OOOOH SANTA CLAUS! -hohoho- a secret santa would be a good idea. How would that work though? We randomly get PM by staff telling us who to send a present to on Neopets... or what? :P

Or by whoever organizes it. And obviously you would have to sign up for it. They wouldn't just randomly force you to give someone a present. =P

I would definitely participate, only if there is a np limit, like buy a present for under 5k np.

I don't want to go poor buying a secret santa present.

Okay, so, first of all, we need to hear back from TJ or CAV (he PMed TJ). Then I was thinking of organizing it myself, and putting a 10k limit on gifts. Anyone who wants to join, can. They'd just put their name in the topic. Then, I'd split them into two groups, and both Crystal and I would take half. Then, we'd PM all of them, and tell them who they have to get a present for. And since me and a few others are under 13, some would have to be in trades, and others could be sent directly.

Actually, I haven't PMed him just yet.

And why have a limit? If someone has enough to give someone a PB, let them. Remember that it's the thought that counts. If you have the money, then use the money. No real need for limits.

I'm horrible at finding gifts. I wouldn't know what to give. =\ Though it is a cool idea, and would be pretty nifty. =]

Simple. We make a topic where everyone participating says a little bit about their interests with Neo and what they could want. If possible, you can even talk about your dream pets, but don't count on getting an MP of course. :P

Then we do the drawing and people will be assigned to be the secret santa for someone. It's some raw ideas. We should make some ideas before I mention it to TJ.

Ah, the wonders of watching a determined bunch of people organise a fun activity. :P

AA, you just made an estimate. The ACTUAL freezing point of Kelvin is 273.15 K. GO HIGH SCHOOL CONCEPTUAL PHYSICS!

CAV, note my clear use of the word 'approximately' to cover my statement. ;) I did not have the precise value immediately available in my memory, therefore I did not claim to be providing absolutely precise data.

Sorry, that's just something I hold myself to extremely strictly. xD

Meh. In moments like those, I perfer to have the exact value, rather than an estimated one. Yes, I'm strange like that.

Heartwarming sight, isn't it Theo? ^_^

Actually, a random number generator would do quite well. There's a very simple one on my calculator - they're not difficult to use. You could just number the names and then use a random number generator to assign everyone a Santa.

Posted

Yes! I agree with Livvy...

You'd just have to do the number generation privately, that's all.

Or rather, whoever's organizing it could do it. But this topic would really be best moved to the Neopets section of the forums, if we can get the okay of the higher-ups.

Okay, I'm back, and I was thinking of the same thing as CAV. If somebody has enough Neopoints, let them get a PB.

So, as soon as we get the OK from TJ, I'm going to make the topic. Post in it if your entering, and then post also what you'd like. and CAV, if you haven't Pmed TJ yet, I'll do it myself. Though one quick question. Which one's TJ?

Something tells me that TJ will make the topic himself. If not, then yes, you make it. It was your idea.

I'll PM him now. And for future reference, TJ is Superfly.

Awesome.

So it's like, pretty darned cold here. And I'm in the south, so I can only imagine how cold it is up north... CAV, what was the high today in NY?

Posted

Um, not sure. It's 36 degrees right now, and wind chill makes it feel like 27. I can hardly tell because my radiator is on to the point that it's hot in my room. My radiator is either way too hot, or not on at all, and at all the most inconvienient moments.

Anyway, let me check......uh.....it doesn't say....

Actually, that's not too different from here. It's around 40-ish at the moment... but no such inconvenient wind chill, fortunately. And of course, 50 is cold in South Carolina. :P

Posted

Well, NY is infamous for that wind chill. It always makes things colder than they should be. Fortunately, I got used to it.

We barely get snow, but we get a lot of piercing cold that feels like daggers, and give you the sensation of hot AND cold at the same time.

Gotta go to bed for some reason. Don't know why I can't be up later...

Posted

Lol 40 is comfortable for me :laughingsmiley:

I don't know what I want for Christmas either. That'll actually apply both on Neo and real life. Hrm...

Super powers. I definitely want super powers for Christmas xD

Posted

I'll see what I can do about that, Will. ;)

40 is like, below freezing here. =P We're all wimps when it comes to cold. And snow? :laughingsmiley: If we get half an inch of snow the school board freaks out and cancels school.

Posted

We got a good foot of snow the other night. School was not cancelled. Heck, they didn't even cancel the school buses. I drove most of the way to the school I was teaching at that day through about eight inches of snow. That was our first real snowfall this year.

The worst part was having to get up early to shovel my way to the car to spend 10 minutes clearing the snow from it. Luckily, my husband came outside to help, or I would have been late for work.

I feel bad for you. Snow is something I look forward to every year.
