The rest of its content is largely fictional, composed from various fan comments and the whims of our imagination in an attempt to inspire a sense of realism through our reporting. While we do our best to keep things reasonably neutral, this report is in no way intended to be a completely bias-free listing of the day's results, nor does it claim to provide critical analysis of past and potential outcomes from qualified Altador Cup experts. Please note that the opinions formulated in this report are from a full team of different reporters, and in no way represent the views of only a single faction. We apologise for the brevity of today's report. Due to the noise level and general disorder throughout the Colosseum and the rest of Altador, we had to make this broadcast from open ground on the city's outskirts, and we needed to minimise the time during which our equipment was exposed to the rain.

Well, we're eight days into round two, with nine more left on the calendar, and the Cup is shifting from its decisive stage (where the teams are sifted and sorted into their generalised positions on the leaderboard) over to the final stretch. This is the period where most of the contenders in the tournament focus on grabbing as many points as they can, either to secure themselves in their respective groups or to make a stretch run for a slightly more lofty target.

For Team Maraqua, this target is most definitely tier one, and the Mermaids seem well on their way to achieving their goal. The last time the slow-starting Maraquans faced the Lost Desert (in early round one), they barely managed to avoid a sweep, but that match seems to be well in the past now. A sound Yooyuball victory, coupled with draws in Make Some Noise and Shootout Showdown, and only one loss in Slushie Slinger, nudged the Mermaids back into sixth place and renewed their hopes for a group one position by the end of the round robin. When asked to comment on the achievement, Maraquan team captain Elon Hughlis had this to say:

"YYYEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSS!!!"

And really, you can't sum it up much better than that.

The Lost Desert, meanwhile, has slipped down to third place, but they're still very much in group one and (judging by the determination seen in Leera Heggle's squad as they readied themselves for their next match) unlikely to leave any time soon.

The rest of the day's matches didn't bring too many surprises. They did, however, bring plenty of clean sweeps - for four out of the nine match-ups in total in fact. It was an unlucky day for Faerieland, Kiko Lake, Altador, and Moltara, this year's bottom four contenders, as they all suffered across-the-board losses to their opponents, Terror Mountain, Tyrannia, Kreludor, and Meridell respectively.

Brightvale and Mystery Island performed only slightly better against their opponents. The Brightvale Wizards managed to draw Slushie Slinger against the Darigan Citadel, but lost elsewhere. Mystery Island's match against the Roos ended in a similar defeat. Despite the point gains from these matches, the Citadel and Roo Island still lag slightly behind the rest of this year's group one contenders.

The Pirates versus Ninjas clash of the day was a little more balanced, although the final outcome was clearly in Krawk Island's favour. Team Shenkuu only managed a win in Slushie Slinger and a draw in Make Some Noise, leaving Yooyuball and Shootout Showdown in the hands of the Pirates.

The last match of the day was between two teams who have both proven their worth as potential tier one contenders, but still lie too low for comfort on the leaderboard: Team Virtupets and the Haunted Woods Zombies. It was the Zombies who came out on top, winning Yooyuball and Slushie Slinger, but Virtupets stayed ahead in the remaining side games and managed to grab a few match points.

For day nine of round two, all eyes (or most at least) are on Team Kreludor as they defend their tier one ranking against the raging Maraquans. The Virtupets Robots won't be getting a break either - they face Roo Island, and the Roos seem set to stay in the running for the top four.

Good luck folks! This is AA, reporting from a hill just outside Altador, signing off.

you forgot to mention that this was the first time ever that Maraqua beat LD in YYB

We did get a draw last year, but in the 5 years, never a win... History has been made :D

I'm really sad that LD is losing hope though... They are so much better than that...

Whoa, that's crazy! Great job to Maraqua, this is the first game I stay up past eleven pm to play. I'm rootin' for ya today!

And we are better than that. We're biding our strength for the finals. I just wish I could see the schedule in advance though, so I don't just show up and see the team we're playing.
