lovedwallflower Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 that the forgotten shore giving out krawk morphing potions and draik eggs is also a really good thing. *ducks shower of tombola junk* i agree and will add that whenever something rly expensive deflates, even if i dnt want it, i rejoice a little. neopets is about rich and poor players already, i dont see why we have to take pains to widen the gap between them. another unpopular opinion which has more or less already been said: when i see an *ONLY* np customised pet i respect that owner so much more than if he uses nc. i only use np and customisation for Willens and john_lemmonn has cost me millions (and i still the need the hat in my sig which costs half a mill.) im sorry but it takes harder work to do that rather than just fork our RW money, which anyone can do. GuardianAwesome Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 - I like wigs... I guess it's a more unpopular opinion than I thought. :P - I hate species-specific wearables. They're gorgeous, but make NP customization that much harder and limited. - Eventide... not for me, at least. - Simpler customizations are better than "pile-on-as-many-NC-items-in-the-color-scheme-as-you-can" customizations. Welcome Back Apathy Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 Whoever said they don't see the appeal of certain names, I'll agree there. I don't see what's so great about having a pet named "kvf"--oooh, it's three letters. I do like naming them pronounceable things, though, and without numbers. All three of my pets have pronounceable names, although "uber_music_faerie" has been outdated for a little while now since there are no longer uber faeries in Neopia. As for NC, I think NC is a great idea. Which actually seems to be the unpopular opinion XD I just don't like that pretty much the only things you can get with NC are ways to customize your pet. After a while, you just have a closet full of stuff you're never going to use again. I guess that's my unpopular opinion--I like the idea of customization, but ONLY TO A POINT. Also, this isn't an unpopular opinion among avatar collectors, but it totally is around here--it is TOTALLY worth ten million to buy yourself an avatar. Quote
Leila Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 It breaks my heart to see people hating on NC customizations lol. All my pets are customization largely with NC because those all seemed to fit better. (Seriously, try to make a witch customization with just NP items and show me how far you get. Especially with a species whose Halloween color is not witch-themed.) And I *did* work hard for these customizations--first of all, I worked to pay for NC, and secondly, I've spent literally days' worth of time on the NC boards to find the perfect items for my pets. Also, whoever said that Eventide looks like a bad PS gradient - I LOLed. It's so very true. Quote
Lady Kakata Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 I don't hate on NC but I wish there were prettier things for people with just NP. And yes, re-releasing since some items are stupidly expensive (New Years in Shenkuu/Faerieland, Bag of Bottled Faeries, Cherry Blossom Tree for Neohomes) would be a great idea Quote
sweetly_sour Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 -I am sick of people painting white/brown/biscuit pets (kacheeks mostly) simply for the sake of customization. Why settle for a neutral when there are many neat colors and species out there! -You shouldn't have to buy your pet (no draiks or krawks) -I am an owner, so my pets come first. Collecting avatars/trophies and building galleries and shops is fine so long as your pets are fed and delighted! Quote
Angeló Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 another opinion of mine : NP sinks are a really good thing Quote
sweetly_sour Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 NP sinks are a really good thing In what ways? I tend to steer clear of gambles/sinks... Quote
youngrace Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 eep, unpopular opinions. i have a few: - i don't care about UCs. i actually think a lot of the converted pets are cuter. - i don't really like draiks - i hate trolls (especially when posters are genuinely looking for help) - i like NC. the thing is, TNT has to earn their money some way, and really Premium and NC mall are the only ways they can do it. if np items were just as good as nc items, then that would be a huge loss of cashflow (and it's not like neopets is raking in the money anyway, according to their fiscal reports) so if it means having neopets around longer, i don't mind having the nc mall ^_^ Quote
Angeló Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 In what ways? I tend to steer clear of gambles/sinks... in a way that it helps decrease inflation ... if everyone were running around with several million NP's then things would be much worse than they are already Quote
Cassia Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 Hmmm, some of mine: ~I really don't like krawks. Before, I didn't like draiks either, but now I guess they've grown on me... ~I don't like RW pets, unless it's something that can actually be used as a name for a pet in real life (for example, Star is okay, but, I really don't get what's so great about having a pet named Blender) ~I think that really elaborate pet applications are pointless, because chances are, you won't get the pet anyways. Quote
Lady Lyuba Posted April 5, 2012 Posted April 5, 2012 The Lab Ray just gives your pets Post Truamatic Stress Disorder and go ahead and use it if you want to torture your pets but I won't. I like customisation and I'm the only veteran who was affected the opposite direction when the site change happened. Quote
LillytheGrundo Posted April 5, 2012 Posted April 5, 2012 A few of mine. ~I love customization ~I love Chomby's and Grundo's ~I dislike krawks, draiks, and Kacheeks. ~I don't hate on NC. I think for an adult it's fine. But I think it makes the game seem really unfair for kids with parents that won't let them have it. ~I dislike beggars. I worked really hard (with no NC!) to get where I am in Neo. Just because I have stuff now doesn't mean I should give stuff to others for free. Also... notsosureimafanofrestocking. :-) Quote
Kaana Posted April 5, 2012 Posted April 5, 2012 - There's something about people who customise their maraquan, baby and mutant pets originally that make we want to hug them. - NC is tricky. It sucks for the people who can't have it, sucks for the people who want it but can't afford it, sucks for the people who would rather not have it, but get cards for birthdays/christmas and then use them and look all hypocritical (like me) and sucks for the people who MUST have that item that ends up costing them hundreds of dollars. However, it keeps neopets running. - Kacheeks are cute. - Draiks are nice, but overrated. - Krawks aren't bad looking. - Elaborate pet applications are fine if that is what you want to do. - The lab ray is one of the best investments I have ever made. sweetly_sour Posted April 5, 2012 Posted April 5, 2012 in a way that it helps decrease inflation ... if everyone were running around with several million NP's then things would be much worse than they are already Good point, I guess I never really considered that. What do Neo-gajillionaires do with their np anyhow? Quote
Lady Lyuba Posted April 10, 2012 Posted April 10, 2012 I thought the OP's preference for buying clothes over PBs was interesting. I mean, the whole reason I want PBs and MPs for my pets is to complete their customization. To me, it's just another part of the outfit. And as an NC addict, I just don't get the hating on the NC Mall. Yes, it sucks if you can't buy NC. Yes, most of the NC items are nicer than the NP items, and I wish they made some better NP wearables. But think about it logically--the whole purpose of NC is for them to be able to make more revenue off players. What good what it do them if there were NP wearables just as nice as NC items? So maybe my unpopular opinion is that the NC Mall isn't rubbish. 100% agreed. Another unpopular opinion I have is that customisation and 2.0 did NOT ruin Neo for me as an old player - in fact it did the opposite. I play Neo far more now than I did before the conversion. I think I already said that. Anyway....... - I actually like wigs, most of my female pets wear them due to the hairstyles I give them in my own designs of their characters. If I can find a wig and outfit that looks similar to what I designed, it's theirs. Though I wish your pet could wear a hat AND a wig at the same time. - I also actually like the NC mall and am an NC addict, agreeing with the person I quoted above. - I don't like baby pets - Avatars are overrated - Eventide is gorgeous - Jetsams are awesome - Games are a good way to earn NPs Quote
GuardianAwesome Posted April 10, 2012 Posted April 10, 2012 Being bad at games isn't really a good excuse for not having the NP you want anymore, with all the different strategies out there. Converted Faerie pets aren't as hideous as everyone makes them out to be. Just because they don't have the poses anymore doesn't mean they look terrible. Quote
woodnymph Posted April 10, 2012 Posted April 10, 2012 I don't like that TNT seems to be putting all of it's resources into NC items, it's unfair to kids who can't buy stuff for one reason or another. Though i do buy quite a bit myself i would like to see a lot more effort put into np items. I love my girls to bits, particularly my xwee, who i have had for almost 7 years, so it peeves me a bit when i see pets being traded on the boards for their colours or abilities. I have 2 pet hates. The people you see over and over again at auctions buying up expensive items for little np then re-selling 2 minutes later at twice what they paid. I can't ever beat them at auctions and i think they are responsible for keeping the prices up. Often they seem to get stuff like Draik eggs for way below it's value, possibly from younger or inexperienced players. One tried to bully me into parting with my draik egg. :grrr: The other is arrogant people on the neoboards, who, when you go asking for help post remarks about how stupid you are for not knowing the answer and what a stupid question to ask. In my opinion the only stupid question is the one you don't ask cos you'll never know the answer :sad02: Rant over. i feel better now :cap: Quote
