CAV of Gang Green Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 Odds are I will be up until about 2 AM until I decide not to piss off my father and go to bed, since I still don't want to put up with any nonsense. Quote
livvy Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 Ha, good mindset, Spritzie. I completely understand that. Good idea CAV. The longer both of you can keep your cool, the better. =] Quote
CAV of Gang Green Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 I barely talked to him since Tuesday. I barely want to bother. Quote
livvy Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 *pats CAV* I'll be praying for you. I know you may not think much of it, but it can't hurt, can it? Quote
Seliphra Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 Me as well...it can't hurt anyways..... Either way *hugs* My closet is always open. I'll even throw you a sandwich from time to time XD Quote
antiaircraft Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 That sounds like an awesome closet Seliphra. :P Mind if I join you in there with some cookies? Perfectly normal, healthy cookies? :shiftyeyes_anim: The option to have silent updates to Firefox sounds good...I'll look forward to that 'one awesome update' :) Now that it's pretty close to release, I will likely install the FF4 Beta soon, possibly this weekend. Firefox no longer needs to be 100% functional for me, once this report I'm working on is done. I can handle the possibility of a few conflicts and glitches. The FF3 Beta never gave me any problems. Whoo! xD Beta 10 is slated for sometime late this month (or early February), and the first release candidate should be done not too long after that. So we're gunning for a February release, meaning things should be relatively stable by now. Yeah Mkay. Whatever you say AA. Note that I saw the whole topic... Right. Congrats on your win, Theo and Livvy! You guys are amazing. :king: I have started using FF again instead of IE after I figured out a few kinks that were making it difficult. I had this one program installed that was making it work slowly, but now that that program is shifted to my dad's computer, I'm all good! :D Thanks Divya. xD *grumbles at clueless software makers distributing crapware that interferes with Firefox* I don't like FF. I guessed CAV, but: ;) (Seriously though, is there anything specific you have against Firefox? 'cos I can poke around and see if anyone's working on it.) Quote
CAV of Gang Green Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 I guessed CAV, but: ;) (Seriously though, is there anything specific you have against Firefox? 'cos I can poke around and see if anyone's working on it.) I just tried it and it wasn't the right fit for me, dispite how awesome the icon is there. Quote
Tyler. Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 I prefer Chrome, it's fast and shiny, very shiny Quote
antiaircraft Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 Firefox is still far more powerful than Chrome when it comes to the underlying engine and extensibility, which is why I still use it. Firefox 4 is also actually on par or faster than Chrome 9 in many areas. ;) Ah, well CAV, what pixel size are Windows icons? I have the SVG version which I can export at any bitmap size. ;) Edit: Figured out the size CAV, please hold. Quote
livvy Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 <----Theo's words :eh: <--- me I tried Chrome, but it gets disoriented when its zoom is anything but 100% which is highly unhelpful for RSing. Quote
antiaircraft Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 Livvy, I'm basically saying: Firefox 4 has more oomph than Chrome, and is about as fast (at least for my use cases). I can make the Firefox icon in the right size and format for CAV. Like so: http://www.masteryofthearts.co.cc/random/fx.ico Hmm... it seems ICO doesn't support alpha transparency though. So the shadow isn't as smooth as it should be. *grumble* Edit: Scratch that last statement, I just screwed up the indexing pallet. The image should be fine now. Quote
Domino Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 I use Chrome. FF is too slow for me right now, but maybe with the update? I like my pretty Chrome themes (FF themes for Macs are in scarce supply or just don't work quite right). They both have their benefits...FF has a HUGE number of extensions that are great, and aren't available in the same way as with Chrome, although I make do. And Safari. Ugh. I dunno. I can't deal with it. :D Quote
antiaircraft Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 I've never used the Firefox theme system much myself. I've always stuck with its default theme, because it integrates almost perfectly with the built-in GTK theming on GNOME in Linux (basically I have themes for my whole operating system). But I can see why the glitches would drive you crazy (even slight blips irritate me to no end). Luciana Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 Hey AA, do you work for FF or something? The way you talk about it makes it sound like you do. Quote
Spritzie Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 I like Chrome because it's simple. I don't need, or want, lots of bells and whistles. So it's perfect for me. My husband will use nothing BUT Firefox, because he likes lots of fancy stuff to play with. Oh and as usual, the alarm thing continued. I woke up at 5:35 this morning. My alarm goes off at 5:40. :laughingsmiley: Quote
-Ryan Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 I like I because... Oh wait, I don't like IE... Lol. xD I didn't have to set my alarm today. 8D Quote
livvy Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 If by "work for" you mean "get paid by" then no, AA doesn't work for FF. He's just something of a coding and development aficionado. Spritzie, I agree with you (of course) on the fancy bells and whistles. The only thing I didn't like about Chrome was that it got disoriented when I zoomed out so I couldn't RS properly. Quote
-Ryan Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 What does aficionado mean? -curious and wants to know how AA is connected to FF- Quote
Spritzie Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 I don't zoom in or out, so I wouldn't have noticed that. I think my favorite thing about Chrome, is the thumbnails of your most visited sites (or whatever you want to set them as.) when you open a new tab. I don't have to look through my bookmarks, or use my bookmark bar. Quote
Domino Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 I mean, I guess it doesn't really matter which one I like best, (although it is Chrome), because I use all of them. Now that I think about it, using 3 different browsers at once is a little weird. Why don't I just keep them all in the same window? Hmm. But my favorite part of chrome is...it launches really quickly. So I don't have to wait like....the extra 30 seconds for FF :laughingsmiley: Quote
Spritzie Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 Firefox doesn't agree with my work computer. I have too many work related programs running. Firefox would be great on my new netbook, but now I'm too attached to Chrome. Quote
-Ryan Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 Hey, what was with that weird board in another language? I posted on it right before I left and now it seems to be gone. xD My parents won't let me switch to FF. <.<' Quote
Spritzie Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 It was someone spamming the boards, with ads and nonsense. So it was removed. (It wasn't a introduction post in a different language.) Quote
-Ryan Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 Ahhh. I really need to learn a second language, or how to use Google translator. Quote
Spritzie Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 Chrome offers to translate pages in other languages. So I can quickly tell if something is wrong or not. Quote
