I really like the name.

Recommended Posts

So the story is like this.

I wished to have this name for my pet, however the name is already taken.

Refusing to add any additional characters inside the name, i rushed to check the pet who lucky enough to get it earlier than me.

And the owner had left neopets a long, long time ago. And i was thinking "this guy had been gone. why should he have the pet name?"

the question is, is there any chance i get the name?

for example, Dazzle (taken by a blue Chia). i really like the name, and i wanted it. Plus, the owner seems will not come back anymore.

Or someone else gets into the account and sells it. Which is against the rules and no matter how desperate you are, don't do it.

My dumb brother got frozen that way. Someone took a pet with a name he liked and he bought it, got caught, lost his all of his accounts, and now whines at me all the time.

The only way to get a name is when it gets purged.

TNT purges (deletes) old accounts periodically. It happens once in a while and usually they purge a huge number of accounts over the period of a month or so. An account with nothing on it and is not used for 18 months is likely to be purged , but an account with Trophies and good painted pets will not get purged.

ETA - NINJA'd

All you can do is hope TNT does another account purge in the near future.

No, you cant get the name unless the owner gets frozen. Or unless the owner self-freezes him/her self.

This isn't true. Pets on frozen accounts are not made available until the account is purged.

can we request TNT to purge certain account?

because everything mentioned (no trophies, no painted pets), they really dont have it :\

It's highly doubtful that they would personally delete accounts to assist you. It's just luck, unfortunately. Purging accounts is actually a very long process, done in a certain order. According to JellyNeo;

During a purge, inactive accounts are deleted from the servers over a period of several days or weeks. This is done automatically by a computer program, so it can happen twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week -- there's no member of TNT sitting in the office, pressing a button to delete each account. As a result, the speed with which accounts are deleted is exactly the same during "working" hours as it is in the middle of the night.

Also, I bet that there are thousands of users like you who feel they could be great owners of the name and that they deserve it. Many probably request it. They stalk certain accounts with good names; they wait.

There is no instant purge. All you can do is wait patiently until the next purged, whenever that will be. Even then, you must hope that the user hadn't attended to the account in a very, very long time. They don't desire deleting accounts which may even be a trace active. It's first come first serve. You may notice a lot of new users have Neopets or usernames which appear like they should have been made years ago - they are actually re-created accounts people took advantage of once the account had been purge. You can check the Neopet's boards, because some users actually "stalk" good named accounts.

From Nickledeons own terms;

http://www.neopets.com/terms.phtml

Currently, our policy is to terminate any account that has not been active for eighteen months.

But I'm fairly certain that they actually may wait longer.

The most common method of name-stalking is to keep an account's userlookup as your browser's homepage. If you log on one day to find that the lookup has been replaced by a message reading "Sorry, nobody by this name exists in Neopia. Try another username in the search box below!", you'll know the account has been deleted. Assuming the name fits the usual rules (longer than five letters, and not offensive, religious or political in any way), you're free to create an account by the same name as soon as it disappears.

thank you for the answer :)

and i had stalked that name for about, 2 or 3 years. reality check here :(

Well, to be honest, there's still a good chance it'll be purged in the next year or two! I mean, they DO delete, it just seems like it's seldom ever to me. I haven't stalked any name but I know because some of my old NeoFriends still have their accounts and they've been untouched for years. xD I wish you luck. Definitely keep an eye on it, I bet you'll figure that one out first. :) Just don't spread it to much (the name.) People can be mean.
