu or Netflix. There's not a huge selection of popular movies, but there are some great gems available. Also, if you have a kindle, I think there's a Prime library that you can check out one free book a month from a list that includes a lot of books, including some bestsellers.

If you buy from Amazon very often, the cost of Prime could be less than the cost you spend on shipping over the course of a year. Otherwise, I don't think it's worth it.

I second everything Bright said.

We got Prime through school and you can "gift" it to a few other people for free which is pretty cool. We use it a lot (probably a legitimate cause of our spending getting a bit out of control.) I love Prime for tv (mostly BBC) but they can be annoying and mysterious drop that second season you just got to (talking to you Copper!)

Recently Prime has become a bit less reliable, with the addition of so many different sellers, not everything gets out at the exact time and Prime doesn't guarantee it's the cheapest (usually within a few dollars but not always.) I like subscribe and save for things like dog food and such, which has become very expensive recently and S&S saves an extra 5-20%.

Word of caution: They recently started adding tax if you live in the state they're shipping from. So in Pa, since everything is based around Carlisle or Philly, we get hit with tax A LOT. Super annoying when the tax eats the savings so we end up scouring stores for what we need.
