Rommy Posted August 1, 2011 Share Posted August 1, 2011 I was on Jellyneo forums earlier today when TDN was down and noticed that many of their threads were ancient and without recent posts. I have not been to Sunnyneo yet but it left me wondering if TDN is the most active site out there for Neopets fans. Guest iYoshinho Posted August 1, 2011 Share Posted August 1, 2011 I am personally a fan of JN (do not bash me cause of this haters) Although TDN is more active, JN is more of an all in one great service Neopets fan-site with a wonderful community. Although the forums are not as active as here, it does not go down as much, they have a shoutbox and they are custom coding an entire shop on the forums just for us. Right off the top of my head, I couldn't live without the JN Item Database, and I love using their goal counters. JNs shoutbox requires 2 words or more for each shout and a maximum of 3 shouts per row only also with emotes and bbcode disabled. Also this is what I think is happening. People who have used TDN since the beginning or for a long time are used to using TDN thus they support it as for Jellyneo members that joined here possibly for just the community here, they would defend JN because they have used JN for long time and think of it as a second family. Anime Posted August 1, 2011 Share Posted August 1, 2011 The shoutbox was a disaster due to several reasons, the primary ones being that this was so early in the forums' history that only Ian had mod powers there, and we still had some porn bot issues back then. If we were to impliment one now I doubt it'd turn into the fiasco of the original one, but there's really no need for one... I have, obviously, never looked too far into which site is most active forums-wise. JN's forums were around I think at least a year before TDN's, so of course their total is going to be higher - they've had longer to make it so! Jellyneo Forums was around longer but had to be restarted due to an oversized database in January 2006. This forum was made around July 2006. And I tried to go to Jellyneo after CAV got banned... But ugh. I just can't be active there. The site annoys me alot. I don't like alot of their members while some are pretty awesome... And joodles were awesome... Now theyre gone cause of an update that didnt allow them to transfer that over I think. But theres a word limit in the games forum. No., just no. I can't handle that. ;-; Either way, I find TDN to be more active, and since I don't do much Neo stuff anymore I find it more useful since it has the best plot coverage. JN goal counters and the wishlist thing are awesome, but alot of their other stuff is outdated. Like the item database. Oh and the only thing I like in particular about their forums are the roleplaying section is alive, and they have a recent news area. Otherwise I find TDN to have much better forums in general. Is that why you use the shoutbox on your own site? lol There is a word limit to prevent spam, like I said, more controlled Item database is actually still updated, the prices are updated by users who use it while the Item DB staff add new items every day. You don't need to refute every single differing opinion because you like the one more than the other lol It becomes tiresome after a while. :P People are simply stating what they like on each; it's not a competition. Both are valid, reputable, Neopets fan sites and are respected as such. They're extremely popular so we must be doing something right. :D As for which is more active - I'm not sure. Personally, I don't give a crap about a shoutbox and fail to see what's so special about it. I used to think highly of JNF and its members, and since some of my favourite people there have either changed (for the worse) or left, I have more of a distaste for the entire community now. However, there are still a few people there that I do like and can tolerate. Since a number of people there are just...intolerable, I consider myself to be a more active member here rather than there. The people here are always a pleasure to talk to and are more mature than some JNFers. :) And this is coming from someone who's been using JN since 2006 and its forums since 2007.
