The newbies who are too new to really compete in a war will do one of three things: 1) Not understand what's going on and continuing having fun doing whatever they want. 2)Get inspired by the idea that another war plot may happen again and start investing in their Neopets account so they're ready for the next war. 3) Get fed up that they're behind on a 14 year old site and leave (which could happen due to avatars, trophies, anything retired, NPs, etc.). I don't see ANYTHING unfair about war plots unless they become overly frequent and the only kind of plot that has any importance.

 

It just gives Neo a purpose. If TNT balanced war plots with puzzle plots, multi-front plots and a mix of puzzle/war plots, they'd be great. It's just something to do, and more often than not, the new user is going to be excited to have a goal to work for.

Yea plots aren't that difficult considering that many sites put guides for them and some puzzles are easy. On my first plot, The Faerie Ruins I had a lot to work for, it was fun.....I only defeated one bad guy ten times and did a few parts of the plot, but I didn't use a guide. So I was happy.

I stand by my opinion before. Modernize the Battledome, then do a war. The BD is outdated and feels incomplete. 99% of the weapons out there are about as useful as hitting someone with a teddy bear, for example.

 

As long as they don't make it Flash, they can do what they want. I don't care.

 

And I'm done arguing about the whole "barrier to entry" argument. I stand by my opinion of a middle way, because neither way is 100% fair. I agree it's not fair to limit battlers, but it isn't fair to limit non-battlers/newbies, either.

I have so many conflicting opinions on this.

 

Part of me wants to say, I just don't understand why people can't just be happy with what they have (I know how idealistic that sounds). But I mean, everyone has equal access on this site, there is nothing preventing people from restocking/playing games/using the stock market, etc. Not everyone has to participate in wars, if training your pet hasn't been your priority, then you can't complain and that doesn't mean you can't enjoy it if you still choose to participate. That's the case for me, I'm not a BDer, but I would love a war. I know I won't make huge profit of it, like some people, but having a fight here or there to get some points, a trophy, an avatar or whatever is great.

 

However, now that you can buy a premium account with real world money, I would have to disagree with that. When you get extra NP each month, free scratch cards, randomly doubled NP from games, etc., there is no equal access anymore. The rich are getting richer because they can use actual money to give them an advantage. How is that kid-friendly?

 

I feel like I could get really off-topic with this though. Mainly, I hope there's a war!!

And I do agree that the BD needs to be revamped again. They either need to add importance to movement, or remove it and let us use the stats to upgrade our other stats.

Premium has been around forever, TNT only changed it recently. And it's really not a big deal. Not every rich user on the site has Premium (me, for instance). You can make FAR more money from restocking, sniping, Habitarium, KQ ,and the like than you can from anything you do in Premium. If Neopets was "equal access," it would have been shut down years ago.

 

There isn't a successful game site out there that doesn't have some sort of paying advantage towards it. I actually think Neopets pretty benign and fair compared to some other sites out there (ie Maplestory). If Neopets were like Maplestory, you'd be able to pay real-life money to buy a SuAP or something. Now that would be unfair.

 

Do keep in mind that Neopets is owned by Viacom, and like any major corporation, making money is their #1 goal, as well as #2 and #3 most likely. I don't like it as much as the next person on the site, but it is what it is, and there's nothing we can do about it. I don't know what people expect them to do.

 

But you're right. This is off-topic. I don't care what kind of plot we get, I just don't find battling as riveting as most people do and would prefer some puzzles. That's all.
