husker
Hello everyone! This is Matt reporting live from the newsroom, which is badly damaged due to yesterday's mishaps. Don't worry, we made sure that Austin is far away. The results from the Alabriss Bracket have just came in, so let's get right to it. First off, we have Kiko Lake against Darigan Citadel. Now, the Kikos and the Minions faced each other yesterday, and while they were hoping for a better performance today, the match mirrored yesterday's game. Darigan was able to take everything except Slushie Slinger. The Minions have definitely proved that they're still a powerful contender for the Cup, and they don't show any signs of letting up soon. Elsewhere, former champions Lost Desert and Kreludor went head to head today for the first time. Lost Desert started strong in the beginning, but during the second half, they lost steam and Kreludor was eventually able to catch up, winning the game with a close score of four to five. Kreludor was also able to take the remaining side games, cleanly sweeping Lost Desert on all fronts. Kreludor has been having an on and off season right now, sweeping twice and being close to swept just as often. For the last matchup of this bracket we have Meridell versus Mystery Island. Mystery Island, despite placing in second last year, has not been doing well. If they can't fix their problems, they might be headed back to the lower tiers. Meridell however, shows no sign in letting up. They were able to obtain their first sweep of the season, cleanly sweeping the Natives in all games. We were able to get in a few questions with Meridell's Captain "Wizard" Windelle about their performance this season. Mr. Windelle! How do you feel about your team's performance this year? I think we're doing great so far! I'm really pleased with our first sweep, and hopefully we'll be able to keep up this good momentum in the days the come. That's great! Now that you've experienced what some of the teams are like this season, who do you think will be your biggest competition? Definitely Darigan. They're the only team so far that was able to take more than one win from us. I'm looking forward to playing against them again. Awesome! One last question before you go, fans want to know how is Ethel Boortz fitting in? She's fitting in really well! We've all bonded together, and that's one of the reasons why we're doing so well this year. We expect great things to come from her. As do we, well I guess this is it. Thanks for your time and good luck today! Now let's head over to Lydia who is in the field with the results from the... Power goes out in the studio and all becomes silent. [shouting in the background] What is going on!? Security! Static sound fills the room and the video feed turns into a camera focused on the sunrise. It zooms out... Good Morning Neopia! I am Austin and I am live in the outskirts of the Altador Colosseum to give you the latest Altador Cup news and scores. We'll first start off in the Minitheus bracket, where we have some breaking news this morning. After last night's incident, where Haunted Woods defender "Brains" Mortigan bit Maraquan defender Lamelle Turow, the Altador Athletics Committee has issued warnings to both sides for "foul play." The AAC, who in recent years has been very strict about on-field incidents, said in a public statement that "it is necessary for us to protect the integrity of the game. Let this be not just a warning to the two teams, but a warning to all teams. Foul play will not be tolerated in this year's Cup." We'll provide further details of the story as it unfolds. Now, let's get onto yesterday's results. Even through all the drama, the Maraqua versus Haunted Woods match was a fantastic one. The Zombies were able to put a scare into their undersea rivals, as they walked away with a six to five victory. The Mermaids gave up their one point lead midway through the second half when star striker, Zo Junior, tied it up with a dazzling shot with the Faerie Yooyu. The Zombies then proceeded to tack on another goal just seconds after tying the game when Junior stole the ball and put another in the back of the net. Though emotions ran high through the whole match, Junior reminded all the fans, "You know, it's just a game. At the end of the day, it's all just a game. Things got heated, but we respect the Maraquan team and look forward to another matchup." Krawk Island took on Terror Mountain last night, in what proved to be an exciting match. The Pirates and Chillers were tied at five apiece late in the second half. With Terror Mountain on a fastbreak, Krawk Island defender, Zayle Sufhaux, made an excellent tackle to regain possession for the Pirates. He then passed it to rising star, Ealyn Hawkshanks, who put the yooyu into the net to secure the victory for Krawk Island. When asked about his game-changing tackle after the game, Sufhaux mentioned, "Aye! It probably be the best tackle of me career. In such a close game, me like how it turned it around. Arrrr!" The Fossils continued their winning ways with another win over Brightvale. Tyrannia ran away with the game early with three goals from Loryche before the half. The Wizards made it somewhat interesting in the second half, as they were able to make it a one point game with under one minute to play. Tyrannia had all the answers though, as they shut the game out like the meteors shut out the dinosa- [mumbling from the side] Wait, what? Too soo- I can't what? You're just some guy I gave a camera to, you can't tell me wha- Ohhh, it's offensive? Oh wow... errrrrrr... My apologies, folks, we're having some... technical difficulties. Let's now move to the Vaeolus bracket. Altador continued their dominating ways with a huge win for the second time in a row against the Robots of Virtupets. Altador took command of the game early and never looked back, winning eight to five. Altador has yet to score less than seven points in a game thus far. Could this really be the year the hosts hoist the Cup? Roo Island remains undefeated, taking down Moltara for the second time this Cup. Roo Island kept control of a tight match and ultimately won five to four. Roo Island is looking to seriously compete for the top spot in the Cup for the first time since Altador Cup III. Moltara has now dropped their fourth straight game in this year's Cup. In their slow start, the Magmas are only getting a 35% shot on target ratio, a drastic change from last year's 67%. Shenkuu rebounded very well after getting swept by the Rooligans, by ousting the Faeries six to five. Shenkuu is looking to get back into a groove after being swept twice in a row. Shenkuu, while relatively disappointing so far, is used to starting slow and turning their fortunes around late cup. Could the Ninjas put together another magical run again this season? Yesterday's win could be a great start for them. Next, let's move onto the matches to wat- The screen suddenly changes to the newsroom. Hello everyone! Matt again! It seems we have the situation under control. Don't worry, agents are being deployed to the source of the hack as we speak. Now, let's continue with the matches to watch for the day. Kreludor and Kiko Lake will be facing off today. Both of them are in the middle of their bracket, and they'll be looking to hopefully rise up in the standings. With only a few days left in the bracket, every win counts! Screen abruptly switches back No one cuts me off! Greetings, Neopia, I'm Austin and I am back to give you the rest of the matches for today. Next we have the Zombies of Haunted Woods take on the Chillers of Terror Mountain. While both teams are near the bottom of the bracket, this is a very intriguing matchup. The Zombies were able to snag their first Yooyuball win of the season yesterday. If they plan to stay in contention for the Cup, today will be a big chance at points for the former champs. Terror Mountain, on the other hand, will be trying to avoid staying at the bottom of the pack. Last but not least, we have Faerieland versus Virtupets. With Virtupets struggling recently, Faerieland have a faerie good chance at picking up some points today. The Faeries have been able to get wins in the past two days, while Virtupets has struggled remarkably. If Virtupets wants to prevent falling in dead last, they'll need to pick up a win in this one. This should be a great game to watch. And that concludes our segment. Thank you for joining us, Neopia. Stay classy. ~Ğǿǿmy~
...How is Kreludor ahead of Meridell now in the Brackets? Doesnt make sense to me.
voteforpedro333
I haven't been taking the stats all that seriously because of that. It's probably meant to make more sense after a second round when teams have been shuffled around more but still. Not terribly happy with LD's performance. It seems that none of last year's top contenders have really dropped, save for MI. It sucks that we'll be at a point disadvantage when we go into the second round but if we really aim to show our skills then we should be able to recover. Eventually.
