Aalnius
Hi everyone, so i was having a chat with someone and i was talking about how i have been playing neopets for ages and they were saying about things i had missed out on like plots, hubrid nox's death etc but then they mentioned something that i was wondering if someone could shed a bit more light on. they said that some people managed to find a way to create any item they wanted on neopets using some sort of glitch (which is now fixed) but apparently the items they created were things like MSPP (TCG) and other rare items many that you need for avatars and if you buy one of these or trade it or anything then you'll get frozen or can get frozen just for having it even if you had nothing to do with the cheating. so i was wonderign if there was anyway to tell them apart from real ones as im pretty stupid and even though im milesoff having enough np for any of these items atm i don't really want to get to the point where i can afford to buy one or collat one then get given a dodgy one and get frozen for it and also does anyone have a list of the items that were created so i could be a bit more suspicious when looking to get one of the items.. Angeló
to be honest i never heard of this before
Saxen
I've heard of this sort of thing in user shops - there was an instance where someone bought a 'Baby Paint Brush' from a shop which upon viewing their inventory turned out to be a rotten sandal. I wasn't aware this was happening with super rare items D: The only thing I can suggest is stick to the ALP for most lends and when attempting to obtain the items they don't have, make sure you talk to someone who has borrowed from your target lender before with no complications. sakura_blossom221
I've never heard of that before, but then again, I just recently came back to Neopets as well.
Lauren_x
That sounds crazy! I really hope that's not true as I plan to borrow these items (way off) in the futre too :O
annikarose
The only thing I've heard about is items from old accounts. When people have hotmail or yahoo accounts they don't use, those accounts will be deleted. So, hackers would recreate those email addresses, then type them into Neo to see if there were any accounts associated with it. A lot of Neo accounts got hacked into, and so the market got flooded with extra rare items... and these items can get you frozen. There's also no way to tell if you are buying from somebody using that kind of scam, unfortunately.
LizyMarie
It seems like an easy scam to create, however. And it's unfortunate that it happened. But what Saxen mentioned about someone buying an item in a shop, and it turns out to be a fake. Well, that's just a simple coding strip that can disguise any item in your shop. And the person buying would have to be pretty gullible to buy it without really looking or reading the extra text. And even though I get how to do it, I swear on my enter-relative-here's grave that I have not, and will not, cheat, scam, or lie to my fellow neopians. :3 (But I will always cheat at Monopoly! HA!) Kaana
When I first came back I stumbled upon a forum where people were talking about various amounts of Chokoto(sp?) TGC's they'd hacked, scammed, etc. Someone had 30. So yes, it does happen, and the best rule seems to be if something sounds too good to be true, just investigate a little first. Good luck in your avatar collecting :
xSummer
something important to do is too save the emails of the person saying they are lending to you or whatever. when i was scammed i didn't have the neomails so i couldn't prove that hey i had no idea. I save them now and get to know the people. That's all you can do.
tatertawt24
that's unfair. how would you know or not. they could tell you it was real and you would buy it and then get frozen? whack :shiftyeyes_anim: tnt sucks sometimes
pwndbymalakh
Thank you for the head's up, I guess I'll just stick to ALP for the expensive avatars, and double-check the shop item text! This topic has been edited by a member of staff (Spritzie) because of a violation of the forum rules. Please do not bump old topics. Please check your user inbox to see if you have been contacted regarding this incident, then review our rules.Per the reason above, this topic has been LOCKED.
