In wake of The Faeries’ Ruin prize shop being released, an increase of scams have started going around.

It appears that most attacks have been targeted on the Neoboards, specifically in The Faeries’ Ruin and Pound Chat forums.

If you frequent the boards, stay away from topics and links to petpages that sound too good to be true such as : “Over 70 Swords UFT” or threads offering expensive prizes or pets for cheap as they may be harmful.

Please do not worry. This is to warn you to double check before you click!! For a detailed look at how to protect yourself against cookie grabbers, check out TDN’s Cookie Grabber Protection guide.

Yeah someone was making a board about this on the TFR Neoboards. Hope it doesn't get too serious.

I really hope so too. Somehow, I doubt it will get as bad as it was in the summer since it's only been reported by clicking links on petpages (so far).

At any rate, after a few months of being able to browse safely, it's important to get the word out to be cautious! Good on the person who posted about it on the boards :D

I never go on the Neoboards as a rule. These people are such idiots. They're usually caught, so they don't get anything out of it, they just do it to be jerks.

I never go on the boards either...but that's mostly because most people seem to get warnings and bannings from there and I'm pananoid!!!

I go on the boards once a week, so thanks TDN for the heads-up! :)

I hardly ever go on the boards. I only go on it like once a month or so. And the TNT wants us to be careful from scammers and yet they don't even help us. All they do is just give us some advice.

Okay so I clicked on a shop and there was nothing in it but this strange code (something like j23asdf134134). Then when I logged out my account my IE blocked a popup...have I been CGed? I'm so paranoid right now. I deleted my cookies, changed my password, and logged in and out several times. I already had pins on everything beforehand. Am I safe now or what else should I do to prevent my account from being stolen? -_-

I also followed the advice from TDN's CG protection page and installed FF with no-script.

Did the shop have neopets.com? If it did have neopets.com in the site, then you're safe I guess. And what do you mean by CG?

Cookie grabbed. I don't remember, I was panicking from seeing the code. The fact that the shop is blank except for that code is highly suspicious though.

Try go on a side account and get me a screen shot if possible.

Unfortunately I don't remember the user. Is what I described typical of a CG incident? If not, would what I did prevent (described in post above) me from getting CGed?

Yes, that would fix it :) One of our staffmembers is testing the CG problem, and he says that it *should* already be fixed with a simple logout. So you're safe, especially with changing your password :)

Thank you! *big sigh of relief*

By the way, is Noscript supposed to block flash? I can only see NC mall items by temporarily disabling it and I can't see flash games.

Yes, NoScript blocks Javascript, Java and Flash. And it also packs in XSS (Cross Site Scripting) blocking, which is crucial to avoid CGers.

As far as I know, shops are still whitelisted from being able to have CGers in them. So, it may be that someone thought they were being all sneaky- but the code didn't workl.

However, it could have just been someones jumbled up code. The javascript code/link usually has the words "cookiegrab" in them (at least from the screen shots that I've seen).

Another good program to have on Firefox is Request Policy. It blocks cross browser applications from getting your information.
