-Ryan Posted August 2, 2010 Posted August 2, 2010 September? Some kids get to start that late? T-T Quote
IrishLiz Posted August 2, 2010 Posted August 2, 2010 That's probably too. There's too much extra time in the summer. :) Well I have some errands to run. I'll be back later! Quote
CAV of Gang Green Posted August 2, 2010 Posted August 2, 2010 Those must be some lucky kids to start school that late. Quote
IrishLiz Posted August 2, 2010 Posted August 2, 2010 haha, yeah here it's the 9th. Classes at the university start the 19th, but I have trainings, etc. starting the 9th. I'm going to TA a lab class this fall. Quote
Aidensmomma Posted August 2, 2010 Posted August 2, 2010 Yeah, Septmeber. Wow. I think kids around here start on the 25th or something. Not sure... I'm too old and my son's too young. Quote
Noog Posted August 2, 2010 Posted August 2, 2010 I can actually think of a friend at the moment who lives in Washington who starts school in October but doesn't get out until late June/early July. I, on the other hand, am going back in 2 weeks. Quote
Aidensmomma Posted August 2, 2010 Posted August 2, 2010 That's a really short school year! Kids here get out about mid June, that's before too many snow days are factored in too. Wish I could go back, but it's just too expensive right now. Quote
ΩCCΩ Posted August 2, 2010 Posted August 2, 2010 My school will start in the middle of September. Quote
Noog Posted August 2, 2010 Posted August 2, 2010 I always go to school in mid august and get out in late may/early June. The past two school years were interesting though, because during each we used up a lot of our emergency days, especially year before last, where they were debating keeping us an extra week. Quote
CAV of Gang Green Posted August 2, 2010 Posted August 2, 2010 I'm not sure when school starts for me. But I haven't gotten the books to work on my break homework. Quote
Aidensmomma Posted August 2, 2010 Posted August 2, 2010 I live in the North East and winters can be brutal so it's almost guaranteed that they have at least a few days tacked on the end. Quote
-Ryan Posted August 2, 2010 Posted August 2, 2010 I don't mean to revive a dead topic but this goes PERFECTLY fo that age discussion earlier. :P Quote
Noog Posted August 2, 2010 Posted August 2, 2010 It actually snowed 6 inches (it has never snowed, EVER) and we didn't get the day off. A lot of kids were marked as skipping school because they were afraid to drive on the iced over roads. One of my friends almost crashed from the ice :( Quote
Aidensmomma Posted August 2, 2010 Posted August 2, 2010 Ah hahaha!!! That poster is fantastic!! Do you live in the USA? What part if so? Quote
livvy Posted August 2, 2010 Posted August 2, 2010 He won't tell you. He's very private about his location. :shiftyeyes_anim: HI Angie! I've seen you a lot in the New Members Board. It's really just for new members to introduce themselves; not much conversation goes on there. Glad to have you join us. Ryan, my friend's parents have that sign. It amuses me every time I see it. :P Quote
Noog Posted August 2, 2010 Posted August 2, 2010 Southeast USA. Good Luck guessing exactly where, because even if you would guess the exact town I wouldn't say if it was true. Ryan, I'm wondering where the picture on the sign was taken. o.O Quote
CAV of Gang Green Posted August 2, 2010 Posted August 2, 2010 I live in New York City, and while it's brutal in the winter, there's almost no snow. Quote
ΩCCΩ Posted August 2, 2010 Posted August 2, 2010 I only saw snow once. I never get to stay in a place where it snows. Quote
Noog Posted August 2, 2010 Posted August 2, 2010 When I finally saw snow, I thought that it was such a lie. The whole snowflake thing is exaggerated, and any sort of amazing shape is only under a microscope :P It just looks like...the clouds have bad dandruff. Disgusting, but a good comparison. Quote
Aidensmomma Posted August 2, 2010 Posted August 2, 2010 I live in NH, we get lots of snow. And I just realized your little bio under your avatar says where you live, unless that's just a fake location you put in. My parent's just moved down there and they said the winter stunk this year. Quote
livvy Posted August 2, 2010 Posted August 2, 2010 We get out of school if there's even a hint of snow. The process goes something like this: School Board Member: Mr. Chairman! Mr. Chairman! Chairman: What? School Board Member: I saw... *whimpers* I saw... A SNOWFLAKE! Chairman: A SNOWFLAKE? Quick, call all schools! Everyone must be on lockdown! No one should be driving on these roads! Quote
Aidensmomma Posted August 2, 2010 Posted August 2, 2010 Haha! We're pretty used to snow here. My job actually gives us snow days if the weather is too bad too :) Have you never seen snow before?? Quote
ΩCCΩ Posted August 2, 2010 Posted August 2, 2010 We sometimes get off when there is a rare rainstorm. Quote
Noog Posted August 2, 2010 Posted August 2, 2010 Yeah, that's how it SHOULD have been that day Livvy, but it started to really pour once the buses were already on their second load of students and some of the teachers were already there. They just didn't want to have to call everyone's parents to end school :/ @CC we've had to stay at school during T-Storms that generated tornadoes and shut the power off. The school board isn't afraid of a storm <_< Quote
Aidensmomma Posted August 2, 2010 Posted August 2, 2010 Get off school or work? What area do you live in? Quote
