I always go to school in mid august and get out in late may/early June. The past two school years were interesting though, because during each we used up a lot of our emergency days, especially year before last, where they were debating keeping us an extra week.

It actually snowed 6 inches (it has never snowed, EVER) and we didn't get the day off. A lot of kids were marked as skipping school because they were afraid to drive on the iced over roads. One of my friends almost crashed from the ice :(

He won't tell you. He's very private about his location. :shiftyeyes_anim:

HI Angie! I've seen you a lot in the New Members Board. It's really just for new members to introduce themselves; not much conversation goes on there. Glad to have you join us.

Ryan, my friend's parents have that sign. It amuses me every time I see it. :P

Southeast USA. Good Luck guessing exactly where, because even if you would guess the exact town I wouldn't say if it was true.

Ryan, I'm wondering where the picture on the sign was taken. o.O

I only saw snow once. I never get to stay in a place where it snows.

When I finally saw snow, I thought that it was such a lie.

The whole snowflake thing is exaggerated, and any sort of amazing shape is only under a microscope :P It just looks like...the clouds have bad dandruff. Disgusting, but a good comparison.

I live in NH, we get lots of snow. And I just realized your little bio under your avatar says where you live, unless that's just a fake location you put in. My parent's just moved down there and they said the winter stunk this year.

We get out of school if there's even a hint of snow. The process goes something like this:

School Board Member: Mr. Chairman! Mr. Chairman!

Chairman: What?

School Board Member: I saw... *whimpers* I saw... A SNOWFLAKE!

Chairman: A SNOWFLAKE? Quick, call all schools! Everyone must be on lockdown! No one should be driving on these roads!

We sometimes get off when there is a rare rainstorm.

Yeah, that's how it SHOULD have been that day Livvy, but it started to really pour once the buses were already on their second load of students and some of the teachers were already there. They just didn't want to have to call everyone's parents to end school :/

@CC we've had to stay at school during T-Storms that generated tornadoes and shut the power off. The school board isn't afraid of a storm <_<

We don't get many tornadoes here... We do get a lot of tornado DRILLS though. "Everyone go out to the hall and put your head between your knees and cover your neck. No talking!" Excuse me, but if I'm about to die in my third story class with a tornado coming through, I want to be talking to my friend when I do. <_<

That was pretty bad of them, Noog. :eh: Snow in an area unused to snow is really dangerous. They should have bused everyone back home.

If only Bloomberg was that soft. He is so hard headed. He doesn't cancel school for ANYTHING. He did it twice last year, which is a new record.

One of the times, he saw that at 6 AM it was snowing heavy, so he cancelled school. By 10 AM, it had stopped, and the sun was shining bright. Jokes on him.

Tornado Drill! Everyone get on your knees, put your head between them, and kiss your butt goodbye :P That's what it always seemed like. XD

We don't have multiple story schools here. If they are multiple stories then its just because it's on a smaller lot of property.

We went from a big, colorful, spread out pod system (Don't ask me to explain; it was some weird schooling idea from the 70s) to a compact, dichromatic, prison-like 3 story building. The boring halls are bad, but the stairways... the stairways are Hellfish to an introvert of small stature.

I used to adore school. Then high school happened. But I've said all this before.

I just hope they get some artwork back on the walls. Not like, hung on the walls, but painted on it. Our pod hallways were covered with murals.

We used to have a superintendent from Alaska. He almost never cancelled school, delayed it. Anything. But this is Colorado, we get a lot of bad weather during the winter.
