Tyler.
Christmas is upon us. What are you gonna do to celebrate? Going somewhere for the holidays? What is your Christmas list? Have a favorite Christmas Carol? Basically, come here and talk about Christmas.
Shane for Wax
I celebrate Yule. My christmas/Yule list is too massive. Mainly more clothes, some video games, the L Word on DVD... stuff like that.
Nad
I never have a list. I don't like the idea of having expectations (especially when the idea behind Christmas isn't the presents but for a time to have the family together and it's one of the 2/3 times in a year I see my brother, tbh), unless it's of course having the family together (I do expect getting together with family). I love family time. I'm not really huge in the whole Christmas thing, though I do have a little 3 foot tree that I decorate each year. This Christmas I believe I'm going to my aunt's and my cousins are coming up here and we'll be there all together. :] I just love family get togethers, even if I don't get anything at all. As for carols, I had this tape that when December hit, it would be in my stereo 24/7 and I wouldn't play anything else until after Christmas...but of course, I was like 9 or so. xP I like Spanish tunes best for Christmas, probably since I grew up with those instead of the English ones, though I do like the movies best in English. xP Hehe. n.z._WAT?!
Yay for Christmas! I dont have a list either, theres more anticipation if you dont know what your gonna get. And I must admit, I love giving pressies more than getting them now. I've got family around so we'll head to my Uncle + Auntys for lunch then to Nanas for the big dinner! Yay food! Lol
cmannequin
ahh christmas (: im buddhist but we "celebrate" christmas anyways (: my favorite part is decorating the house (inside and out) and getting money instead of presents (i tell everyone to give me money instead of presents that way they wont have to worry over what to get me :D -wink-wink- LOl
Honeycrisp
I'm compiling a list right now for my mommy. Mostly it's just books and socks. :P But what I love most about Christmas is the tree and thinking about love for mankind and stuff. Plus I bake a TON of cookies and that makes everyone love me, so that's cool. I'm such a briber. :P
Chanizilla
One side of my family doesn't ever celebrate christmas, they have Eid at the beginning of december this year that was what came close... but the other side are very avid, 5 day christmas lovers lol. Were doing two chinese gift exchanges (where you all bring a gift and end up fighting for one you like lol) and two christmas dinners... the last day hasn't been set in stone yet for what were doing... I am sad to say though, were not even close to finishing our christmas shopping :( *eep*
quit
I hate holidays so it's not a wonderful time of year for me. I don't really celebrate Christmas or anything anymore.
flyingeevee
I LOVE the holidays since mainly I always go out of state to visit the whole family =D We've been doing secret santa for a few years now and this time I got my abuelito! We do karaoke, each girl member brings in a type of dessert (they love my oreo cheesecake!), catchup on stuff, and just happy to be with each other since we only all meet up on Thanksgivings and Christmas :) I'm hoping to get maybe more books, DJ Hero, or at least some gift cards xD
Ashbash
This might just be my new favorite thread. I'm a huge fan of Christmas and I love just about everything about it. I just changed my ringtone to All I Want for Christmas is You today. And in addition to the neopets Advent Calendar, I always have my own where I have an excuse to eat a chocolate every morning for breakfast haha. It's the best! Jikuu
My mother is very greedy about having me for Christmas after having shafted my father's family for close to 10 years. At least I'm an adult and can tell her every other year because I care about my in-laws. I don't celebrate Christmas religiously, but I enjoy the time to be with family. This year I am seeing my side of the family with my husband, splitting it up with my mother and aunt (my father doesn't organize stuff). I'm bringing homemade fruitcake (NOT nuclear glowing gummy fruits but real dried fruit, nuts, and alcohol) as well as reed scent crap my mom and grandma like (I figure it'll appease them). With my paternal family, I plan on being there, not eating or exchanging gifts, but actually ENJOYING THEIR COMPANY. This is something I think my materialistic mom hasn't picked up on yet. :shiftyeyes_anim: *cough* Sorry, I shouldn't rant like this. But yes, it's very nice spending time with the ones you love on holidays like these.
hrtbrk
We usually don't celebrate anything specific. Sure we put up a tree with gifts and whatnot, but we're really open to experiencing other stuff. We've been dubbed the Holiday Squatters because we go to someone elses house on the 24th and 25th lol This year, we're going to hang out with our friend on the 25th. They celebrate Festivus... the pole... the 'insults' - EVERYTHING. On the 24th, I think we're having a tradition Ukrainian Christmas get-up at my grandmas house... or my aunts house.. idunno. The only tradition that hubby and I have is that we stay up all night on the 24th watching Christmas/Holiday episodes of the TV shows on DVD that we own lol
Nemo
I actually dont celebrate Christmas, but rather Hanukkah. Yeah~!~ This year I will be doing the normal stuff and going to two Hanukkah parties. My parents dont give gifts so I am not getting any presents
BonjourPanda
For holidays I'm going to the Bahamas and going shopping. :b No "Christmas" stuff for me this year... I'll miss Boxing day, oh well.
theyxdrewxblood
I celebrate Christmas :D and I love it too. On my list is a PS3, a Marilyn Manson CD or two, and, if someone can find such a thing, a piece of My Chemical Romance merchandise I don't already have ;D But the best part is getting to be with a friend of mine who I rarely see anymore, I spend New Year's Week at her house. So I'm excited (:
arielo_o
I spending Christmas day and a few more days at my mom's in the country (way way away, with no neighbors for miles, literally!) with my sisters and my brother. And my best friend will be there too, since he now has been going out with my little sister for over a year! He is Russian so he has never really celebrated Christmas. And then with my other sister we will be at our dad's. And then there is the whole family celebration with all the uncles, aunts, cousins... everyone I have not seen in a while. I can't wait :) This year sounds really great! Happy Holidays to everyone BTW!!!
Masaryk
I have mixed feelings about Christmas. I'm not religious at all, so I don't really focus on that aspect of the holidays, but both my mom and my in-laws are Catholic, so we still celebrate Christmas anyway. I absolutely abhor the commercialism of the holidays, but it doesn't stop me from buying gifts for everybody. I just try to do most of my shopping online and in small boutiques, so that I can avoid the malls. For a long time, I hated the holidays because, when I was much younger, my dad died just before Christmas, so that time of year kind of makes me sad. However, I've learned to try to focus on the positive aspects of the holiday season - food, family, and fun! I LOVE to cook and bake, so food is a major focus for me. I can't wait to bake dozens of different kinds of cookies, pastries, and tarts from all sorts of ethnic (mostly European) origins. And I can't wait to make turkey, stuffing, cabbage rolls, and all sorts of other tasty things to carry my family through a whole weekend of celebrating. I still need to get my Christmas tree for this year. We always get a real tree, usually a balsam fir, then have it mulched after the holidays, just to be environmentally responsible. This year, my family will be celebrating Christmas on Boxing Day, because my mom and my sister work opposite shifts on Christmas Day. None of the stores are open in my city on Boxing Day, so I'll still be able to cash in on the sales the day after, if I care. I don't know when we will be celebrating with my in-laws, because they usually go spend Christmas with my sister-in-law, who lives nine hours away from us. So, we'll probably do something earlier in the week before.
losorlaugh
Well I'm neither religious in anyway but I'm still celebrating X-mas on the 2th b) :grrr: Also had to go X-mas shopping last Saturday... :grrr:
celticheavens
I don't celebrate Christmas for my religion, but I do enjoy the slight festive mood that decends upon the shopping district during this season. The light ups, the sea of people, the shoving to grab discounted items... Nothing really different from other festivals I guess, but I do like the free presents! :P Of course there is the whole spirit of Christmas I guess. XD I do enjoy making cards and sending them out to my friends, hoping that they reach their intended recipients in time haha! And getting gifts for some when I fly overseas to celebrate during certain years.. Oh, and the Christmas dinner with my family! We usually dine at a hotel (too lazy to cook etc) but we do get turkey sometimes during Christmas eve and invite some aunts of mine over :D. I do wish for a real Christmas tree for once though :( If only we didn't have that many furniture... @_@ Should be fun to decorate a tree for once! bluevelvet
Christmas is definitely my favourite season, just because of all the cheer and happiness that pops up. People are usually in more of a giving and charitable mood during Christmastime, and you wouldn't believe how many incidents I've seen this past week that made me so proud of everyone. Besides, who doesn't like free stuff? (: I really don't have much of a list; I finished my shopping and card writing, and basically I'm just chilling and relaxing before school starts up again. My family was originally supposed to go to Mexico for the break, but we canceled our tickets after the whole H1N1 thing, which was kind of stupid, but still. Merry Christmas to all, and happy New Year!
