kyedigsme
Anybody have anything that they'd like to rant about? Pet-peeves, unfairness, the stupidity of some people, etc? I had a particularly frustrating experience at the grocery store the other week that's been on my mind. I was next in line at the check-out, putting my groceries on the conveyor belt. There was a girl in her late teens/early twenties (around my age) in front of me, with plenty of makeup, platinum blonde hair, and new acrylic nails. A guy of about the same age was at the end of the lane bagging her groceries. The guy was friendly and flirty with the girl, and was taking great care in packing the bags. He said goodbye to her with a smile as she left. Enter me. He doesn't look at me, and he doesn't say a word. He throws all of my groceries into the bags, crushing items, and he doesn't double-bag any of the heavy bags. He ignores my thank you as I'm leaving. Now, being the person I am, I begin to wonder if he (1) decided that I was too unattractive to deserve being treated courteously (I've always had low self-esteem), or (2) noticed my wedding ring and thought there was no need to acknowledge me since I already have a husband. Whether either of these assumptions were accurate, I'll never know, but it does bring up the question of where customer service has gone. It's simply standard practice to treat everyone with at least the same level of courtesy, and it's unfair to base how well a customer is taken care of on looks or preconceived ideas. Okay, I've had my say. Now everyone else can vent their frustrations :D
Duskitty
People like this: "Oh, you're autistic/have Aspergers? Lol, you're a retard who can't think without the help of a machine." "Oh, you're a schizophrenic? Get away from me, you psycho serial killer!" etc etc etc. khaos
~Xandria
OP: Ugh. I am so very sorry you were treated that way! Their really isn't great customer service anywhere you go nowadays.... but for him to be flat out rude and ignore you, how pathetic! Please don't let it take a hit to your self esteem though. I think it's safe to assume it's not because he found you unattractive (but even if he did, who cares what he thinks, right?) More than likely it's just his ego. He wanted this girl to find him attractive and since (I'm assuming she flirted back?) his ego was getting flattered. It's a good possibility that he saw your wedding ring and knew he would not get any attention or flirting from you, so why bother having common courtesy? (in his mind) Either way, I'm sorry you were treated like that. Duski: I have a very close friend who is also autistic. It makes me furious when people make assumptions on subjects they know nothing about. These idiots have never took the initiative to understand the illness or to read up on it. :/ I personally cannot stand racist people, homophobiacs, or religious people who shove their beliefs down everyones throats. I also know a few pathological liars, and even though I'm aware it's an illness, sometimes it goes to such an extreme that is deeply saddening. This is from personal experience of my boyfriends father, but I won't go into details.
karmacow
That reminds me of a discussion about The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, where someone claimed that Lisbeth Salander was retarded. I don't know how anyone could think that. Apparently it's a common misconception that autism=retardation :rolleyes_anim: And this is after the legendary movie, Rainman. Naturally there are different kinds of intelligence and most of us are stupid about something.
khaos
The one and only thing I want to rant about is the stupidity of most kids ages 8 - 14 in this generation. Nowadays, you see 10 year olds talking about explicit things and cursing and thinking they're cool for liking and saying those things. Also, there's the fact that little kids are playing M games like Call of Duty and Grand Theft Auto, which encourage said explicit things. Now, I'm not saying that if you play those games you'll get all violent and stuff. But those games contain nudity and other things that 9 year olds should not be exposed to. I hear someone once about his job at an arcade, and he was organizing a birthday party for 8 year olds. He got them games like Mario Bros and other E games, and when the kids arrived, they were complaining because they didn't have the games they wanted. He asked the kids what they wanted, and they replied with Grand Theft Auto. if you were too lazy to read all that its basically about little kids of this generation exposing themselves to explicit things and bragging about them

You know why? Because Mario Bros is freaking awesome. :D also because I hate first-person games where it's actually like you're running around, because I can't see what's behind me and I freak out when something hits me; I was playing Halo 3 with my cousins on an Xbox and my cousins would always shoot me from behind. T~T Actual conversation that went on during the game: Me: How do I switch weapons again? Cousin 1 (Alexander): You press that button on the top while holding the X button (or something like that) Me: Okay... HEY, WHY DID I JUST DIE??!?! Cousin 2 (Lucas): Alexander sniped you from that rock when you were standing still. Me: Alexander, you know I suck at this! Give me a chance! Alexander: Alright, fine, jeez. Me: Thank you. Now I can- ALEXANDER, DID YOU KILL ME AGAIN? Alexander: ...maybe? Lucas: *trying not to laugh in background* Me: STOP KILLING ME! I HAVEN'T EVEN GOTTEN PAST THE SPAWN POINT! c: That went on for a while.
Naamah D.
Personally, I think it's absolute idiocy when people blame gaming on real world violence. Rated M means Mature, right? Sure I wouldn't want a 5 or 10 year old playing rated M games, but I think kids 12 and up should be able to as long as they have maturity and responsibility. What really makes me mad is this whole "geek girl" stuff. Why don't you just enjoy gaming without making yourself an object? That's worse then gender stereotypes with gaming. I was on a website and some guy just had the nerve to say that female gamers just play Farmville on Facebook. Who in the right of their mind would think or say that? I'm a girl who plays lots of different games. I play Halo, Call of Duty, Skyrim, and other "male-oriented" games. For the love of Lilith, who cares these days? Games are unisex! I still hate Grand Theft Auto for moral reasons, but come on, guys! Duskitty
Catarah954
I would like to rant about people who are inconsiderate, rude, and loud but I'm sure everyone has experienced these types of peoples. But urgh they make me want to furiously punch pillows -.- @kyedigsme If only public slapping was appropriate and allowed.
emkatrine
I am SO sick of tired (at the moment) of people in the gym, who apparently do not come to work out at all! They just sit on the machines and look around and play with their phones/ipods etc. I'm like - GET WORKING or GET OUT ! They hawk the machines and they make me feel uncomfortable. :P
