Tea
Has anyone else noticed the ratios of a few games changing in the last few weeks? Does anyone think these unannounced changes in ratios are a little unfair? First one considered was MAGAX: Destroyer II, which was in the 300+ score range for 1000nps, now moved up to 556. Today Jolly Jugglers ratio was changed from 117 to 595. Pretty sure a few others have been changed as well.
Domino
Yeah, I have noticed that they have changed. It's a bit annoying really. And your avatar is really...really cool. *stares and drools*
Tea
In my belief if the changes were announced it would not be considered an issue, although it would take me a little longer to earn my daily points at least they warned me. (Thank you! Happy for the compliment since I made the pixel myself C:.)
Spritzie
As far as I know, though un-announced officially, I believe they've stated somewhere, that on the 23rd (or close to it) of every month, they change the NP ratio. They don't necessarily change every game, but if they make changes, that's when they do it.
Tea
A little late this month then. Thank for your insight, was just curious if anyone else noticed this.
Spritzie
I haven't been playing games much this month. I used to have a list of like, 5-7 games I loved playing, that I got 1000 each time. But last month, they changed it, and of that list, only 2 could I still get it. The rest, I had to play longer. So now, I mostly stick with Typing Terror. That's about it. I read that it's to even things out. Get less popular games to be played more, by raising the ratio or something like that. Somewhere, there's actually a site that updates the NP ratio for all the games, listing what score you have to get.
Divya Bean
I think that makes sense, but they should still not raise it that much. If they raise it, then less people will play those games, and it will go on in circles. I have also noticed that because of this, Turmac Roll is not nearly as popular as it was. Same with some other games.
Spritzie
I think it's their form of balancing the system. Making you get more NP easier, on games that rarely get played.
Elluwah
I understand why they do it, it just annoys me that you don't find out until you've played the game >.< I'm not really that affected by it anymore though. I tend to just do my dailies rather than playing games.
Spritzie
Me too. I don't take the time to check the ratios before I play my usual games. When they changed Imperial Exam, I was really caught off-guard. That had been the same for at least 6 months. I never thought to see if they had changed it. Now I pay more attention when starting my usual games around this time of the month.
rainfall
I try to stick to a regime in my game playing to form some sort of NP income, which really isn't that hard when you're regularly getting 1000 NPs from every game you're playing... until they decide to change it without warning! It's not really unfair so much as it is an inconvenience, although I'm not sure how many people specifically check the NP ratio EVERY TIME they play that game, I now I am not one of those people. I'm going to have to keep my eyes open a bit more now though, it seems.
Xepha
Ratios always change on the 25th or the 26th of the month. Always. It has been like that for around 2-3 years now. TDN will provide you accurate ratios soon :P Also, I like the changes. After a month playing the same games, I get bored.
rainfall
o_O I definitely did not realize that. I guess I've been outta the loop for too long. Thanks for that!
Tea
Believe I found the petpage that updates the changing ratios each month. Must thank everyone for sharing their opinions and letting me see this issue in a new light. This change is good, yet inconvenient in some aspects. Playing the same games would get a bit boring C;. Hoptotheloo
On a note the ratio for dubloon disaster is down. So you only need something just under 300 to get 1000. :)
Secre
http://www.neopets.com/~Joderi gives all the neopet ratios and what you need to get 1000...I don't know if she's updated it for this month yet though... They do always change - it used to annoy me...but now I've got used to it.
Nyssa
Now that I actually know it's changed on the same date (sort of) each month, it's less annoying :P thanks for that!
