Spritzie Posted January 26, 2010 Posted January 26, 2010 Awww. lol Growing up in Colorado, I saw more than my fair share of snow. Quote
livvy Posted January 26, 2010 Posted January 26, 2010 Snow?? :woot: I live in SC, where snow is that really cold stuff that makes the roads all slippery and the grass crunchy. We never get any real snow. Quote
Spritzie Posted January 26, 2010 Posted January 26, 2010 My husband has been whining alllll winter so far. He wants to know where the blizzards are. I said... just you wait... it's not April/May yet. We can get blizzards that late into Spring. One year a few years ago, we had a huge snow storm in April, and May. The ice in parts of town didn't melt until July... and August in some places. But we also have 24 hour blizzards too. One year, we got like, 4 feet of snow within 24 hours. Highways across the state were shut down, emergency shelters opened up all over. Within 24 hours, it was like... Snow? What snow? That's why they say in Colorado: "If you don't like the weather, wait 5 minutes. It'll change." Quote
-Ryan Posted January 26, 2010 Posted January 26, 2010 Lol CC. And i've only seen ice once before, as well. I went on a 3 day feild trip to Prescott and it was snowing when we arrived. Try archery in the middle of a blizzard. xD I didn't expect it to be so cold and I went out with only a long sleeve, jeans, and slightly warm shoes. Dx Quote
livvy Posted January 26, 2010 Posted January 26, 2010 Ooh, archery! I like archery! I'm (almost) decent at it too. :P Quote
Spritzie Posted January 26, 2010 Posted January 26, 2010 Unfortunely, ice is all to common here. It'll be slightly warmer during the day... so it will be drizzling. Then by dark, it freezes. And there you go... a car hidden under a nice, solid sheet of ice. If it does that to a car... just imagine the nightmare of the roads... (aka... Black Ice) Plus, already this winter, I've had my car doors freeze shut, THREE times! Come on summer! Quote
livvy Posted January 26, 2010 Posted January 26, 2010 Don't get me wrong; it does get cold here, we just never get snow. We get ice. In fact, we used to have to put a blanket over the back door of our minivan, because otherwise it would freeze shut. (It's one of those electric doors you can't force manually either.) Quote
Domino Posted January 26, 2010 Posted January 26, 2010 Oh wow. We don't get snow. Or ice. Only frost and hail. :worried: Quote
Spritzie Posted January 26, 2010 Posted January 26, 2010 When I get too cold, I joke that we're moving to Florida. My husband doesn't like that... it took him 19 years to get out of Florida. lol Quote
Domino Posted January 26, 2010 Posted January 26, 2010 Haha. Florida would be cool. But isn't it really, really humid out there? I like Cali. Pretty mild weather. Quote
Spritzie Posted January 26, 2010 Posted January 26, 2010 Recently, I've been Miami in February... which wasn't bad. Then Tampa in May/June. That was hot and sticky. I didn't like the humidity much, but that's to be expected. People from Colorado, are used to humidity below 5%. (Usually at 0%) People here whine when the humidity gets above... 10% maybe. lol Cali is nice. I went there last March. It was pretty weather, nice temperature. A little cool. It was perfect for speed-walking the beach for a hours. I loved it. Quote
Domino Posted January 26, 2010 Posted January 26, 2010 Haha. There's not really that big of a difference in the seasons here. It's all pretty mild. I feel like if I went to Florida, I would instantly have an afro. :) Quote
Spritzie Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 If I moved to Cali, I'd want to move to Long Beach. That's where I went in March. We stayed at the Queen Mary before and after the cruise. And we spent the extra days, walking the beach and the new Boardwalk area. The only other time I've been to Cali, was Disney Land when I was 5. Quote
Domino Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 Ooh. Where'd you cruise to? Sometimes I go on cruises out of the dock right next to the Queen Mary. And you can't beat Disneyland. Cept the new Harry Potter World is gonna own it. :D Possibly. Most likley. Quote
Spritzie Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 We went to Cabo San Lucas. And it was cold. WAY too cold. I was freezing most of the time. I never thought I'd needs jeans and tennis shoes on a cruise. lol I actually enjoyed Long Beach more than Cabo. I want to go back. I was 5, I don't remember much. I went to Disney World for the first (and as of yet, only) time when I was 18. I had so much fun. (except by 18, I thought Magic Kingdom was over-rated. I love Epcot way more.) But I was always a Disney kid. When I was little, my room was floor to ceiling Minnie Mouse. Quote
Domino Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 I honestly don't think that I'm ever going to grow out of Disney. I'm secretly Snow White, in case you were wondering. And yeah. Mexico can be really cold and windy sometimes. I had that experience in Ensenada. *shivers* Quote
Spritzie Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 I want to go back to Disney World so bad. I will get down there again someday. Plus, I need to make it to the M&M Store in Orlando. I've been to the one in Las Vegas. (I'm an M&M collector too.) Quote
Domino Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 Ooh. That would be such a cool thing to collect. M&M memorabilia. If you can get ahold of any antique, legit stuff, then it's so awesome. M&Ms are so cool. My mom brought me a sweatshirt back from the M&M world in New York. Quote
Spritzie Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 I still have a little cut out of the Blue M&M guy playing the Saxophone, from a little M&M pack they gave out at lunch in middle school. (The Blue one is my favorite.) Especially since they often picture him, or make items with him playing Saxophone. (I used to play the Sax) I have all sorts of stuff... from clothes, Dispensers, Stuffed animals, Keychains, Notepads. I want to get the M&M Edition of Monopoly. Quote
Domino Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 Some of the variations on Monopoly are so cool. I want the Nightmare Before Christmas one. But they're always sooo expensive. Quote
Spritzie Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 I got my husband the Nintendo one. They have a ton of them on the website for Barnes & Noble, and they carry a few varieties in the store. Since my family is a member, we always get a 10% discount. And I wait until we get email coupons with an additional 20% off. Quote
Domino Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 They...have...a NINTENDO one!?!? My mind is blown. I am going to go out and find that and possibly buy it right now. You really can't beat Nintendo. Quote
Spritzie Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 Yeah they do. Check out the Barnes & Noble website. They also have Transformers. (He wants that one too.) Quote
Domino Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 See, I never got into Transformers. I loved my Pokemon. And Mario. Anything Mario. Quote
Spritzie Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 I never did either. I was a little girl... that liked Care Bears, Minnie Mouse, Polly Pocket, Barbie and Rainbow Brite (Which is actually where I got my nickname, Spritzie, from) GI Joe and Transformers were for boys. lol (How many people do you think will disagree with me on that one?) But don't get me wrong... I was ALL about the LEGOs. lol Quote
